Chapter ONE: A Kidnapping

All I hear is screaming surrounding me as I lay on the ground next to my dead father, mate, and son.  Rouges had attacked our pack when we were the weakest.  Half of the pack including most the warriors were attending a mating ball at the next territory over.  We were outnumbered, which lead to most of those left, dead.  I was beaten and bruised and left as the rouges cleared out after killing who they were after.  My family.  What they didn’t realize is that when they left, I was still alive and already making my plan on how to avenge my family.  It was only two days after the attack that I was made Alpha and my journey as the first woman to be Alpha of the Lunar Moon Pack and run the pack without a mate at my side.  That was four years ago and now I have the largest, strongest pack in the nation all because I lost everything I loved the most.

These nightmares have continued every night since my family was killed.  The screaming, crying, blood, pain, sorrow, all emotion runs through me in the nightmare until the point I am made Alpha, that's when I sit straight up sweating, crying, praying to the Moon Goddess to help ease the pain away.

Normally I am able to finish the nightmare but this time I was jolted awake when I heard,  “Alpha!” screamed into a mindlink by my Beta Henry.  I rolled over and groaned as I looked at the clock. 2 am.  I rolled back over, trying to go back to sleep when Henry screamed again,

“Alpha! You have visitors at the gate.”

“It’s 2 am Henry, tell them to go away,” I linked back to him.

“It’s urgent," said Henry, "it’s the Wiccan coven leaders from the neighboring town.”

This got my attention as witches and werewolves has hated each other for as long as anyone can remember.  But yet, I have two standing at the border of my pack.

“Search them and bring them to my office then,” I linked back.

“Yes, Alpha.”

I drug myself out of bed and went to wash my face to wake myself up.  I threw on a pair of yoga pants and a t-shirt and headed to my office.  About 2 minutes later Henry walked in with the warlock and witch. I studied them as they walked through my door, they both were looked distraught and upset.  As I was watching them enter my office, the warlock spoke “Alpha Minerva, My name is Simon Porter and this is my wife Celeste, we apologize for calling on you at such an hour, but we desperately need your help".

“What could you possibly need the help of a wolf pack for?” I asked them.

“Our 4-year-old little girl has been kidnapped,” replied Simon.

“But that does not answer the question, why do you need the help of a wolf pack, let alone my pack?”

“She was taken by wolves and they left this letter for us.”

I hesitantly picked up the letter and smelled of it.  With being werewolves, our senses are heightened so being able to decipher distinct smells is easy for us.  I knew the scent on the envelope but could not quite place it, so I opened the letter to try for a better idea of who took the child. It read,

Mr. and Mrs. Porter,

We have your daughter, she is rather precious up close.  We would hate to have to hurt her if you don’t give us what we want.  You have 1 week to gather more covens to help take out the Lunar Moon pack or she will die along with a member of your coven every day we have to wait.

Tick Tock

I sat there for a minute rereading the letter.  I was fighting whether or not I should help them because my pack is the Lunar Moon pack, while trying to decide, I placed the scent. “I will help you both find your daughter, but with it being so late let’s retire for the night and start fresh in the morning, 8 am in my office.  You both are welcome to stay in a guest room right down the hall.  Henry please show them the way.”

“Yes Alpha.”

“Thank you so much Alpha we are in debt to you for this,” Mrs. Porter said.

I waved them away as I sat in my chair thinking about how I was going about questioning the Alpha of the neighboring pack who also happens to be an ally of mine.   I headed to my room to head back to bed to lay down.  I sighed when I realized I agreed to help a set of supernatural creatures who are supposed to hate our guts.  I lay hoping we aren’t being set up by the witches, considering no pack has helped witches in centuries.  I don’t have the strongest, largest pack in the nation to be taken out by a bunch of witches.  As I drift back off to sleep, all I could think of was who in the Red Moon pack wanted to take out mine and why.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day.
