Chapter 4

The sound of the bell, it had become my favourite tune to here in school in the academy. I was finally free to go home. My hatred for school has remained unmatched, I couldn’t wait to leave thi8s hell hole. Leaving my class I quickly sent a text to my mum letting her know I won’t be waiting for her to pick me up as I made my way to the school gate to meet up with my friends.

Another down side to the academy was the fact that no student was allowed to bring any means of transportation to school, students are to either walk to school or follow their parents to school. They claim to want to remove discrimination and strengthen unity, so basically, the council believes that vehicles and material things have a way of creating a wedge between students, so no class or hierarchy on school grounds. 

‘Yo Vic I’m over here’ Kyle called my attention to his brooding form standing by the gate, I quickly made my way to him squeeze my way through  many bodies before I got to him. ‘Hi Kyle, how did you get here so early?’ I was wondering considering the fact that I left class immediately when the bell rang, unless he’s class finished early. ‘Oh, Miss Briggs called in sick so we had last period free’ Miss Briggs took combat classes and she almost never took days off ‘you are so lucky, I had OLD MAN mason today, and he got lost in the past all over again’ I was concerned about his health ‘I really think he needs to be checked, he see3ms pretty out of touch these days’ I said to Kyle ‘Mason has always had a screw loose in his head, he won’t be Mason without it’ he said with a laugh. Come to think of it ive never seen him normal before. ‘ sorry for the wait , I hope I didn’t keep you too late, wait wheres Glow?’ Bruce asked from behind me, he had his arms around my waist and his head was resting on my shoulders, ‘well you weren’t keeping us or at least you were not theonly onr, Gloria hasn’t come out of class’ I said right aftergiving him a peckbon the cheek. ‘well that’s weird, im preetysure her class finished earl, I saw her pass my class a few minitues after the bell rang, I thought shell behere by now’ you could tell that Bruce was worried just by looking at the lines that marr his forehead. I was also worrfied, its so unlike  her to ditch us without telling ‘maybe I should call her’ I already started brining  out my phone to call when Kyle pointed in he direction riht behind me ‘thers no need for that, shes already on her way hwere, take a look’ looking back I caught sight of her best friend running towards us, her blonde curls brushing her face ‘so so, a rry guys, I got caught up in class’ we all gave each other weird stares ‘ whats up, what aren’t you telling me’ there was a weird edge to her voice ‘well Bruce said hesaw you leave your class early’ I said lightly Gloeia’s face turned  a light shade of red ‘you saw that?’ she asked using her hands to cover her flushed face ‘yeah, I did’ B ruce slid his hands off me so he could get a hold of her hands to better see her face. ‘ whatsv wrog? V’ ‘nothing, nothung is wrong, I juststopped by to greer eachiuj all. ‘Well you did more than greet, considering the state you are in’ Kyle said, Gloria only turned a deeper shade ofb red. Nowv  that he mentioned it, Glow did look a sight, from her wild hair to her to her smudged lipstick, she really was a mess ‘okay so fine, Xander snd I were making out in the break room, I kinda lost track of time, sorry guys’ she apologided while trying to put her self back together, ‘how do I look?’ she asked after reapplying her makeup and running her hands through her hair. ‘you look fine’ kyle replied ‘now can we leave already’ is it just me or is Kyle upset, ever since Gloria got here he seems to be on edge, maybe he just really wants to get home. We all started on our way home, it’s funny how we don’t live too far from one another, Bruce’s house comes first and I don’t want to leave him, I wish I couod stay over but I had already promised mom I was going home to make dinne3r. the next house was Gloria’s, ‘well this is my stop’ I’ll see you later this evening Toria and I’ll see you tomorrow Kyle’ she gave him a small smile ‘not tomorrow, I have training tomorrow so you won’t see me’ Kyle kept on being so broody. ‘okay then, I’ll see you later then, bye guys’ she said one last time before going into her house. I started the silent trip home with Kyle by my side, my place was next ‘hey Kyle, what’s got you in such a terrible mood, I mean you were good some minutes ago so what’s wrong?’ I was just curious, ‘nothing’s wrong Vic, I just wanted to be quiet’  yeah that wasn’t it, I know Kyle’s quiet and it certainly wasn’t this, he looked more troubled than quiet and I was officially worried. I made a mental note to make mention of it with Bruce, maybe he’ll know why. ‘ohh okay’ I mumbled under my breath, ‘I’ll come see you tomorrow after school so make something sweet okay?’ I tried to lighten his mood. I could already see my house clearly ‘take care of yourself Vic, and when you are ready to tell me what happened I’ll be here to listen’ was his goodbye before he jogged over to his house. Wait what? Did he just say that I heard him say? Oh no oh no no, this is definitely not happening. There’s no way Kyle will know there’s something wrong with me, we barely even spoke to each other today. With shaky hands I opened the door and rushed in, not caring if Kyle was looking at me or not.

If Kyle knew the truth or even suspected that I had something too hide then I was in deep shit. I had to get him off my trail and I had to do it now. This night I had to look for a believable excuse to give him when next we see because knowing Kyle, he wont drop the issue till he get his answer. Tonight I had a lot to do but right now, I needed to get started on breakfast.
