I move around the kitchen in my fancy night robe, a tired look on my face as I set the coffee going. There are so many places I need to be today. The mall included. I've run out of groceries because I barely spent time at home, so couldn't stock up. It's either I'm at Bailey's, or, on a plane to an awesome new country, on my job as a designer.
Beep! Beep!... I set my mug under the machine, collecting little coffee, before I withdrew it, and gulped the whole content down. Strange! I didn't even bother to add milk or sugar to it.
As I walk to my bedroom, I made a mental note to call Bailey that I was coming over later today. But as I step into the bathroom, and my eyes set on the mirror in front of me, I realized I didn't look like a person that wanted to stay home alone till later on, so I grabbed my phone from the rack, and dialed Bail's number.
"Hey love" she cooed.
"Good morning...I wanna come over. Probably after I take my bath" I say.
"Sure thing. I'd need some help with Kai"
"She's not going to school today?" I ask with interest, my arms resting on the sink top. I'm naked and look awkward making this phone call while staring at myself in the mirror.
"No. She's got a one-week break!" Bailey sighed. "There's good news too, but you'd have to get here before I tell you"
"Or I could just call Kai, and she'd tell me" I Sass with a roll of my eyes.
"Stop being bitchy, and shower. Oh- and there's lots of ice cream with berries in the freezer" she informed me before hanging up. I suddenly felt happy as I skipped into the shower stall, allowing hot water to sprinkle all over my skin in the hardest way possible. It just released a whole lot of stress.

Bailey opens the door for me and I hug her, before handing her the one bag of flour I brought as a peace offering.
"Aww...thanks, you didn't have to do this"
"Stop it with the compliments, or I'll take it back" I threaten. Bailey laughs, shoving my arm. The next thing I know, Kai is running down the stairs of her father's big Mansion, to come to hug me.
"You're here, you're here, you're finally here!' she kept jumping up and down.
"You gave her lots of sugar right?" I ask Bailey while rubbing Kai's hand gently. The little five years old is the warmest kid I've known. She's graceful and funny. Very curious too, but once she's had lots of sugar than she can bear, she becomes a jumpy kangaroo.
"It was her dad. Got her some really sweet stuff last night" Bailey rolled her eyes, and just in time, Colton walks into the sitting room. He smiles when he sees me.
"Good morning Becca" He greets and I wave feebly.
"Morning, Colton"
"How'd you sleep?" He picks up his mug of coffee that Bailey had made.
"Good."
"Good? After you had a terrible date?" Bailey chuckled and Colton looks amused.
"Well, that's interesting. I'll leave you two to chatter about it. Because I know Bailey wants to" he geeks before walking away. I frown at Bailey for telling him that, but she's giggling behind her husband's back, so I throw the table napkin at the side of her head.
"That was a horrible night I don't want to remember" I sigh, sitting on a stool. Bailey sits next to me.
"Tell me about it"
"I already did. The guy was talking so much. Telling me about his grandma, how color orange saved his life...." I groan. "....who does that!"
"Ernest" She laughs.
"How'd you know his name?" I ask.
"I called Reid after you told me you were on a date. He told me his name" she smiles warmly before sipping her coffee. "Coffee?" She offered.
I shake my head. "No thanks. I had enough this morning"
"Wow. That must've been one crazy date you had" She snickered before looking all serious. "Anyway, I got good news"
"Yeah, you mentioned that on the phone"
Her straight black hair is flung to her back, ad she leaned toward me.
"Colton got a promotion at his workplace" she grinned and my eyes pop.
"Wow, that's nice. But I don't see how it includes me"
"He recently bought four tickets for a vacation to Aspen to celebrate" She smirked, before sipping on her coffee again. Great! Four tickets for himself, Bailey, Kai, and his unborn child. How amazing.
"And?" I urge.
"I'm simply asking you to come with us," Bailey tells me. "He got the fourth ticket for you"
I sniff letting out a smile. "Aww... that's so nice of him...but it's supposed to be a family vacation," I say.
"Don't be silly. You're Family" Bailey nudged my shoulder before getting up to deposit her cup into the sink.
"This is good news. I'm on leave so it all makes sense" I giggled, clapping my hand. Plus, a vacation could be the perfect way to get out of my little failure of having a boyfriend. I might just figure out that all I need, is myself.
Bailey is staring at me when I gaze up at her, and I found it creepy so I ask. "What?"
"Nothing" she then smiles. "Just that, you might meet someone..."
"Oh please stop!" I sigh because I know exactly where she was headed with that sentence.
"Come on, Becca. You've got to move on from Jacob and stop comparing every guy you meet, to him" she sighs, her hands on her waist.
"I've moved on ok? This has nothing to do with Jacob!"
