Chapter 6

"Could you just tell me what's wrong, Jessalyn?" I finally decided to ask my sister as my fingers unconsciously played with the brand new diamond necklace dangling on my neck that Octavius had put around me and told me it was a present that I could wear for the next few hours. I had no doubt that he would give me another diamond necklace. Or some pearls would be nice as well.

It doesn't matter though, I'm sure it will go just perfectly well with the clothes that I bought. I was bound to find an outfit just perfect for my brand new jewellery.

Unlike Jessalyn, I was excited and happy to be here and I don't get why she's not because it's not like Octavious didn't give her any expensive gifts judging from the diamond bracelet that she's wearing paired with a diamond covered watch.

It also wasn't like I had dragged her out of bed to come exploring with me, in fact it was the other way around. She had dragged me out of bed while I was taking a well-deserved nap and begged me to go exploring with her, with the excuse that "we might not live forever" or something as strange as that and how we needed to make most of our time together.

But I obliged because I did want to go exploring and even though it was getting dark, Jessalyn told me that Octavious told her that we could still go out because the night was only about to begin and it took a lot to get the people in Matlock to go to bed and close up their shops.

While I was sitting, jumping around in my seat in the Rolls Royce Phantom that had me feeling at the top of the world, and taking necessary photos and videos for Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter; Jessalyn was just staring into outer space, zoned out and completely out of her element.

I knew something was really bothering her when she didn't even do one of her dramatic poses when she takes a selfie to outshine me because she knows she has the features of a model, "Jessalyn," I called her name again, bringing her attention to me and her head whipped in my direction and her eyes looked at me confused.

"What?" she asked me, furrowing her eyebrows like I was wrong for interrupting her.

I sighed and locked my phone, facing my body towards her, "Are you ok?" I asked her, "you seem really out of it. Is it Dash? Has he done something?" I asked her, feeling a bit concerned and overprotective. But also hoping in the back of my mind that they broke up because I really did hate him.

"Wh...what? Oh, no, no, Dash and I are fine," she shook her head but she really seemed like she wasn't with me, as though mentally she was a million miles away, "I'm fine, also, don't worry about me. I'm just worried about, uhm...school and stuff."

I narrowed my eyes at her, "you don't care about school, Jessalyn, you have never cared about school."

"Well, that doesn't mean that I can't start now," she defiantly said as she crossed her arms and it caused her boobs to push up even more in her dress.

I rolled my eyes, "just tell me what's bothering you, because it's been bothering you for some time, Jessalyn. I mean, yeah, I hate you, but I don't want you being so moody and grumpy all the time because it's really killing my vibe, bitch."

She was silent, before a small smile broke across her face, "that's the nicest thing you've ever said to me," and I gagged.

"And don't expect to hear it ever again. Now, what's bothering you? Is there a bitch we need to drag, or what? If it's Dash, I beg you to please let me have him. I have so much planned for him, so much planned for his broke ass. I will drag him by his two front teeth and feed him his own ba-"

"Ok, that's enough, Madea," she laughed shaking her head before she threw her hair over her shoulder and leaned over to the mini bar in the car before she brought back a bottle of Jack Daniel's. She smiled at me and I slowly shook my head, "oh yes...oh yes, Nastassia."

"Oh, no, no, no, Jessalyn, that's Jack Daniel's. That's nothing like that sparkling wine we sneak around the house."

"Oh, come on, Nastassia. Don't act like you haven't drank before," Jessalyn said with a knowing smirk before she reached for two glasses and began to pour.

"I have drank before, Jessalyn, but only wine and I had a sip of a beer."

"Come on, in Matlock, it's legal for you to drink."

"Uh...no, I don't think so."

"Besides, if it's in the car, that means Octavious wanted us to drink it. I mean, why wouldn't Octavious have us drinking what we want? Whenever has Octavious not given you anything you want?" she asked me as she handed me the glass and nodded encouragingly, "I know you want it."

I looked at the brown liquid, so tempted to drink it like she kept encouraging, "I mean...Octavious doesn't even drink Jack Daniel's..." I tried to reason and she nodded.

"Yes, we’ve see him gulp down more expensive and strong whiskey than this. Jack Daniel's is practically water. That's why it's here."

I nodded my head and a smile spread across my face as I took the glass and she giggled before she raised hers to mine and we clanked it against each other before I took a sip. I shuddered at the taste and she laughed at me, drinking the Jack Daniel's like a champ, "come on, finish up."

It was so strong but I forced myself to drink the liquid and that's what I did, "there you go!" Jessalyn laughed at my facial expression, "you'll learn to love it, Nastassia, you'll see."

"Is this what Dash and you do? Drink whiskey all damn day?"

She bit her bottom lip, a naughty smile spreading across her face, "among other things," she told me, her tone letting me know exactly what she was talking about.

"Ew, man, that's disgusting, Jessalyn," I frowned at her in distaste while she laughed and I was glad she was back. She could be disgusting and irritating but, I liked her this way and I preferred her this way. We were on vacation and we needed to get along.

The car slowed down and I looked outside, "ooh, look, designer stores!" I gasped, "and they're all open!" I gushed out in excitement as I looked at Jessalyn who seemed to be way ahead of me as she held up the card that Octavious had given her.

"I can't wait to blow it," she told me with a grin so wide and happy, it blinded me momentarily.

"Let's go!" I opened the car, not waiting for the chauffeur to open it for me before I stood in awe and looked at the stores all lined up. The huge buildings and the skyscrapers. It all looked so amazing.

I adjusted my leather shorts before my hands unconsciously found the necklace, fixing it a bit before I turned to face Jessalyn who appeared next to me. She lopped my arm through hers, "we're going shopping," she imitated the famous White Chicks line.

I looked around the beautiful place, feeling like I was both in New York, England, Paris and Los Angeles all at once. That's how overwhelming this place looked, it had definitely improved since I was a kid, but there was something wrong.

"Uh, why's it empty?" I asked Jessalyn when I noticed the lack of people in the streets. You would think with such a lively looking place that you'd see the richest of the rich walking around. I half expected Bentleys and all sorts of fast cars to be lined along the streets, with fashionable men and women walking around but instead it was just Jessalyn, the shop employees and myself.

Jessalyn looked around, "Octavious," she said with an eye roll before she led us along, "I'm in the mood for that $100,000 Birkin bag that mum said I'd only get in my dreams."
