CHAPTER 6

Adeline Monteiro~

I had slept in the cramped up place of Eva and the rest of her roommates but since I wasn't all that comfortable with it, I woke up early and was able to have my bath, I wrapped the towel around my body and walked back to the room, Selina and Eva were both entangled which only made me chuckle, This isn't the first time I will be sleeping over at Eva's place but then it wasn't like I am a frequent visitor. I pulled my bag and began to dress for the day, I could only hope that I got the job. I wore my clothes and pulled down my hair from the ponytail that it was in. now out of all the features of my body, I loved my hair the most and took care of it like my baby. I have long wavy brown hair that didn't need much work to get it bouncy. I brushed my hair and applied lip gloss to my dry lips. I was done dressing up and looked at Eva who was still sleeping and snoring. I bent over slightly and tapped her so she could wake up but of course, I needed a whole serenade for that "Eva!' I called out her name this time and called out her name which thankfully she did respond to. "What?" She asked sleepily, gently rubbing her eyes as she sat on the bed "I am leaving now, I just wanted to tell you that." I said and she nodded "Yeah, yeah, whatever." She replied and laid back on the bed, I sighed and picked my bag but then she sat up again like she was in a daze "you are leaving already?to the interview?" She asked again and I rolled my eyes "Yes, to the interview." I responded and she nodded 'Good luck." She slurred out and I chuckled "Thank you."I whispered and walked out of the house. A wave of cold fresh air hit me, making me shiver internally, it had been raining cats and dogs all through the night. I began to hasten my steps once I checked the time, the interview was starting by 9 am and now it was 7-48. I burst out on the road and boarded a taxi to Central park south. I had taken some money from Eva and she sure is going to flip but then again what are friends for right? I prayed internally that I got the job. In no time we arrived at the place, I got down from the taxi and paid the taxi driver, I waited for my change and after I collected it, I walked into the extremely,extremely large building by the right which jhas "ASHFORD" written boldly on it. my legs felt queazy as i walked into the furnished building but i was determined to get the damned job. I walked stragight to the reception where I saw a lady who I guess was the receptionist. She looked like she was in her late twenties, had a white blonde hair and pale skin, her eyes were extremly blue with thin lips, "Welcome to Ashford, how may I help you?" Her voice came out surprisingly firm "Hi..Good morning, I am here for the interview." I said and she raised her eyebrows slightly, She streched her neck forward and looked at me in a very distasteful manner. "Is something wrong?" I asked, feeling self concious of my appearance but she smiled, an extremely fake smile "None at all, You said you are here for the interview right?" She asked and I nodded again, I was pretty sure I was more than clear the first time. "Please sign the attendance book, take the elevator to the top floor and ask for Dan,." She said and I nodded, taking the pen on the table but she stopped me "Actually, I would need to dis-infect the pen if you touch it but if you may please use a pen from you, you see I have a weird reaction to things like this." She said and I paused, I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded, reaching into my purse and brought out my pen. I signed the book, I walked towards the elevator but turned back to see the receptionist shuddering, I looked down at my appearance one more time still baffled with her behaviour, stepping into the elevator and pressed the top button. I looked at myself in the mirrior but still couldn't understand what was wrong, I placed my hand over my mouth to smell my breathe but it was fine.' I got out of the elevator once I got to the top floor and then looked around, I saw a young man who from the looks of it was working in the company 'Sorry to bother but I am asking for a certain Mr Dan, I am here for the interview." I said and he paused "I am Dan and was just about to get back to work, If you will please follow me" He said and I breathed a sigh of relief, Imagine If I had spent some more time talking to the mannequin downstairs. we walked towards a room where I saw other applicants, my heart dropped to my stomach on seeing about twenty people apllying for the same post. 'Thank you," I whispered and sat down, my legs was feeling wobbly, I sat there clutching my bag to myself, A lady opened the door "Applicant 1" The lady said and a man stood up and walked out of the room. Time went by and different people were called in, My heart was thumping so hard hat I thought it would burst out open, I was the only one remaining in the room. the door opened and the same lady looked at me "Applicant 20." She said and I stood up, i took a dep breathe and exhaled 'I had to get this Job as soon as possible." I walked with the woman and passed through a hall way, The woman leading me stopped at a door and gestured at me to go in, I took a deep breathe and exhaled again, On the door was 'McGuire's' boldly written on it. I gently knocked on the door and waited for a response "Come in.' I heard a deep voice say and I twisted the door knob, I walked into the large, Crazily, biggest office I have ever seen in my life. I walked quietly and stood by the chair. The office was painted in a white paint,some blue couch was at the side of the office, A glass large table and some amazing drawing of flowers hung on the walls. Have your sit." The man said but his back was turned ,looking at the wall. I could tell that he was a very tall and broad chested man, A deep smell of chocolates and vanilla filled my nostrils. "I m sorry for keeping you waiting.' The man said and turned to face me. My eyes widen on seeing who it was. The same man from the club? The one I spent the night with? "Mr Hot Specimen?" I blurted out.
