YOLO

∞≠∞

Steffy heaves a deep breath as she remembered the girls' frightened faces. Plastering a smirk, she absorbed the overwhelming feeling of power she received just by defeating those bullies.

‘So this is how it feels like; to be feared.’ She now understood why her father valued power over anything is. If you had power, all the things that the world had to offer will be yours for the taking. And as she sat idly, she cannot wait to fulfill her mission so she could finally become the first-ever female Alpha Don.

But upon remembering a conversation with her dad just this morning, she wiped her smirk and heaved another deep breath. He had been bugging her about her ordeal. He said the earlier for Steffy to finish the target, the better.

'I need to immediately come up with a plan,’ she said in her mind as she clicked her tongue. She had been following Lucio Hernandez for several days now. The man was a different person in front of the students of Libangon National High, and the photos didn’t lie. He was a good-looking piece of shit.

“Who the hell are you?”

Steffy tentatively cast a dangerous glare at the one who suddenly spoken behind her. Planting her feet on the ground, she readied herself into a fighting position.

The intruder seemed to register a shock on his face when Steffy finally looked at him.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Miss Blonde. I was just—"

Steffy's eyebrows furrowed. "What did you call me again?" she asked in a dangerous tone.

"I—I don't know your name, and your hair's blonde so—"

The guy was stammering, and he also looked like a typical nerd. He wore thick glasses and braces. His perfectly pleated polo uniform was tucked underneath his school pants. Realizing that he was as harmless as a speck of dust, she then ignored him and hastily decided to leave him there.

As she walked towards the door, the guy held her right arm, stopping her from walking.

“Get your hand off me,” she strictly said.

"Wait! Miss Blonde—"

"Stop calling me that!" she snapped angrily. "The name's Steffy.” Then she suddenly got curious when the boy smilingly drew out a hand.

“Ah! I finally know your name now. I'm Yolo."

She backed away, although hesitantly, she firmly took his hand out of courtesy. The Alphas needed to be courteous at all times, even at strangers.

"So," he said, clearing his throat. "I can see that you are also captured with the ambiance in my secret place?”

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well, Miss Blonde, I mean, Steffy—this place here is one of the most convenient places to hang out in. The students used to call this place Tambayan. Although the principal already warned everyone to stay out because, as you probably know by now, this is the library's rooftop."

Without a cue, Yolo carefully moved to sit on the edge of the building.

"Ahhh, the view is just simply amazing," he said as he raised his hands in the air. “You could see the whole school from here!”

Rolling her eyes, Steffy walked towards him and urged him to go down so she could level her gaze with him.

"If this area is restricted, then why are you here?" she asked, fully aware that Yolo will not be leaving the place any moment now.

"I should be asking the same thing to you."

Steffy sat on the edge and heaved a sigh as she let her feet dangle. "I like to be alone sometimes. This place happens to be unoccupied. Well, not until you showed up unannounced."

In the corners of her eyes, she sensed that the young man was staring at her, but she decided not to mind the attention. Instead, she fixed her gaze on the view before her.

The place was quite big, although not as big as the Academy she used to go to last year and the years before that.

The Academy was a school built for billionaire kids like her. Such a school provided her with the knowledge that she will need in leading the life of a billionaire. It immersed her in unending discussions of the stock market, business ventures, and everything in between. It also trained her physically and educated her with the different fighting techniques and tactics that she might use once she gets full responsibility for her father's chains of businesses, and of course, once she inherits her father's leadership in the Alpha brotherhood.

"I know there's something fishy about you," Yolo suddenly remarked, shaking Steffy's private thoughts away.

"W—What do you mean by that?" she mumbled, suddenly concerned.

'Does he know something?'

Yolo intently stared at her, making her feel flustered and surprised. She cleared her throat and flashed him a blank face; her eyes suddenly sending daggers towards him.

"Come on! Don't stare at me like that, Miss Blonde. You look scary with that look."

“Who are you?” she asked.

Yolo let out a sarcastic laugh. “I am just nothing but an ordinary student, Steffy. But I know some things that other students do not have any idea about.”

“Like what sort of things?” she replied, clenching her fists.

