Chapter 13

I hadn't heard from Matthew since the other night and frankly it didn't ease my worries.

The burden of carrying such a secret still weighed heavily upon me and I was constantly on edge, waiting for the next attack. I had been trying to convince myself that keeping this secret was for our future, giving up Maria's identity would only allow the Vampires to launch a mass attack on our pack in order to destroy the poison.

Maria had been MIA since she revealed all she and her husband had done. Not sure if she was doing alright, I decided to pay her a visit, curiosity getting the better of me.

Knocking on the door I jumped when someone immediately shouted. "Go away!" I thought about leaving, but I needed to know how she was doing, so I knocked again.
