Chapter 6 - They meet

Aiden

A touch on the back greeted me.

"Are you all, right?" As he approached my side, Matt remarked.

I reassured my pal, "I'll be alright."

I tried to breathe normally while closing my eyes. Those two had a habit of infuriating me.

"Apart from his physicians, nurse, and bodyguards, I don't want any visits for Grandpa. No one should be permitted to enter his room. Those two, in particular." I murmured, nodding at Fiona and Will as they walked away.

"Done! Do you want to stay the night?" Matt inquired.

I gave a nod.

"I'll arrange for an extra bed for you. Please contact Wendy if you require any other assistance. She works as a nurse. She's also not your type." He joked.

I smiled back at him. ++"Even if she was my type, that's the last thing on my mind. Thank you so much for everything. I appreciate it."

"It'll be OK. I still have some rounds to make and reports to write. If you require any additional assistance, please contact me."

He walked away after giving me an extra pat on the shoulders.

Fiona and William continued to reside in the family mansion for a variety of reasons. My father had written a will a few months before his death, specifying that Fiona and Will be cared for and permitted to remain on the Reiner estate. As long as Fiona continues to be his widow and bear his surname, she was to stay at the family mansion.

Will and I had also received a portion of my father's fortune and company shares. I received 70% of his portion, with the remaining 30% went to Fiona and Will on the condition that I do not push out my half-brother. Even if I hadn't gotten the 70 percent, I wouldn't have done it. Regardless of how unruly he was. He remained my half-brother.

Of course, being in the same house disgusted me. As a result, I remodelled the mansion and built a separate wing for myself. I spent my time at my penthouse on most weekdays. Grandpa, on the other hand, was adamant about staying in the main mansion because it was where he had spent his whole life and would not relocate because of those two 'freaks.' As a result, he was surrounded by bodyguards and security. I didn't have faith in those freaks either.

Fiona and Will resumed their obscene behaviour right in front of Grandpa's eyes.

My father's 30 percent stake in the company, plus the company's stock, could easily support them if they lived modestly. Will, however, was squandering his fortune on gambling, drugs, and prostitutes. Fiona had asked grandpa's help on more than two occasions when Will had been apprehended by the cops. Shutting up the media was another headache.

After ensuring Grandpa's safety and comfort. I removed my jacket and sat down on the bed. My mind strayed involuntarily to the mysterious woman I had seen on the streets.

She had become ingrained in my mind. I'd circled that area several times in the hopes of catching a glimpse of her. I'd even parked my car nearby and waited for her to arrive.

I'd spent so much time wandering around that area and crossing the same crossing as her that I could have done it in my sleep. That was, after all, my usual route.

It was completely ridiculous. I had no idea why I was acting in this manner. What did I hope to accomplish? Bed her? There was no shortage of willing women for me. What good would it do me if I could just get her into my bed? A sense of accomplishment? Wasn't my life already difficult enough? It was most likely due to my workload, which was now catching up with me. Yeah, that’s what it was. I concluded.

The sound of rustling jolted me awake. Grandpa was struggling to get out of bed as I opened my eyes. I threw off my comforter and dashed over to his bed.

"Grandpa, what are you doing?" I said this while grasping his arm.

"Now a man can't even use the restroom without being harassed." The old man, complained.

"Yes, you certainly can. Let me dial the nurse's number." I murmured and pressed the red button besides his bed.

"I don't require the services of a nurse; I am perfectly healthy. I'm not in need of a hospital......"

"Are you trying to flee again, Mr Rainer?" A woman's voice rang forth. A woman dressed in a neat nurse's scrubs entered the room. Her dark hair was pulled back by a blue headband that matched her scrubs. She appeared to be in her 40s and had a pleasant smile.

"Mr. Reiner, how are you? I'm Wendy, and I'll be looking after Mr Rainer, the senior." With a pleasant grin, she addressed me.

"Thank you for your assistance, Wendy. Please address me as Aiden. Grandpa has to go to the bathroom." I stated.

She gave a kind smile.

"No, he doesn't; he has a catheter attached to his body to meet his needs. Mr Rainer, do you want to go for a walk?"

As though she were speaking to a child, she addressed Grandpa. I couldn't keep a smile from appearing on my face.

"I do, and now get this ruddy thing off!" he said gruffly.

I had to intervene to prevent him from removing his drip.

"Grandpa, you must pay attention to this lovely lady. She has come to look after you." I tried to persuade him.

"Thank you so much, I can take care of myself. I'm in great shape l. Now, hurry up and get me home before those jerks wreck everything." He mumbled.

"How about you have your medicine and breakfast, Mr Rainer, and then we'll go for a walk around campus." Wendy offered to help.

My grandfather appeared to relax and contemplate her comments. Wendy's ability to comfort him was impressive, and he eventually seemed satisfied enough to take his medicine and breakfast. I even pushed him in a wheelchair.

I finally left the hospital in the late afternoon. I'd previously dressed up in a white shirt and suit. Thanks to my secretary for sending a few additional outfits. I intended to go straight to my office.

As I was about to depart, Grandpa remarked, "Remember what we talked about Aiden."

"What did we talk about?" I asked, while putting on my jacket.

"Get married and give me an heir."

I sighed exasperatedly.

"Sure, grandfather," I said as I walked away.

I was still sleepy and hadn't gotten enough sleep. So, I went to the local Starbucks to buy some coffee. It would most likely clear my head. I went to the coffee shop and was about to walk in when I noticed a flash of yellow right in front of me. I went completely still. She was right there. I forgot to take a breath and gave her another hard, hungry glance. She was just as stunning as I remembered. Her outfit consisted of a soft yellow blouse and black jeans. She was holding a cup of coffee and rummaging through her bag for something. As she approached me, I locked my gaze on her. Despite the fact that I was well aware that I should have moved. I let her collide with me. Her coffee spilt all over my white shirt as it slipped from her grip. As I stared at her, I scarcely felt the heat. She had come so close.

"I'm really sorry," she apologised. Her voice was warm and husky. My ears began to become red as blood rushed to my brain. She was stunningly attractive. She came to a halt when she gazed up at me. My gaze was drawn to her gorgeous green eyes. In those emerald depths, there was a terrible emptiness. I wanted to learn more about them. The feelings were exposed, and it rocked me to my core.

"I'm sorry, I didn't see," she apologised once more.

I whispered, "I finally found you."

She gave me a perplexed look.