Yolo’s face turned blank as he stared at her. “I've been observing you from afar, you know. And I happened to know what you did at the locker room," he said in an ominous voice. Steffy immediately recalled what happened to Charlotte and her friends. Upon hearing that, she immediately pinned the boy down. Her fist was dangerously cast in the air while her other hand firmly clasped Yolo's collar.

"Woah, Miss Blonde. R—Relax! I—I meant no harm—"

"Then tell me everything that you know!" she hissed, pinning him more on the floor. "Or I'll throw you down—"

"Okay, okay! Just let me sit properly, alright? How can I explain if you continue to treat me like this?"

Steffy pulled him up and roughly pushed his chest. “Just talk!”

"Fine! Fine! Jeez, what a tough woman," he mumbled to himself as he wiped the dirt from his polo shirt. “Gosh, these uniforms were brand new!”

Steffy rolled her eyes impatiently. “Will you stop that and start talking already? I don’t have a whole fucking day, Yolo.”

"Okay, so here's what happened. I was cleaning the locker room when I heard a commotion…”

"You were cleaning the locker room? What are you, a student or a janitor?"

"Well, both," he replied with an amused chuckle. "So, as I was saying, I was there and I saw everything. I hid in a teeny tiny corner inside that room."

Steffy's face registered from blank to shock, making Yolo twitch his lips into an awkward smirk. "I've seen what you did. And I know you were responsible for the girls' new fashion," he said, drawing a chuckle.

"Is that all that you know?" Steffy asked again, feeling a little perplexed.

"Yeah. I just saw you, that's all. Is there anything else that I need to know?"

Steffy drew a relieved smile.

“Of course, there’s none,” she replied, scoffing. “I’m just afraid you’ll tell the principal. I don’t want to get expelled.”

“Don’t worry, Miss. I’m close to the principal but I will not tell him anything, but man, I'm a fan," he playfully remarked. "I wish I can also do those amazing stunts you did to the girls. I wonder—"

"Shut up," Steffy snapped, making Yolo laugh a little. "No, seriously, that's all I know, Miss Blonde," he said, tucking his hands inside his pockets. Steffy took a few steps and carefully sat down again in her spot earlier.

"If you promise to keep your mouth shut," she said while giving him a cold stare, "I might give you a reward."

"Really?"

Steffy gave him a disgusted look when she saw how Yolo looked at her with such adoration. 'Jeez, what's wrong with him?'

But she was even more shocked when Yolo raised his hand in the air and started shouting at the top of his lungs. "You heard that huh? This badass girl here is gonna reward me! Wohoooo—"

"Fucking shut your big mouth, boy!" Steffy said as she grabbed him down. “You said this area is restricted. Why are you shouting like a maniac? Are you crazy? Oh, what a jerk!”

The next thing she knew, the boy was already hugging her like they’ve been the best of friends for the longest time. It gave her the creeps.

"I'm just happy. It's been a while since I made a friend."

Steffy was taken aback again. 'A friend?'

"Keep me as your friend, alright? That's just the reward that I want from you, Miss Blonde."

They stood in that position for a couple of minutes for Steffy was unable to comprehend how this stranger acted so comfortable around her. She thought something was seriously off but she could not point it out.

Realizing that they were still hugging each other, she roughly pushed him aside and said, “Stop hugging me! Do you realize how gross that is? No touching!”

She then hastily climbed down the stairs, completely dazed by the stranger's sudden appearance in her life.

"I've met this stupid jerk on the library's rooftop, George. He said he wanted to be a friend."

George flashed her a quick look through the rear-view mirror and chuckled.

"Does making a friend bother you, señorita?"

"It does," she said in a small voice. "The hardest part of this mission is not eliminating the target. I—It’s probably leaving all the people I might connect with in my stay here. I don't want that to happen when I’m done with my mission."

She just received a small grunt from him but she knew that the old man completely understood what she meant.

"Then,” he replied. “You have to do what your father told you, señorita—eliminate the target A.S.A.P."

Hearing that, she turned to stare at the window and admire the canopy of trees they passed by the street, and not making any more comments of what George said. But then he’s right. She had to kill the target before she developed any strings of relationships with anyone in the school.

Thinking of the possibilities, the face of the boy briefly crossed her cluttered mind. Everything about him was familiar. It just occurred to her that she had already seen him somewhere. She was sure that Yolo was not just a stranger. But where?

'Yolo. Who the fuck are you?’