"Oh yeah? Then tell me why you were checking him out on Instagram yesterday" she pins me down and my gaze remains steady before I started blinking rapidly.
"How did you know I did that?"
"Remember when you connected your phone to my wifi, but it was so slow, and you needed to do something urgently, you used my Email. And last night, I saw a login to Instagram with my email." Of course, she poked around.
I let out a sigh, facepalming myself. How does she not forget things, and why must she always know everything about my life. I move one of my fingers away from my face so I could peak to see if she's gone. But she's still standing in front of me, awaiting an explanation.
"Hey! I just got carried away ok!" I say. "Stop judging me"
"I'm not judging you" Bailey replied. Her eyes stern. "I just want you to be happy"
"I am happy"
"Stalking your ex?" She takes out an envelope from one of the kitchen cupboards, and slide it to me. "That's your ticket for the travel. We're leaving this Sunday"
"Thanks"
"Don't mention"

I report to Niki's desk the next day. I'm on leave, but I was supposed to run an errand today so I had to show up. Also, I didn't just want to spend the rest of the day, dwelling on my miserable excuse of a life.
"You're a minute late" Nikki points out. She steps away from her desk, only to work out of her office that smells like fresh wood, and flowers. I follow her behind.
"Sorry, traffic" I lie. The road was as free as most days today, but untangling my hair was a problem for me in the bathroom. All of me is a total failure.
"Hmmm," she grunts, her eyes scrutinizing me, before pushing the door to the dressing room opened. "Two shows are holding next weekend, and these attires would be needed" Nikki dropped the key to the dressing room on the coffee table.
"I'm to deliver them? What about Bob the driver as a delivery guy?" I question.
"You were late. You don't have any right to complain"
"It was just a minute"
"And I don't believe it was traffic" she narrows her eyes at me.
"Fine, I'll deliver them"
"Good, because you're not only delivering them, you're making sure our models have everything they need. Makeup, accessories, water and so on"
She swoops around. "Make sure they're comfortable"
"Yes ma'am," I say.
She claps her hands and two men walk in, rounding up the boxes of expensive clothes and taking them downstairs. "You'll use your car, yes?"
"Uh...yeah," I say and walk out of the room.

There are eight models from the company I work at, which is BEAUTYFAQ. The other models are from other companies.
"Alright, ladies. Nikki's not here, so I'm in charge" I tell them. Reid walks in with a long note and a pen in his hand, taking notes of everything going on. The timing the models walked in and so on. He stops beside me.
"How was your date the other night," he asked and I sigh.
"Don't even want to talk about it" I said before walking off and getting to them. He chuckles behind me.
The girls weren't hard to work it, except for the one time that a blonde model spilled her cappuccino on her dress. I don't know why I always run into issues like this. Also, she's not a baby for heaven's sake. I had to make her the last one to walk because we had to clean her up and think of a way to rebrand the dress.
"A lot of important people are out there," Reid said when he entered backstage again.
"Great."
"Claudia Rivalry is out there"
"Who the fuck is that,," I say, watching the makeup artist dab a colorful blush on a model's cheek.
"She's a great fashion designer, really stylish and she's known as the Fashion diva in the fashion world," he said and I snort. Yeah right, like I haven't been in the fashion world for a decade and I haven't heard her name.
"She's attended all the Paris fashion weeks. Last time, she took a picture with Cardi-B the rap singer."
I let out a sigh. "Ok, ok, let me see her." I peep through the curtains, my eyes following Reid's fingers until they stopped at a familiar brunette. She's looking all pin-up and perfect. Her rich black hair, straight and long. Even her body looks like those of the Kardashians. That's her!
That's the girl I saw on Jacobs's Instagram page the day before.
