Damian
“The High Queen has summoned for you,” my father muttered as soon as I entered his study. He was busy scribbling something in his notebook, as he always did, too busy to pay attention to his family, always free for everything else. I clenched my jaw, not bothering to take a seat. His chairs were occupied otherwise with papers, books and stuff.
“Why?” I asked, disinterested. I hated the palace. Despite being a vampire, I get freaky vibes from the officials there and the High Queen. She just made me feel uneasy. But to everyone else, especially according to my parents, I am her favourite and they try to push me and involve me in every palace related stuff because they wanted me to become an official in the court. As if being a prince of the north wasn’t enough.
“What do you mean, why?” My father finally looks up from the scribbled notes. I scowl. “I mean, why do I have to go running to her, every time she calls for me?”
My father’s brow knit together, his lips form a thin line. I am familiar with this expression. He is going to give me yet another lecture on how it is a privilege to be called by the High queen, how anyone would do anything to stay in her favour. So I level my gaze with his, and ready myself for the same. But surprisingly it never comes. He exhaled a deep sigh and stood up.
Placing an ink-stained hand on my shoulder, he said, “Ian, we have no choice but to comply and you don’t have either.” He turned back, silently dismissing and leaving me baffled as ever.
As I walked to my room, my thoughts oscillated from what my father just said and about my so-called mate. Do I tell this to Melissa? But my sister had a big mouth so she would definitely tell such a huge thing to our mother. I settled for keeping it to myself for now.

The palace was cold, as it usually was, and heavily guarded. Sometimes, I got flashes of grainy memories that did not add up to this place. “I was summoned by Her Highness,” I announced to the guard standing outside the court.
The guard bowed and moved aside. When I entered, the queen was alone. She sat on the always polished and shining golden throne, which honestly looked ridiculous. Who in this century sits on a throne?
Her red gown rippled as she stood up and walked down the flight of steps, a movement that seemed awfully familiar to me. I bowed respectfully. “Her Majesty summoned me.”
Her red-painted lips curved into an icy smile. Her calculative gaze remained fixed on me. “You went hunting in the lycans’ forest?” Her tone was not reproachful, but it was authoritative. I inhaled sharply. How did she…?
Well, of course, she had spies everywhere. I squared my shoulder. “I was...exploring,” I replied. In honesty, I had almost navigated to the forest, as if called by someone. I was hunting in the suburbs, and then I sensed something and before I knew it, I was racing towards the woods.
The Queen gave a minute nod. She then turned her back towards me and walked up the small flight of steps before sitting on the throne again. I clasped my hands behind my back, focusing on the blue flames burning on the torches attached to the walls. The court was bare of any other luxury.
“I choose to believe you, Damian. But please be more careful and mindful of place and people,” she replied, boring her gaze into mine. I nodded stiffly.
“I have called you for another reason. I would like to send you to destroy the Blackwood pack. The pack near the woods you visited,” she said. I stiffened. The girl’s face flashing in my mind instantly. Even though she had rejected me, I still felt the bond. Feeble, but it was there. The thought of vanquishing the pack, seemed extreme, as most of her commands were, and even though I wanted to, I was in no position to question her decision.
“Prince Damian?” I startled and looked at her.
I hastily bowed. “As Her Majesty wishes.”

For the first time, I felt something foreign settle in my gut. I felt cagey, restless. I took out my phone and called Aaron, my right-hand man. “Blackwood pack is creating problems, I heard?” He replied after a few moments. Maybe surprised by my behaviour. I usually order them to wipe out the packs that create problems and doesn’t wish to negotiate.
“Ah...yes. Their alpha is not ready to negotiate with us. Should we wipe them out?” His voice was dangerously sinister. These small packs didn’t stand a chance against us, but this time I was hesitant. “No...give them a warning and if they still fail to negotiate, then…” I paused. “Kill them all.”

