First party

"Damn, you are so hot, girl!" Someone hollered followed by a lot of catcalls as soon as I entered the house where the party was going on.

"Gosh, this is so embarrassing," I mumbled, tucking a stray lock between my ears.

Alan chuckled whilst gripping my hand. We walked further into the vast room which consisted mainly of college students.

Music blared out of the speakers situated at each corner of the room. It was loud, but not enough to defend us.

The party looked decent since I hadn't seen anyone drunk.

"I said you were gorgeous, didn't I?" Alan said.

He had indeed said it. Also, I hadn't believed him due to the stunt he had pulled the first time he drove me home.

"Geez, but when you said it, I felt better because you were kidding. Now, it made me look like a piece of meat." I grumbled.

"I wasn't joking," He argued then continued. "You are the most beautiful girl here tonight. I mean you are not trying too hard to get noticed."

I glanced at him for a few seconds to see if he was teasing me. However, his expression was unreadable.

The reason I hadn't tried too hard was that Alan had practically hauled me out of my room after stating there was a party tonight. A party which I knew nothing about.

He had only given me the grace to slip into something decent and hadn't bothered to allow me even to put a lipgloss on.

"Hey, Alan!" A boy with dark cropped hair and slate grey eyes waved.

He ambled towards us, and I noticed he had a piercing each on his lip, eyebrow and ear. His gaze lingered on me for a few minutes before he spoke.

"Who is your friend?" He nodded towards me with a smirk.

I found him attractive, but he wasn't my type of guy. I had nothing against piercing. However, I didn't like the way he was ogling me like I was his prey.

"Meet Jake, the host of this party," Alan said, pointing to the boy. "Jake, this is Jessica."

"A pleasure to meet you." I smiled politely.

"The pleasure is all mine." He winked. "How about we get together later?"

I rolled my eyes at his attempt to flirt with me. Before I could decline his offer, Alan replied. "About that, she's with me."

He tugged me towards him, and my body slammed into his hard chest.

Jake's eyebrow lifted as he assessed both of us.

It was awkward having two boys stare at each other down because of me. I hadn't been in this situation before, and I didn't know how to react to it.

"Let's go over there." I blurted out.

I pointed to an opening that looked like the backyard of the house where some people were huddled together.

"Alright. I'll see you later then, Jessica." Jake grinned.

He didn't seem to be fazed with what Alan had said. Rather, I saw a hint of hope on his face. Perhaps, he thought if he tried harder, I would oblige.

As we stepped into the opening, cool air smacked my skin and I shivered.

"Here," Alan murmured, slipping out of the sweatshirt he donned.

I noticed the shirt he had underneath, and how defined the muscle in his chest was. This was the first time I would see him without his sweatshirt.

"You don't have to," I muttered, rubbing my palms together.

The temperature here was different from the one inside. I had zero tolerance to cold, and I hadn't thought of taking my jacket to cover my exposed body since it had been warm earlier.

Also, I wonder what I had been thinking about wearing a halter top when I know what would happen if I exposed my body to the frigid air for too long.

"You are trembling."

"Of course, I am." I giggled. "But, you should wear it, I'll be fine."

"You don't look fine to me." He grunted.

Forcefully, he slipped the sweatshirt over my head.

"Thanks," I said breathing in his cologne.

"Anything for you, princess." He smirked.

My eyes tried away from his face to my surroundings. I noticed a small pool which consisted of several people. Cool music was playing in the background, and they grounded into each other in the pool.

I glanced away when a boy winked at me.

"Hey, Alan, nice to see you here." A girl with red hair said.

A bright smile decorated her heart-shaped face, and she giggled slightly when he returned the smile.

She scowled when her eyes landed on me.

I did an eye roll before surveying the rest of the group. Each gripped a red disposable cup which was handed to me too.

I grimaced as the strong aroma of the content wafted through my nostrils.

I hadn't tasted alcohol before.

It wasn't like I was a goody-two-shoes. But, I didn't want something that would make me humiliated at the end of the day. I had seen how people acted when they were intoxicated, and it wasn't a pretty sight to see.

"Can I get water please?" I muttered into Alan's ear whilst pouring the content of my cup in his.

"You don't drink?" He frowned.

"I don't," I stated.

"Oh, it's fine. I'll be right back." He murmured.

Whilst awaiting his return, I observed my surroundings once more.

The house looked nice on the outside, and even better inside. It wasn't huge. However, it was okay for a night party like this.

"Hey, new girl." Red hair hollered. "Stay away from Alan, he's mine." She sneered.

I shook my head whilst ignoring her. It wasn't like I was interested in Alan. I wasn't even interested in any guy here.

"You should respond when I'm talking to you." She stalked towards me.

She shoved me and attempted to do so again, but I stopped her.

I knew a b*tch when I see one. A lot of people had tried to bully me, but I hadn't given them the chance when I was in high school. Furthermore, I knew how to put somewhere like her where she belongs.

"First and foremost, it's Jessica for you. Also, if you have a problem with me, say it to my face." I finished with a fake smile.

"Oh, b*tch can talk." She grinned.

She hoisted her hands to smack me, I caught it midair and shoved it away.

"What the heck is wrong with you?" I glared.

"Your face is what is wrong." She said, tugging her hand away.

"Just watch your back." She said, then sauntered back to her seat when she glimpsed at Alan's approaching figure.

"I see you are friends with Jade. She is nice." Alan handed me the plastic bottle filled with water.

"Indeed," I said.

I guess you never know who was nice until you saw who they were inside.
