Chapter 4: SCUM BAG SYSTEM

It was a busy day and Lin Zoe was practicing.

"I finished the daily exercise I need to go to work," Zoe said as she watched at the time

She stretched and then felt her tummy growling.

"I'm so hungry, I want some pancakes," she murmured exhausted as she advanced for the  kitchen 

She walked on the staircase and reached the main parlor before entering the kitchen. 

"It's just now that I realize this house is just modest and normal," she said

"He has such a luxury car, the last Bugatti model. He could live in a manor, why this house?" She asked herself confused

"Anyway, It's ten times better than living on the streets. This kitchen is so cute, I love it." Zoe praised 

"Humm... Let me see what I can find here. Some flour and milk. Perfect! I just need some sugar and spices."

At that very moment, Shen Zi entered after waking up from bed. 

"Hello! Are you on the breakfast?" Shen Zi said with a sore face yawning

"Oh, you're awake," Zoe said surprised

"Right!" he nodded. 

"Yes, I'm on some pancakes with butter and maple syrup," she said smiling softly as she prepared the batter

"Think you have to take care of your face for a while." She said slightly embarrassed as she peeked at his face

"Please fry me some eggs and bacon. We will eat together." Shen Zi said sitting on the chair 

"I thought about what you told me yesterday. I understand, but can we talk about it later? I got much work to do and many questions to ask you."

"No problem. Just do what you think is right." Zoe said approving

She took some eggs, fried them until golden after she added some salt and pepper, and placed them on a plate. She grasped the fresh bacon and roasted it on the pan until crispy and bright pink. She decorated placed the bacon on the plate and served it. 

"Here you are, good appetite!" she wished happily

"Same to you!" he responded

"Miam! They're super delicious." He said as he ate the delicious food

After eating at home, the driver sent her to the agency. She met her Senior and knew she had work to do. 

"Good morning! Senior." Lin Zoe greeted

"Please come here!" she called

Lin Zoe did as she was asked as she was willing to listen to what she wanted to tell. 

"You have a charged training and you will have to go to a parade for March," she said

"The Spring parade is not too popular. But if you manage to get much advertisement for the company you will be promoted." 

"I already accepted the job." Zoe agreed

"I will do my best on the platform." 

It was just she could feel gleam in her heart and joy. She had been accepted to a parade since her rebirth and that could only be good news. She went to the office of Tsu Lian and knocked at his door. 

"Mr. Tsu are you there?" She called

"It sucks to call him out." she thought

"Yes, enter." he responded

"I've called you because I wanted to tell you about your work," he said with cold eyes as he placed his hands on the table

She started feeling chills all over her body and cold rushing in her stomach. 

"uh oh! I will be fired!" she thought naughtily

"I wanted to say that... your hard work on this company was well appreciated and many people talk good about it. So, I wanted to give you another offer and augment your salary to 20%." He said with a relaxed and soft expression

"20 percent?" she said filled with a great amount of joy

"Yes!" he responded

"So much money!" she thought fluttering like an angel

"Thank you very much you don't know what it represents for me." Zoe said performing a 90-degree bow in a sign of respect even though she was disgusted

"You can get out, I got work to do." He said mildly looking away

She opened the door and left the office. 

"This is called the Scum bag system, you are creating trust in me and it will lead to your ruin."

Lin Zoe had spare time for revision on her physique. Shen Zi proposed to take her out for some ice cream. Beijing was big and in the street where they were passing by were tall skyscrapers and terraces everywhere. 

"Thank you for taking me out for some ice cream," Zoe said smiling at Shen Zi

"I just wanted to help you. It's the least I can do," he said proudly of himself

They were walking at a slow pace to reach home and wanted to cut away from the car for a moment. The afternoon was chill and the sun was shining brightly. Fortunately for them, they wore sunbonnets. Even though, it was a beautiful time as they were together. 

"Uh! I don't even know if I'm working or relaxing." She said realizing she just started working lately

"Actually, you're relaxing," Shen replied cooly

"Why are you so mean?" Zoe said trying to tease him

"It was a way of talking. I want to take you out somewhere tonight." He said as he gazed warmly at her gleaming eyes

"Really?" she said surprised and blushing

She could not help but blush because Shen Zi was seducing her and she fell for his tricks. 

"Actually, I'm so tired because you are taking me out to so many places." She said wishing she could be sleeping

"Yes, the place is Diamond Palace Platinum. It is my company and since we are newlyweds it is proper for me to show you the area." He said again proud of him and seeking a gaze from Zoe

"Taking me out at night and getting me relaxed, what did I to merit all of this?" Zoe asked looking away

"Since your illness mysteriously happened and made you very weak, I decided to take responsibility for you. You don't have to reproach me anything." Shen Zi said thinking about the horrible memory of her illness.

"I don't have anything to blame you and you know what?"  She said talking sincerely to Shen Zi

"I will compensate you for all that you did." She said proudly

"I don't want you to do anything for me. Just be fine!" he said feeling a little bit angry

"Don't worry!" she said as she hugged him tight

"What is happening to me? My heart is aching!" he thought

"This is our battle and we will fight to get up for what we really wish for," Zoe said proudly raising her hand in the sky