Myra
I woke up from a restful sleep, which in itself alerted me. I was never allowed to sleep in. I looked out of the roof window and saw that dusk was settling in. I sat up. I hurriedly went out of the room, ignoring the protests of my sore muscles from such rigorous movements. My heart pounded and my Akira whimpered. I had been feeling weak for the past few days, after rejecting that blood-sucker. But I managed to do my chores and attend classes. When I reached the main hall, I found it deserted, which alleviated my panic. Where was everyone? I frantically searched every room, but not a single person was in sight. My heart sank as realisation slowly dawned upon me. They had left and abandoned me in the process. Yet I refused to believe it wholly.
They wouldn’t be that cruel, would they? Did they forget about me? Did they forget to inform me that they would be shifting to some other place? I was breathing heavily as I stood in the middle of the room, looking around the bare space. My vision blurred as the weight of reality sunk in even more.
It seems now, not only I am a mateless omega but also a rogue.
MyraMy legs buckled as I felt a sharp pain lance through my body. ‘The bond….it’s breaking,’ Akira said feebly. I knew my pack saw me as a burden, but to this extent? I didn’t know. That they would abandon me to die, I couldn’t fathom. In the 17 years of my life, I have never heard anything so cruel.I suspected that this might be due to the problem in negotiations with the blood-suckers. I clenched my fists as tears rolled down my cheeks. I wanted to blame them for everything, for killing my parents and now making me a rogue. But at the back of my mind, I knew it wasn’t their fault. It was my pack who are too hard-hearted to even care for one of their own.The silence in the vacant room was taunting. How come I slept through all this? I couldn’t help but wonder. Then I
MyraAkira takes over once again. I can feel her sadness as she watches her mate go. The wind has picked up, causing the leaves to rustle. I have never spent the night in the wilderness, never even gone camping. I would have shivered and trembled and probably caught a cold if I had been a mere human, but my wolf kept us warm.My mind wandered as the night darkened. The occasional hooting of owls broke the silence before it reigned back again. Where did my pack go? What were they doing now? Did they remember that they had forgotten me? Were they relieved that they could finally get rid of me? These questions kept coming back, kept plaguing me through the night until my eyelids became too heavy for me to keep them open.I was woken up by the chirping of birds and another presence. Akira became alert,
Myra The vampires circled around me while I foolishly remained frozen in place. My eyes turned heavy and belatedly I realized that it was due to the sweet-smelling scent that vampires emitted to make their prey immobile. I made peace with the fact that this might be the end of my short life, but at least I will be relieved of my misery. ~~~~ I groaned as my senses slowly came back. I opened my eyes to a room drenched in morning rays of the sun. A room that was wholly unfamiliar and luxurious. The windows were decorated with rich and expensive looking curtains; the walls were painted tastefully and the bed on which I was lying was the most comfortable that I had ever gotten the privilege to sleep in. For a dreading moment, I thought that I had been captured. It was unheard of about girls being taken away by their m
Damian I stare at Carlos and Vianca's charred bodies. This is a wizard’s or a witch’s handiwork. I scoured the area. There were no traces of any kind. Suspiciously even that omega was gone. That, however, did not increase my worry for her. The spot where I had left was vacant and flies were buzzing around the carcass I had left. Aaron made a face at the scene. “Fucking idiots.” I couldn’t agree more. These two newly formed vampires were getting ahead of themselves. I had heard multiple complaints against them, disrupting and breaking rules. “Who could have done it?” Aaron voiced my question. I shrugged. “Ask someone to put them in coffins. Inform their family.” “Yes, boss.” Aaron got to work while I subtly tried to search one more time. On my way back, I halted when a thought struck me. Could it be...Andrew?
Myra “I...will stay. If that’s okay,” I peer at my soon-to-be guardian, who looks back at me with a suppressed smile. Beside me, Violet is bouncing on her heels excitedly. The moment I had agreed, she had pulled me up and almost dragged me downstairs. By that time, Andrew had emerged from the dining room and was heading somewhere. Eric was unfortunately nowhere to be seen. “Welcome to the pack of misfits.” My eyes widened as if I was waiting for him to reject, to tell me that he had changed his mind. But he was only smiling gently, his eyes kind and clouded with an unfamiliar emotion. Violet squealed and I couldn’t help but wonder whether she reacted this way with every newcomer. My unvoiced question was soon answered as the girl fist pumped. “Finally! I am not the only she-wolf.” I looked at Andrew quizzically, who only s
Damian “Why do you address me like that?” I asked before gesturing to him to take a seat, but as always, he remained quiet. He never tells me why he addresses me like I am someone from the 18th century. He might be from that era, but that’s not an excuse for him to address me like that. He is a great wizard, a famous one at that and calling me that sometimes makes me feel ashamed and awkward. “Fancy seeing you here,” I said. He inclined his head. “I returned from...abroad a few days ago.” He interlocked his fingers and rested his elbows on the table. “So why this impromptu visit?” I prodded. Was it about the killings? “I have rescued your mate.” “What?” His lips twitched at my surprised look. “Well...she
Myra This time, I didn’t dare transform. Whoever it was, didn’t sound friendly. I could sense Akira coming back to her normal self. She had become alert. ‘What happened to me?’ she asked in a panicked tone. I scoffed but did not answer her. Right now, that wasn’t my concern. Sun rays streamed in through broken windows and wherever they had found a crack. Creepers and roots had embraced the walls like one would wrap a scarf around their neck in winter. The place was creepy and gave off bad vibes. “I didn’t believe it when I got the news about your ‘rebirth’. I had laughed for quite some time, but now I see that the news is true,” the masculine voice said playfully. Rebirth? What the hell? “But it’s sad that you got to become a...dog this time,” he said contemptuously, spewing nonsense
Myra “Connor?” I repeat dumbly. Who the hell is that? My voice seemed to bring him out of his trance. His gaze snapped towards me, eyes widening slightly. His lips curled into a small smile, fake one. “Ah, sorry. He is...an acquaintance of sorts, not very welcomed.” His lips tugged up looking more like a grimace than a placating smile. “Is...he dangerous?” I couldn’t resist asking. “No,” he replied, a little too fast which always meant the contrary. I forced a smile which turned into a nervous chuckle for some reason. “Uh..okay?” I silently exited the library because I did not want to ponder on coming across someone potentially dangerous. However, throughout the rest of the day, the word ‘rebirth’ kept repeating in my brain like a broken record. Why did that guy say this? Did re