Jacob POVI'm sorry sir we don't sell Pinot Noir in glass," The bartender tells me. I had only one mission. To come into St Barbara bar, have a glass of wine, and leave because I'm mentally tired and in need of something. A toxic drink isn't my solution right now. Besides, I have to drive back to my place."A bottle then" I grit my teeth, and he nods before walking away. My fingers tap against the wooden table rapidly.Michelle is getting married!... I've tried to live so long with the fact that she's perfect just her and her two sons, Eric and Jones. Since her husband left, Michelle has been alone, and Evey single guy she dated, always turned out to be an ass-hole just after her money. No one is right for her. Michelle isn't my ex, but my elder sister, and someone that has al
Due to my issues with my dad, I couldn't go into the house just yet to speak with him. Instead, I stood outside my car, staring at the country fence he loves to put up, and wishing he'd come out and see my first before I go in. The thing I have with my dad has been since my mom left.He divorced my mom, I still don't why. She left, and got married to someone else, a few years later, she died. My dad attended her funeral and even dropped a white rose on it. A white rose had always been a symbol of their love. But honestly, since my mom left, dad hasn't tried to be with another woman. I'm happy for that, but I still hold this little bitterness in my heart, toward him for sending my mom away. I was still so young."How long till you go in, son?" I hear my father say from behind. He's wearing a colorful shirt with a brown jacket on it. His jeans look faded. With all the money I and Mich have, he
Becca POVI push my cart around the mall like a lost woman, just because I'm looking for Nutella. They're my favorite and can go with literally anything when I hear someone call my name. It's a huge mall, and only a few persons could know me, but I'm surprised when I see it's Ernest. He has a grin on his face as he walks to me, his hands in his pocket.Ok, what do I do now? I fiddle with the paper on the cart. I'm exactly used to running into failed dates. It happened once or twice, but that was a long time ago."Fancy seeing you here, but hey! You gotta eat" he pulls off a very lame joke that has me rolling my eyes internally."Hello, Ernest" I greet. "Nice to see you here""You too, Becca. I was looking forward to knowing you more, but you left"Here we go..
I retreat from the counter, forgetting my bags there as so many memories come flooding back. All the smiles, the laughter, the fun, the lovemaking. Everything about him because we did so many things together back then. I always knew I had to face him one day, Jacob. But I just didn't know it'd be this soon. And I always felt anytime I did see him, prepared or not, I'd be able to stand it but I can't. I just ran out of there like a coward. Afraid to face my fears."Becca!"No! No! He can't be calling me. Don't tell me he followed me out here. I increase my step, I wasn't running but I was fast walking in this cold, which seemed impossible when I first arrived.Someone grabs my hand swirling me around and I'm met with the most delicious Coral blue eyes, so warm and inviting. I shrug my hands away from him and he just stood there, unable to say a word. I on the other hand had a zillion things to say but didn't know w
JACOB POVI don't know what I was thinking talking to her but when I stepped out of my suite to take a stroll, I found her seating by herself on one of the tables, staring at the menu. She looked extremely adorable which isn't a usual term I used when it came to women. My words were usually, hot, sexy, fuck-able at this moment, she looked all of those things. Her hair looked freshly washed and her green sweater, so fucking innocent but I knew better. This was the same Becca that enjoyed the sexual part of our relationship more than even I did which seemed impossible.Yesterday, I was completely fazed to see her here. It was like the universe was trying to play some joke on me when I'd told my sister I wasn't attracted to Becca again, booked myself a Vacation, and there she was, like a living relic gaping at me.I should've let her run away because I deserve it, but I let my foolish heart follow her. A
BECCA POVFor some really weird reason, I add more blush on my cheek than I would have. My hair is bunched up in an almost tight knot. I'm wearing a black dress with a fur jacket. It's not a ball or a party but Bailey said to dress nice. She's been to their diner before, and I haven't.Reluctantly, I pick one of my best set of pearl eatings to go with my dressing. I don't wear a necklace because I didn't bring any, but I wish I did. There's a knock on my door so I skip to open it."You look good sunshine" Bailey praises with a smirk and I smile at her, locking up behind me. I'm enjoying this little vacation so far, except for the part where Jacob just keeps showing up and acting like a saint. I swear if I see him today again, I'll peel all my hairs off."Where's Kai and Colton?""Already at the diner""You guys left before me?" I gasp."No
Becca POVMy hands twitch and I pull away from Jacob, staring up at him, his eyes are glued to my lips as he watches me pant from the intense kiss we just shared. What is wrong with me? He's just using me and then he'd leave just like before.I walk away from him in silence, going to pick up my board that crashed against a tree while I was trying to come to a halt. Jacob is watching me steadfastly as I walk around aimlessly."What are you doing?" He finally asked."Trying to get back up the hill""You can just keep going down, and we can take a cable from there back up," he tells me and I bite my lip in embarrassment at how I didn't think of that. So I brush past him, walking down the hill."Rebecca!""What is it, Jacob?" I question, my eyes full of regret and anger."Don't act like that didn't
Jacob POVBecca is crashed out on her couch, her hand's folded beside her head, knees bent, and her lips pouty so that she looks too adorable that I take. I can't help but stare and grade my knuckles over her face. Since I knew Becca, she was always one with cold feet. And not the literary one. Cold weather disturbed her a lot. When we were together, she'd always talked about going to live in Florida, open up her restaurant, or a sea bistro. She'd sell the best meals, a lot of crabs, and even one a tuna grill. She was always a sucker for tuna. We discussed it. How we'd finish school in NY, go to Florida together and start a life there. Also, she didn't need to bother about the cold.Back then, I'd also done personal researches. I was like a lovesick teenage boy that found a germ and wanted to treasure it forever. Becca was my everythin
