Austin's POV
"Austin! We have a case." Aaron said to me.
"There's a terror attack at the Blue Square building, there's one casualty." Jason explained.
"What? Let's go!" I said then wear my jacket.
"Austin!" Aaron called me and threw me a taser.
"Use it accordingly." He warnings.
"I know." I said then chuckles. We all run towards the car and Jason put the siren on.
After some minutes we arrived at the building and we saw that there's still a crowd even though there's one casualty.
"Let us through, we're the police!" Jason shouted and we saw a woman lying on the ground, she was bleeding badly and unconscious.
"Have you seen the culprit?" I asked to the guy who's holding the woman.
"No, I was looking at her and she suddenly run towards me and shot by gun. Everything happens so fast." He said hysterically.
"The ambulance is here, sir." Jason said and I give way to the rescuer who's holding first aids and other things.
"We have to get your statement, sir." I said to the guy and he just nods.
"No one can leave this place, you should get statements from these people and look if there's a witness." I ordered to Aaron.
"I got it, you go first to the station." he said and left me.
"Come with me, sir." I said to him.
"What about Yana?" he asked, maybe that's the name of the woman.
"You don't have to worry, she will be transported to the nearest hospital." I said to him.
"Please let her go to Imperial Hospital."
"But that's not the nearest hospital." I said.
"She has to be in that hospital!" he shouted, still confused but I called the ambulance and direct them to go to the Imperial Hospital.
"I already said it to them, we now have to go to the station." I said then I saw him following me. We arrived at the station and I let him sit first at the interrogation room.
"Can you speak how the incident happened?" I asked him.
"I was the one who's talking with those people who are protesting about our products. You know our company, right? We are selling lunchboxes and the last incident accused us that our food has poisonous components which leads to deaths. But, we have no idea how that incident happened, we can show files of legality and inspection with our products to prove our innocence." He explained.
"Then, Yana suddenly went out and telling me to go inside of the building instead of talking to those people."
"Why do you think she said that?"
"I don't know but she recently got messages." He answered which got my full interest.
"What messages?"
"I know I may sound crazy, but she got messages from the day her father died, week ago. It says that her father will die in an accident, but she ignored it and her father really dies at the end. We are thinking that the sender was the killer, but we do not know who's sending them. Then now, she said I'll be the one who's gonna be shot and she saved my life." He ended and put down his dead for regrets.
"Can I see those messages?" I asked.
"I think Yana still carries her phone with her at the ambulance." He said and I left the room after he said that.
"Jason!" I called him as soon as I saw him walking at the hallway.
"Yes, sir?"
"Are you done collecting statements?"
"Yes sir, but none of them actually witnessed who shot the victim. All of them are focused on shouting and they did not saw any suspicious person around." He reported.
"Okay, I got it. I have another question."
"What is it?"
"What did you get from tracing the sender I said to you?" I asked and he suddenly became wary of his surroundings.
"Sir, I am not sure if we should believe in it, but the cyber team said that you are the one who's sending the messages to yourself." He whispered.
"What? That's impossible. I don't know that something like that would happen." I said to him.
"That's what I think, sir. That is why I let them if there might be someone who hacked your phone."
"What did they saw?"
"No one sir. The messages were all sent in single line, no outside parties involved."
"How in the world I received something like that?"
"You can change your phone number and phone itself if you are still skeptical about it, sir." He suggested.
"No, I would like to know what would happen at the end. Oh, you should retrieve the victim's phone also."
"For what?" he asked innocently.
"I just want to check something." I said then left him.
Am I not the only one who's receiving those messages?
Quianna's POV
Sudden felt consciousness and I forced myself to slowly open my eyes. White ceiling welcomes me the same as I see in movies. Normally, the protagonist would ask if he or she is dead, but I know that I am in the hospital because of the dextrose I felt in my hand.
"Yana! Are you awake? Do you recognize me?"
"Of course, fool." I answered him, still weak but still I managed to smile a bit.
"What a relief! Why would you do something reckless like that? What if you die? Do I have to blame myself for my whole life?"
"Stop nagging me, Dylan. What a unique way of saying thank you." I said then slowly getting up.
"You still should lie down, you're still weak." He said then hold my shoulders.
"I am good, I can kick your ass any moment." I said jokingly.
