Chapter 4: A gentleman's smirk

Here goes nothing...

"The more you say

     The less I know...

 Wherever you stray

      I follow..." 🎶

Everybody smiled and joined each other in a low-fi dance as I sing the song.

It's fun today so just let's enjoy our little moment.

JAIDEN

The office's door opened again and Dan entered.

'Sir I just got a call informing about some problems in one of our new investment plans' Dan said standing aligned, his eyes looking down straight at Jaiden.

'What's the issue?' Jaiden questioned with his casual firm voice still focusing his eyes on the quarterly report in his hands.

'Sir, the investment we are planning to make in that new mineral company seems to have some legal loopholes. Sir, I have this report in my hands which I asked people to collect for me. It has all the faults written that we need to check, to prevent any future legal complications' Dan said passing the file in Jaiden's hand.

Jaiden opened the covers and went through it as Dan stood quietly in front. His eyebrows furrowed and his expressions went dim.

The investigation papers had notes about the people's view regarding the upcoming mining plans in the area. People were not happy with the idea of forming a mine in their village it could potentially lead to a wide protest and bring legal police issues to the company.

'This issue need to be checked before we can even think of going ahead with investment of millions.' he thought

'Call Liam to investigate this matter' he said putting the file aside joining his hands together placing them on the table, he rested his chiseled jaw on his hand going into some deep thinking.

'Ok sir' Dan answered and left the room

Just after a while Jaiden's phone rang and he immediately knew who it could be. Putting aside all his work he prepared himself to waste his few minutes in some futile chat and picked up the call.

'Sending more work my way?’ the cheerful voice came through like always.

'Any complaint?’ he asked back in a grumpy voice.

'How can I complain, more work more money right Mr. Richi rich' he giggled through the phone being so happy with himself for no reason.

'What's your plan' Jaiden asked in a straightforward manner without beating around the bush. He is in no mood to waste time with this guy's gossips, giving him a chance to stray away from the topic is not a good idea.

'Well, I will go to that place today and check the situation myself' Liam assured

'I need the ground report by tomorrow' Jaiden ordered in a cold voice

'Tomorrow?? Hey that's torture, its too soon' Liam complained in a weepy voice

'Like you have any other work, dates not counted?' Jaiden questioned raising his eyebrow. He knew how idel Liam's schedule is, if left alone like this he will just go on dates with some actresses and then come gossip about them.

Liam looked at his state lying upside down on his couch wearing beach shorts and having a glass of cherry juice in another hand. His couch and table in front of it, everything was covered with discarded packets of chips, cans and other litters.

The room's window was shut close not letting an ray of light in .

'Well yea okay...' he replied weakly there was nothing he could argue with seeing his situation and Jaiden is right he actually has a date with Scarlett that he now needs to cancel.

'Oh hey Jaiden I just remembered do you know Scarlett is goin...' as he was about to continue with his usual prattle Jaiden hang up the call.

'going to do...' Liam stopped abruptly

'Borther' he called out again looking at his phone with confusion 'Again he hung up on me' he yelled in his mind taking a sip of his cherry juice.

'Its not that good I might need the real thing soon' he said looking at the glass. After a while he finally got up ruffling through his hairs yawning as he walked to the shower.

In some time Liam entered back the room from shower, his damped hairs lay down on his forehead as droplets trickles from them moving pass his long roman nose. He walked to the huge mirror in the room with a white towel hanging down his hips. Reaching the mirror he stared back at him with those light blue eyes of his and with his usual smirk, his usual attractive appearance was back.

He dressed himself in a seamless white suit putting his blue tie around the neck staring at his body in the mirror at front. His gentleman demeanour was back, same demeanour responsible for bringing all those ladies to the dates.

Liam stood in front of the mirror checking himself content at heart with his appearance but the background behind him was in shambles not at all in symphony with the gentleman at front.

He took his car's keys and exited his apartment suit walking ahead to the lift. The lift's doors open and there was a lady inside tapping all over his phone, she looked up and her hands stopped.

Liam stood at front and gave her a smile entering the lift.

'Hi' she said with a petite smile.

'Which floor' she asked raising her hand to press the button.

'Ground' Liam answered politely'

...and you' he questioned her back.

'Oh same' she answered coquettishly with blushing smile pressing the button for ground floor. Liam had already seen the button for floor number two pressed but didn't say a thing not appropriate to questions a lady's heart call.

They chatted a while and even arranged a future date together. Liam had a personality that could click with anyone. In a while they reached the last floor and he exits the lift followed by the lady afterwards. She wasn't too happy about the idea of him going away but still waved him a bye standing in front of the lift.

He waved back to her making his way towards the parking and entering his all time favourite white Porsche 911 that was standing peacefully in a corner. Turning on the engine his journey began it's a long way ahead.
