5.5. A Black Mustang

It was almost two thirty when Kiersey found herself back on the highway on her way home. She pressed a button to ease down her window and breathed in fresh air. Her hunger pangs were acting in again. After the pancakes she had thrown up this morning, what remained was the diet coke she had bought from a vending machine in the hospital and the junk from the gas station. If she had been in school, she'd have bought lunch or even made one in the staff lunchroom.

She sighed and leaned back in her seat. But she was stuck trailing a nameless, faceless guy that had donated the sperm for her baby.

The hospital had suggested utero testing of the foetus, it would have been easier that way to know without running around looking for the guy. But that also came with the risk of miscarriage and that was a risk Kiersey was most definitely not about to take.

Ryan Vice was definitely in Cali. She was going to have to take days off work to travel all the way there. But he was around and alive was what mattered. She just hoped her journey wouldn't be in vain. It would be such a total bummer if he turned out not to know or remember anything about the sperm donor.

She'd have preferred to get his number and save money and time by asking him over the phone but Coke hadn't had his new number. He had only been able to provide his address and the fact that he had spoken to him a month ago. So, she had had no choice but to go over to meet him in person. She had already called her agent and booked a flight for Thursday.

The flight money and other costs nibbled at her again. It wasn't much but was a little significant enough to show in her account. She sat forward in her seat and brushed a hand through her dark blonde hair. She had better prepare for more expenses that were surely to come.

Rocco had probably blocked her from their joint account, she was pretty sure she could confirm that if she checked her email, but that didn't really matter to her. The account had been ninety percent his savings anyways. She had her own personal account where she kept her own savings that Rocco never had any idea about.

That had been one of the few things she had been able to keep away from him. She smirked, sending silent thanks to Kevyn, her brother, who had insisted she not let go of her old account or let it go dormant.

She had quite a fortune in her account that could sustain her living comfortably, but she still held on to the idea of moving out of her apartment to a house. It would be good to let go of her old memories and anything that would remind her of her old life, of Rocco. Also, living in a house would mean fresher air and a more quiet surrounding and all these was good for her baby.

She was just turning on her right blinker to turn off the lane when a familiar black mustang zipped past. The passenger's side tinted window was down and she had seen the laughing brunette female. She looked very much like Sienna. The next breath caught in her throat.

Rocco, that bastard! He had lied about travelling out.
