Chapter 4- She's Human

-Aspen P.O.V-

"She's human," Aurora blurted out, my mom began squealing like a 10-year-old girl and my dad stood there shocked. 

"How can you have a human as a queen?" Father said furious.

"Oh honey, let them be. They were made soul mates for a reason," my mom calmed him down.

"But how is a human suitable for the role as queen? This is why we should have Jax as king instead of Aspen, and Aspen is too immature for his age, he is not fitted for the role as the king," my dad blabbered. “He doesn’t even like humans.”

He was right, I never wanted a soulmate, I was the type to only have one-night stands, that’s what I was known for, I didn’t care for anyone’s feelings. I only cared about the pleasure I was receiving every night. Honestly, I didn’t care for the girl, I didn’t want to, but something deep inside me was telling me otherwise. “Dad, it doesn’t matter if she’s human, it’s best if we get to know her.” Aurora cut in.

"Honey, I was once too a human you gave me a chance,” mom said.

“I don’t care, having Aspen rule the vampires will be our down fall, he will not become king.” I know Jaxson should be next in line, but he refused, he didn’t want to become king of vampires. “Aurora please call your brother here.” Aurora walked off trying to find him, and I went off to find my sweet Lavender.

-Skylar P.O.V-

After Aspen left me, I started walking around so I could find something to drink and also find my brother whom I had lost in the crowd, when someone came up to me.

"Hey, you must be Skylar. I'm Jaxson, Aspen's older brother," he said holding his hand out. I shook his hand and then removed mine from his. Jaxson looked a lot like Aspen but looked much older, but of course Aspen was way hotter. Wait, what am I saying? I hate vampires, I will never like one. “What are you doing all alone?”

“I was trying to find my brother; he should be around here somewhere.” I told him.

“Well, I’ll help you, what does he look like?”

“He’s tall and he’s got blonde hair” I chuckled.

“Is that him?” he pointed towards Hunter.

“Yeah, thanks.” I walked towards my brother who was surrounded by girls, he was known for being a player, he was a chick-magnet, all the girls followed where he went. In high school he had everyone at his feet, but I was the loner, the girl no one liked.

"Hey," I heard a husky voice behind me.

I turned around to see Aspen, he grabbed my hand sending sparks throughout my whole body and I was so close to collapsing. 

"Move in with me, live in the palace so I can be near you and I can protect you," he asked me.

"I don't know, I need to get home, my brother should be waiting for me."

"Oh, come on," he said giving me a pouting face. Might I say he looked so hot with his eyes popping out and how could I say no.

"I'm not sure, living in a house full of vampires is not my thing."

"Please, if you don’t I guess your brother over there won’t be seeing another day," he threatened.

"Fine but if you try anything I’m chopping your dick off," I gave in.

-Aspen- 

Once the ball had ended, I took Skylar to my room and gave her my shirt, she walked into the bathroom. I walked towards my closet, getting out a pair of my basketball shorts and slipping them on after taking my suit and shoes off. My lovely mate walked out the bathroom, the shirt I had given to her went up to her knees, her golden legs showing turning me on. Skylar started gathering all the pillows making a wall in the middle of the bed. I gave her a confused face. "So, you don't put your filthy vampire hands on me and I also don't want you biting me again," she sassed. 

“I’m glad you decided to stay with me.” I said looking at the wall between us, wanting to see her beautiful face.

“Don’t flatter yourself, you practically threatened me.” she growled at me.

“It’s for the best.”

“For the best my ass, the best thing for me is to stay away from you, you attacked me.” she shouted at me.

“I didn’t mean t-“ I started.

“Don’t, I don’t want to hear it, just stay away from me and don’t talk to me.” I could hear the sadness in her voice.

I watched as my beautiful mate fell asleep, once I knew she had fallen asleep, I removed the pillow wall she made, pulled her into my chest. I watched her throughout the night, not wanting her to leave my arms, I knew I never wanted a soulmate, but right now, I couldn’t have asked for anything more, she would make the perfect queen. I listened to her light snores as I drifted off into an endless sleep.
