Luke ran. The moment I was most vulnerable and told him that I loved him, he ran. What man does that? The world may be ending and I found out that my husband turned into the monsters we are trying to survive from. Luke has been gone for two weeks and I've been worried sick. Not knowing where he went or even if he is ok has made me a mess.
My days have seemed to blend together and I have no idea what to do with myself without him. My normal day with Luke would be us having amazing sex in the morning, then we would make breakfast together. The way he looks at me as I would wash the dishes would make my knee's week. The mornings where my favorite since time seemed to stand still and we had nowhere to rush too. Now, all I want is stay in my bed.
Waking up on this morning, I don't want
Heading toward town, I told my dad not to go west, we should go south since there is a good number of houses and a couple stores. My goal today is finding Luke and if he doesn't want to be found then maybe people.Making it to the main road and my dad sees for the first time how everything is over grown and the number of vehicles abandoned on the road. Looking out the windows we stay silent as we continue to head on our way. Driving slowly, we move around all the obstacle's and items in our way. Taking the first street to our right, we move slow and notice vultures flying around all the front yards and when we get a better look, there eating remains; human remains.Covering my mouth with my hands, I just keep observing the horrific sight in front of me. Bodies were scattered throughout the yards. They have been long gone and the clothes covering parts of bones made me realize this might not have been a good idea. "Dad, this is giving me a bad feeling." Whispering as we
Making it back to the house, we help each person inside carefully. My mom managed to cover the couches with sheets to keep them clean so each person had a comfortable place to sit. They all looked completely terrified as they took in their new surroundings. The horror that is stained on their faces made me worried. I hope no permanent damage was done so my job won't be that hard getting them back to themselves. My mom started handing out bowls of stew to each person and bread. Watching them closely as their hands shook while holding the bowls and trying to eat. Nodding towards Don, he grabbed his stew and came to sit at the island next to me. "How long has it been since everyone ate?" Asking with pure concern in my voice."A couple days maybe. We rationed what we found in the nearby houses. Believe it or not, we had a group of twenty people and went for runs for food regularly." Pausing to take a bite of food and sip some water. "The last run we went on, we were attack
Each day got better and better. The first two days of having them here consisted of eating and sleeping so they could regain their energy. I knew this was going to be a hard process but noticing the change in each one of them was amazing.Waking up before the sun rose, I made my way to the kitchen like every morning to make my coffee and eat a berry muffin my mom made for us. As I sit quietly, I suddenly jump as someone walks in the kitchen. "Good morning ma'am. Sorry if I frightened you. I was just coming to grab some coffee and sit with you if that's alright." Smiling while I continue to chew the muffin, I take a sip of coffee to clear my mouth. "No that's alright, I'm not use to morning people. Your Angel, right?" Sure hope I start remembering their names because I hate feeling rude. "You got it. Would you like some help today? I don't like feeling cooped up and I have some energy tha
"Yeah, your right. You are irresistible now being an asshole." Turning around slowly knowing who that voice belonged to. Looking at Angel, I glance from him to the back room. Understanding what I meant, my father and I block Alex's view of him and entertained him in the meantime."What do you want Alex." Standing my ground, I will not let him put fear into me. "Well that's easy my love. I want you. I see that you found my play toys. You like what I made for you?" His grin was making me sick. All those bodies and innocent folk dead for his game. I don't know what happened to him but this man is not my husband."All those people you killed was not for me, it was for you. Why are you doing this?" Watching him pace back and forth with that grin was making me feel sick to my stomach. He could not enjoy doing this to people. Living this life
Swimming in a sea of darkness I feel nothing. Every now and then the hairs on my arm stand up and then it leaves. Where am I and why can't I wake up from this nightmare. The last thing I remember was being in the truck with my dad and Luke. I heard them mention Alex bit me, which would make myself turn into a wolf but why am I stuck in nothingness.Walking around I notice a glimmer in the distance. Walking towards it and the light shines brighter. "Well, nothing could get worse than being in the dark." Saying as I continue my stroll. The closer I walk, the clearer things become and I start noticing a door. Observing the random door with light seeping out from underneath, I place my hand on the handle and slowly open it with caution.Being blinded by the light my body feels like it's being pulled in as I strugle to open my eyes. "Where am I?" I yell as my body comes to a complete stop. Standing still with my hands in fists as I prepare for what happens next."Are
Sitting in the kitchen waiting on my breakfast, I get to enjoy my favorite type of mornings. The mornings where Luke and I don't rush and just enjoy each other's company. It's nice being back and after being out for a couple days, I feel like I missed out on so much. The group has maintained the garden and yard well without me. My mom came over to teach Sarah and Zay how to can the produce so we have it for the winter.Sarah is still doing well with her pregnancy. With all the baby items we gathered, she should be set for a few months after it's born. Zay is the only other woman that was in the group. She is eighteen and managed to travel here from Michigan when the pandemic started. Her family survived the drive here but when Alex attacked Don's group, she lost them all. It took a while for her to open up but Luke said she is talking a little more each day.As I continue to watch Luke cook, the door opened as voices began to fill the room. Turning around the room went
Looking at Luke through the window as a wolf was different. Jane felt so happy but I wasn't sure how I should feel with all these new experiences. As I start watching us move toward Luke and they start rubbing heads. 'Jane, why did you call Luke your mate?''Luke is your mate and Sebastian is mine.' She says as I try to think who that is. While being deep in thought, Jane spoke again. 'Sebastian is Luke's wolf. So, the way you are looking through the window, so is Luke. We are connected through a bond and as wolves, we mate for life.' Life is a long time and I was prepared to mate for life with Alex until he died; then finding out he was a blood thirsty wolf who turned us into one.Taking in my view, we start moving towards our parents. Making our way closer and Jane sits a couple feet away waiting for their reaction. The look on mom's face is terror but dad has a smile as he walks towards us.Placing his hand on Jane's head she closes her eyes enjoying the feel
Today is the big day. Today we have decided to head to the big city in hopes to find enough supplies and to gather lumber to finish stabilizing our home. My dad and I were able to find a group of six in town and this has made me worried about the what if's. What if we find more people? What if they are just as crazy as Alex?"Alright, I know how excited everyone is about going into town but I only want to take four trucks and one trailer. One person per vehicle in case of an emergency and if we also find more people there will be more room. With that being said, Luke and I will be going and were asking for volunteers for the other two." Looking around the living room, everyone stayed quiet glancing at each other. Just before speaking again, I noticed Angel raise his hand and I began to search the crowed to see if there was any more. Just as I was going to accept that three was the lucky number, my dad placed his hand on my shoulder. Shaking my head, I began turning to f