"But—"
"No buts, what happened to the case? Did they catch the one who shot me?"
"Not yet but the police get you phone." He quietly said.
"What? Why?"
"I said that someone's texting you, so I guess they are investigating it." he said and opened a can of peaches.
"They would not see anything." I answered.
"Why would you think something like that?" someone entered the room, some guy that I don't know.
"Yana, he's detective Austin, the one who's investigating your case." Dylan introduced.
"So, what did you got from it?" I asked directly.
"Can I talk to you privately? Just asking few questions." The Austin guy said and I just stare at Dylan.
"No, I should also hear your conversation." Dylan said, very childish.
"Get out, Dylan." I firmly said to him, he has no choice but to leave the room.
"What do you want to ask?" I said then reach for the fork and the can of peaches at my side table. I saw him walking towards it and give it to me.
"Do you believe those messages?" he asked.
"I guess so, I am witnessing them one by one, and I have no reason to ignore it." I answered honestly.
"Do you have any idea of who can send it to us?" he asked.
"Wait, us? You are receiving too?" I asked, very surprised, it does really happen in real life.
"Yes, but in my case, I can catch suspects and criminals through it."
"And mine, I can avoid those things to happen." I realized.
"We tried tracing both senders, but it still resulted the same as previous results, we are the one who's sending it to ourselves." He said.
"But, how can I know when will my father die? How can I know if a flowerpot would fall from the rooftop and how in the world would I know if when would something like this would happen? This is all insane!" I shouted. I don't know what to believe anymore.
"The same as mine, how would I know where those killers and criminals would be located?" he insists.
"But, do you realize that you became so dependent with it. What if it disappears, how would you, a police, would catch those criminals?" I asked suspiciously.
"Come on, I am the ace I can investigate it further."
"But, how come you are not investigating who shot me? you just focused on the fact that I also received those." I reasoned.
"I-I would investigate it of course, I just want to be sure if the culprit know you or just a stranger protester that time."
"But do you notice that they are just disappearing? On the day my father's accident, CCTVs on that highway is not working. The flowerpot incident also caught no one, also now, and the case was turned over to an idiot detective." I said continuously.
"What did you say? Idiot? How could you say that to person you only saw for the first time?"
"Haven't you heard about the term first impression? You show idiotic vibes so I was just believing my guts." I said then start eating the peaches again.
"Don't be so judgmental there!" he shouted.
"Looking at you being defensive, I think my first impression would last." I said to him and grinned, he looks like a familiar friend which you can nag and tease anytime you want.
"Enough with that, I just came here for one purpose." He seriously said.
"What do you want?"
"Quianna, be the witness."
---
Quianna's POV"Quianna, be the witness." He said with seriousness in his voice."What are you talking about?" I asked."You have to tell me every time you received a message, by that you would not be involved in any of it." he explained."But why would I do that?" I confusedly asked."Cause, I am with the police and you're just a civilian?" he answered"I can protect myself." I said to him."Yana, I think I should go." Dylan suddenly entered the room."What's with this atmosphere?" he asked."I shall go also, seems like I got her statement completely." Austin said to us."I got it, thank you very much, sir." Dylan answered and Austin left the room."Dylan, I thought you'll be going to?" I said to him."Right, I should go. Rest well." He said then smiled at me.Now that I am alone in the room, I can have peace and think about his offer to me. To be honest, I am tempted, I also do want to know w
Austin's POV"You are alone inside and before entering the elevator, sir." He reported."What are you saying?" I asked."What is it, sir?""Nothing, I got it." I just answered him but still confused about who is that woman. I did not saw her face as she's still looking downwards while still talking to me.I walk towards the room of Quianna, but peek first to see if she's with someone inside. Upon seeing that she's alone lying on her bed, I entered the room and checking the place."What do you want?" she said while facing her back on me."I just got a report that the assailant went in this hospital." I answered."What? Did you catch him?" she immediately asked."Not yet, but our team is tailing him now, you can hear good news later." I answered."About my offer, have you thought about it?" I asked to him."I am still not sure. I can ask help with my best friend." She answered."But he's not a police o
