Chapter 8: What Exactly Are You?: Part 1

--The Nydisia Kingdom, The Castle, The Right-Wing Living Quarters--

"My lady, the King requested that this letter is to be delivered to you and that you have breakfast with him in the dining hall," Lily said, passing the letter one of her fellow maids had given to her.

Katherine inhaled as Lily tied her corset from the back. The dresses Katherine had received were luxurious and more expensive compared to the ones she had at Lady Morgan's manor.

Seeing as Lily didn't make the corset unbreathable tight, the dress Katherine wore was very comfortable and fit for a lady that was to appear in front of a king to wear.

Lily had offered to do her hair but Katherine refused. She always felt more relaxed with her long wavy hair resting calmly around her lower waist.

After drinking the iced tea that Lily had specifically brought as per Katherine's request. Katherine opened the letter from the King and it read:

To Lady Katherina Daventin,

On behalf of the council, I will be your guide to learn about matters regarding the throne or perhaps your confidant. We will be expected to handle matters together as I train you in how to rule the Kingdom that will soon be yours. I look forward to our breakfast together.

Your King,

Lucian Williams

It was almost breakfast, after Katherine was done being dressed she stepped out into the hall with Lily leading the way to the dining hall.

Katherine was left at awe as the hall looked big enough to hold an event with hundreds of people, probably more.

She was a bit nervous to meet the King, she hoped that she may be able to convince him to let her go back home.

Off to her right was one of the four entrances to the maze-like garden, she had seen the other day. The grandest chandelier she had ever seen hung elegantly above the center of the room.

After regaining her composure, Katherine's eyes fell on the man that was seated at the head of the dining table.

Katherine's heartbeat sped up a little as she didn't expect him to be so good-looking. Although it didn't change the fact that his aura was undeniably cold and intense which scared her.

The man was wearing a thin nordic tunic bandage shirt that barely covered the top muscles of his chest.

The man was incredibly well built, she could see his chest muscles flex through his shirt as he drank the red-coloured liquid in his cup.

He was gorgeous, to say the least, his jaw was perfectly chiselled, his onyx black hair only made his dark red eyes that seem to glow at will more enchanting.

Katherine's quiet footsteps approached and she bowed in respect, "My King," When he hadn't responded to her she took a seat beside him, afraid to offend him if she was to make eye contact.

Lucian examined the petite brunette briefly before speaking his mind, "I don't take you to be a coward, Katherina."
