Education Is The Key To Success

 I walked inside the school with a smile on my face ‘ well today is a new day, weekdays are the best’ I thought.

As always, the proprietor smiles my way and says, 

“Smarty, always on time, how was your week ends?” he asked smiling.

“Boring as ever, how was yours too sir?” I asked.

“Good, it was good, you should learn to be happy at home you know? No where is better than home. Now you can go, I know you have duties. Have a nice day. ” he advised.

 “I will sir, school is the best place ever. ” I said to him laughing.

I hopped away but turned to look at him still smiling my way ‘school is the best place ever. ’ I repeated in mind.

Three hours later(break time)

In the garden,

I walked out of the classroom to the garden with my friend Lizzy, and saw my classmates in groups under the summer huts. I wasn't someone to join such groups because they never had good conversations and I wasn't good in initiating or keeping up on a conversation so I dared not join them. My friend Lizzy was also from a poor home so she wasn't accepted in the groups.

I Just couldn't handle those bitches, that always spoke behind others back and even in the groups they wouldn't stop to backbite each other.

I didn't see that as a friendship group but a ‘hateship’ group as j had named them. I chose a  bench a few meters away from the colorful girls’ as they are called since they always wear different colors of pins in their hair every day.

By then, they were having a conversation about someone, I drew closer eavesdropping on their conversation but pretending I wasn't.

“Do you know the latest handsome man in town?” asked girl one.

“Is it the one that I know? He's called Aaron my dream guy. ” asked girl two.

Well, as long as I've known those girls they never spoke about themselves but boys, our teachers and backbiting each other. They never spoke about their studies too. But sometimes, their stories were interesting that was the reason I loved eavesdropping.

“This boy is handsome and brilliant, but it's just that he attends one of the local schools in the country. ” said girl one.

“It seems we all know this guy, if so one of us must get him to show the rest that we are the most attractive ladies in the school. ” said girl three.

“You are right, but after that what? I will like to fall in love, and do not wish a guy to just woo me. But if he was to fall in love with me, that would be fine with me. ” girl four added.

“As for me, as long as he is good in bed, that will be okay with me. ” said girl one.

I wasn't surprised the ladies were speaking like that, such embarrassing words even in school, they could say worse. We were just in our junior high school and that too in the first year but those kids had already entered the world and have tasted it's sweetness. I looked at them sadly but the name they had mentioned was not leaving my head ‘ ‘Aaron handsome, and brilliant ’

‘I like brilliant guys too, how would it have felt if I was to snatch him from those vultures hands’ I was thinking but then suddenly realized where my head was going and thought again,

‘ How on earth should you think like this?it's only when you top up first in class that daddy gives you five minutes of your time on phone and mommy sings you praises but then that has even stopped these days and which wasn't even much previously, I know you still miss those times. They might say ‘Education Is The Key To Success’ but yours, it was the key to happiness, your only source of happiness. Because I am brilliant, my parents sing me praises and your teachers show me some love, isn't that enough?’ I thought.

Lizzy looked my way and saw my unconscious state and asked,

“Is everything alright? You have been quiet for sometime now. ” she asked.

“Yes I am don't worry about me. ” I told her.

“Were you listening to them right now? You don't have to listen to this nonsense don't let it get to you. Please help me with this mathematical problem. ” she advised.

She gave me the book and I explained to her, but how long was I going to make my books and studies my happiness? I didn't know.