Quianna's POV"Then I am just stuck at being your friend?" Dylan said to me."Are you drunk?" I jokingly said to him."I did not drink." He answered, another silence happened between of us."But why are you acting like a drunk?" I asked him."Who's drunk? I am not drunk!" Aina suddenly intervenes and collapsed after she said that."Yana…""Just go home, Dylan. I just want to breath fresh air." I said then get my jacket.I left Aina's apartment and sat on the wide bench here. I looked up and I saw a lot of stars shining at the dark sky. They looked so beautiful together, then this crazy idea suddenly crosses my mind, what if those stars are actually planets and people lived there, our parallel selves living at one of those stars choosing the things we do not do at this planet we currently live. That's so amusing, people are the same, but their lives differ on what choices they apply."What are you thinking so hard
Austin's POVI arrived at the station before the dawn breaks, I saw some constable moving around the whole place."Sir, you're early." Jason greeted me."What are doing here? Did you not go home last night?" I asked him."Aaron won't let the team go home until we found the suspect." He answered and started drying his hair with his towel."That guy, where is he?" I asked to him."I think he's at the evidence room" upon hearing it I went upstairs and go directly to the evidence room. I entered in and I saw him watching something on the monitor."What are you staring on, too early in the morning?" I said to him, and I realized that he's sleeping soundly."How dare you sleeping in here while the team is up the whole night?!" I yelled at him and smacked the back of his head."Austin! That hurts!" he shouted when he woke up."That hurts? Get a grip Aaron. I'll be out later." I said to him."Where are you going?"
Quianna's POVI saw the rescuers immediately responded to where the driver is. They are preparing for moving the victim out of the car and I just watching them silently and still worried about how badly that woman got injured."Ma'am are you sure someone is here?" one of the rescuers approached me and seriously asked me about it. I looked at him confused and glance at the driver's seat side of the car."Yeah, she's badly hurt. She's bleeding all over her face." I explained to him, and I saw him looking very confused like what in the world I am talking about."But, no one is here, ma'am." When the rescuer said that words to me, I felt my senses left my whole body. I feel numb, I definitely saw someone in there, bleeding badly."What are you talking about?" I just said to him and run towards the driver's seat. I looked at it and saw the seat was empty but there were traces of blood on some parts."Maybe somebody helped her to get off from the
Austin's POVI am standing here in front of the Imperial Hospital, Quianna should insured her life as she's always entering hospital since the day we've met. I directly headed towards the information desk and asked the room of Quianna. When the lady gave me the room number, I immediately walked towards the elevator and calmly pressed the floor button where the room is located. This time, I think we should stop thinking that everything is happening unusual, for it was really unusual. We should start asking how it happened and who's behind it, that's my agenda with Quianna today."Come in." she said upon knocking once."You knew that I'm on my way here?" I asked her immediately and put a basket of fruits on the table beside her."Yeah, Dylan told me." she answered and scanned the basket."You don't have to bring something like this." She said and started picking the grapes."This will be the last, can you stop going to hospital?" I sarcastical
Quianna's POVAfter Austin left, I think about all the things he said to me. Should I really need to leave the company for good? Do I have I focus on investigating my father's case? When should I tell of this to Dylan? I know I should trust my best friend but there's something about him that kept on telling me not to spill every detail that Austin and I have. I felt somewhat bored as I stare at the four-cornered white walls of this hospital room. I stood up and pull the dextrose stand with me as I walked through the hallways, it was a night of quiet and chilling place for me, this is the reason why I hate hospitals, I hate places that have no person in it, I hate to be alone.I continued walking and I reached the end of the side of the hospital where the rest place was located. It is a huge place enough for people who are visiting their loved ones in this floor, it also has tables and chairs used mainly by the doctors and nurses who are staying all night just to attend
Austin's POVQuianna received another message, why does it have to be now? The cases kept on piling up, but the culprits and suspects are still out there, free, and unknown by the police. After the dispatch happened during the terror attack, the person who's seen at the CCTV was discovered to be a corpse and now the whole force is being pressured by the media, they said that the police became soft on catching criminals that is why we are letting them free, all craps they are saying. After she called me, I immediately run out of the station and get in the car, I put the address on the map and it's somewhat far from here. I put my seatbelt on and stepped on the accelerator hard. I hope she's still doing okay despite of being pressured and worried about her mother, she should not loss another person especially if were dealing in some supernatural phenomena like this.*Phone calls*"Sir! How could just leave us here?" Jason said as soon as I answered the call
