Chapter 2 - Premonition

A maroon BMW type 325i is driving at high speed on a paved road. As if it didn't want anything to get in its way, the car overtook every vehicle in front of it without hesitation.

Jack-the man with the wound on his face was seen sitting in the front seat. His hands gripped tightly on the steering wheel of the car he was driving. His eagle eyes stared intently at the path he was walking, but his mind was lost in thought. Jack reached for the cell phone that was in his pocket, then he looked at the phone screen while driving. There were several unanswered calls from her father-in-law. "Why do you keep calling me? Has something happened to Lilyana?" Jack then called back his father-in-law, but now he is not answering his calls.

For some reason, during the trip Jack felt uneasy, there was a sudden sadness that came to his heart. However, he tries to always think positively by dismissing all the feelings that weigh him down. The air that was a little stuffy made Jack suffocated even though the car air conditioner was on. He just felt that he  need more fresh air, his hand then opened the car window beside him. Little by little the wind blew against his thick hair and also caressed his face. Feels cool to calm his raging soul. To accompany his journey Jack turned on the music player. One by one the songs were selected by pressing the button on the car tape. Not long after, the strains sounded limp, a very classic song.

"Your taste is really tacky, Boss! What can I expect from this old car." Jack smiled wryly when he heard an old song playing. The maroon-colored car picked up speed, as if nothing could stop it.

Again the feeling of anxiety creeped back into his mind, Jack increasingly felt uneasy, "What's wrong with me, why am I feeling so uneasy like this? Has something happened?" mumbled Jack. The man tried to remember what Paul had said to him before he left. However, Jack remembered well that Paul didn't say anything about Lilyana-his wife.

I the middle of the road unexpectedly a hunch suddenly came to Jack. When accidentally a small bird that came from nowhere crashed itself into the windshield of Jack's car, "Shit!" Jack felt very shock, a moment he lost control of the car and got off the track. From the opposite direction, a pick-up truck was seen coming, but Jack quickly got his car back on track.

Tiiiinnnnn, the sound of the pickup truck honking loudly as it passed Jack. Then a man shouted cursing at Jack from inside his car, "Hey, Man. What's wrong with you? Do you have a problem or do you want to die!" The man in the pick up car also pointed his middle finger at Jack. However, Jack didn't seem to care about the reprimand of the man in the pickup, and he could only see the past pickup through his rearview mirror.

"Almost." Jack took a deep breath, he was still carried away by what had just happened, " If I had not acted quickly, I might have ended up like that bird." Jack activated the glass swabs to remove the remaining bird feathers. Actually, the trip from Jack's workplace to the hospital is not far, it only takes about 15 minutes. However, it seems that the current journey feels long and also a little difficult. If you think about it a few times Jack almost got hurt on his way to the hospital. However, all of that did not give up his intentions in the slightest.

This day the weather seems unfriendly, since the morning the sky looks cloudy. The sun was so reluctant to shine because it was covered by thick black clouds. Soon a cold wind slowly greeted along with the arrival of raindrops. Slowly the clear droplets began to fall to the ground. At first the droplets of water were only as thin as a needle, but over time they became heavier and heavier. The buildings, roads, and even the car Jack was driving were now soaked by the rain. The man with the wound on his face was still driving his car under the pouring rain. Arriving at the hospital Jack immediately parked his car in the basement. Soon he got out of the car and immediately looked around. A glass door that reads Mother and Child Hospital became the goal of the step. Jack ran there, he wanted to meet his wife-Lilyana soon.

The pungent smell of medicine was palpable in the senses the moment Jack stepped into the hospital. A lab was on the ground floor of the hospital, and Jack was there now. Tried to find the reception desk, but Jack couldn't find it. Until he asked a female nurse who was standing not far from him. Jack walked over to the woman who was looking serious with the paper stuck to the clipboard.

"Nurse, sorry to interrupt!" Jack felt a little embarrassed to the nurse. The woman in the white uniform who was standing with her back turned her head when she heard a man's voice ask.

"Yes, what is up?" the nurse asked. Several papers were piled up on a board she was holding, and in the other hand she was holding a pen, "Is there anything i can help?" Continued the female nurse with glasses while looking at Jack.

"Excuse me, where is the delivery room?" asked Jack with a worried face.

"Oh, the delivery room is on the first floor. You either take the elevator over there or take the stairs next door." The female nurse told Jack while pointing at a silver elevator door.

Jack's eyes immediately followed the nurse's hand, and coincidentally several people rushed out of the elevator when the door opened, "Thank you, Nurse." Without another word, Jack ran straight to the elevator doors which were almost closed, "Wait!" Jack shouted.

A middle-aged man who was in the elevator saw Jack running, but then he helped Jack by holding the elevator button so that the door wouldn't close. Then Jack arrived in the elevator just in time, he stood by the old man.

"Thank you, Sir," said Jack, slightly out of breath.

"You're welcome, Young Man." The middle-aged man smiled at Jack.

"Which floor?" asked the middle-aged man again after the elevator doors closed.

"First floor. Thank you very much, Sir," said Jack.

The middle-aged man nodded his head when he saw Jack, and said, "No problem, Young Man."

It didn't take long for the elevator door to open on the first floor, and Jack got out of the elevator. He saw Flint Davies-father-in-law waiting in front of a room.

"Father!" call Jack.

"Why is it taking so long, Son? We've all been waiting for you!" Flint's face was gloomy, sadness shone in his eyes.

"What's the matter, Father? Has something happened to Lilyana?" asked Jack suspiciously.

"Jack, let's go inside first," said Flint.

Flint's hands wrapped around Jack's sturdy shoulders, Lilyana's father seemed to want to strengthen his son-in-law. Jack complied, he entered the room together with his father-in-law. There it looks like Lilyana slumped and helpless on a hospital bed. His face was pale, as if the blood had stopped flowing all over her body. Jack stepped towards Lilyana's bed, slowly he realized something odd.

Rosse Davien-Jack's mother-in-law was standing beside Lilyana's bed, and she had been crying all this time. Rosse covered her mouth with a handkerchief, the woman was trying to hold back her sobs.

"Mother, what's wrong?" asked Jack.

Jack was confused by this situation, especially with his wife's condition. However, Rosse just grabbed Jack's shoulder and then walked away.

Rosse approached her husband-Flint, and said, "I can't stand to see our daughter lying there." Rosse then burst into tears she couldn't hide her sadness anymore. Then Flint hugged Rosse, and tried to strengthen her.

"We have to be able to accept it, because this has been Lilyan's decision from the start." Flint tightened his hug on his wife, because he feels very sad too, seeing his daughter's condition.
