Chapter 48: Begging

Jovie’s POV

Something wasn’t right.

Why wasn’t I bleeding? Where was the blood? I saw a little hole in my dress, where I swear the bullet entered, but it didn’t penetrate me. Why?

I felt around and realized the underwire in my corset had stopped the bullet. But Reno didn’t have that. 

I crawled over to him. 

“Reno? Baby, look at me. You’re okay.” I put pressure on his wound as Jasper got closer. “Somebody call the ambulance!”

“I don’t feel good, Jov,” Reno choked out.

Another shot rang through the air.
