Chapter 5

I search on the Internet about the blood moon it stated that the blood moon is in two days from now. Besides that, I couldn't find anything except for the basic facts about the lunar eclipse that I already know. I put down my phone, paced back and forth thinking about what I'm missing. I need to solve this puzzle before it's too late. The blood moon is in 2 days and someone is going to come here. Who will that be and what will the thing that will be claimed. Is this some kind of ritual that is going to be performed on the night of the blood moon? I am going to wait until it's dark then I will go to the mansion, 'maybe my answer lives in there' I thought. So I sat down on the bed again and started to plot the scheme that how will I enter the mansion. Someone already lives up there and, there are people here who work for him. What if they catch me breaking in?

I was so terrified of doing that, then I thought if there will be the threat of someone watching me then I won't go in, but just look around the place. I know that it is a terrible idea but what other choices do I have. I can't run from here so, I decided to face it.

As the night approached I went downstairs, the hall was empty no one was there. Where is everyone? I thought. That already looked so peculiar. I was hesitant to carry out my plan but I still gathered all my will and sneakily went outside. The storm had stopped and left puddles of water, the air was thicker and frightening. I could tell something is wrong. I slowly walked towards the backside and saw all the vehicles were parked. Where is everyone if the cars are here? I thought as I walked towards the mansion while ducking down and hid behind the wall on the side of a mansion. I was looking for windows just then I heard the sound of a frightened bull. I traced the voice with my eyes and found out that it was coming from the thick trees on the other side of the mansion. There were some people there, after looking properly, I saw everyone was there, that's why the hall was empty. I was shocked to see that they were carrying out a bull in the middle of the bushes and David was holding up a big knife. They were chanting something in a language that I didn't identify but I get that they were performing a ritual.

I steady my breath to calm the panic. The bull was restlessly fighting to get out of the grip and just with one push David laid down the bull on the altar. The chanting became faster and louder, all of them raised their burning torches as David raised his knife and yelled.

“We offer this sacrifice for you oh Lord. May the destiny be fulfilled as the blood moon rises with all its Glory."

And slit the throat of the bull until it was completely detached from the body. Terror sucked the breath from my mouth, raising the hair all over my body. My pulse started to beat in my ears blocking out all the other sounds.

He started to walk towards me with the head in his hands. I hid behind the wall and watch carefully as he approached the mansion’s front door and everyone else followed him in a queue. The blood was dripping down from the head of the Bull as he carried it inside the Mansion with both his hands. Everyone followed him too. Now is the best time to save my ass and go back to my room before anyone sees me I thought to myself and steadily started sprinting towards the Motel. I slipped and fell on the slimy wet mud and bit my tongue, the metallic taste of the blood-filled mouth but there was no time to deal with it. I got back up and headed straight to my room without even looking back. I locked my door and headed straight to the bathroom and spat out the blood, gargled with water, and watched my face in the mirror with shock and dismay.

 Everything I thought turned out to be true, as I was standing in front of the mirror, I closed my eyes and when I opened them I was once again at that dungeon. Chills went down my spine as the thick and cold air wrapped around my body. This time the dungeon was lit with the torches which I saw earlier in the ritual, they were now neatly hung on the wall. The shadows danced across the brick walls as the fire from the torches flicker. I sensed someone walking up to me and tracing a hand on my waist and then there he was, standing right in front of me, before I could see his face my vision went black as he leaned in. It felt like I was under a spell. His hands were now holding me in an embrace and his nose was gently brushing on my forehead. I experienced all of his emotions as if they were my own. Our breaths became one as he pressed me against his chest. I tried to speak but I couldn't and bit my tongue again. He leaned in, put his lips on mine, and squeeze me. A drip of blood went down from the corner of my mouth and a sense of empathy rushed into me, I was sensing his feeling as he felt sorry for my pain, he licked the blood off my mouth and kissed me intensely. I was weak in the knees, his hands went down my body and then slowly traced back. He held my hand and handed me something, I slowly drifted into the darkness as he said " the night is near when that monster comes, I have handed you the only thing that will protect you from him, Rosa, you have to fight him" his voice fades as I opened my eyes and saw myself in the mirror again.

I felt like I was a hangover. I felt something in my hand; it was a dagger with silver carving on it. Was he telling me to kill the king? Am I in danger? A rush of terrible thoughts flooded my brain. Then I put the dagger on the slab and washed my face with cold water. When I looked in the mirror and checked my tongue, to my shock, it was healed. A sudden knocking on the door alarmed me and I quickly hid the dagger in my boots and covered it with my jeans. I sensed the danger, something is about to happen. The knock on the door intensified. I went to the door and opened it. Courtney was standing there with Britney and one other girl who had the same tattoo too.

“you look surprised," she said as she forced the door open and walked in, I turned around to face her.

“What do you mean?" I said.

“Oh c’mon, rose. I saw you behind the wall. Do you think I’m stupid?” She said and walked towards me

 “You belong to us now". I panicked and furiously punched her in the face with all my strength. The two girls behind me tried to hold me down but I keep resisting.

Courtney groaned angrily and punched me back.

"How are you so strong," she said in frustration. "Hold her down," she said to the girls.

"I’m trying," Britney said while catching her breath.

I kicked her in the face just then David came in and blew powder in my face, everything starts to blur and I passed out.
