Chapter - 6

Sam's POV;

After getting some chocolate drinks at the cafeteria, Clara, Luna, and I headed off to our classroom. Clara suddenly asked me, "What happened? Did you stay up all night crying?" I didn't respond, but she continued, "Stop overthinking and tell him how you feel! He may have a girlfriend but so what!"

I couldn't believe what she was saying; it sounded like she was just a kid. She went on to tell me about the game- Science vs. Architect Faculty- that was going to take place at school today. "So what?" I asked her back. She said to talk with him and that I wasn't allowed to refuse.

Once classes were over, Clara dragged me over to the Basketball court where there were a bunch of people gathered around cheering for their respective teams. Everyone had something in hand to cheer them on- the College Newspaper head was even present! Some students were hawking drinks while I noticed Blair seated in the front row.

"Clara! I'm going to the restroom." She gave me a look and said that I shouldn't try running away before I left.

When I returned from the restroom, Benjamin approached me with a bouquet of roses in his hands and said he had bought them for me yesterday but didn't get the chance to give it to me until now.

Confused by his words and actions, all I could say was,"Wait! What!?" He smiled and handed me the flowers while saying this was an expression of his support for my search for love- even though I'm lesbian. Stunned at his confession, all I could blurt out was,"What are you talking about? And what do you mean by this support thing?"

"Did you keep it a secret?"

I sighed and asked, "Ben, tell me who said that I'm a lesbian?"

He replied, "Ace said it in the boys' changing room. Everyone heard it."

I bet that's why no one has approached me so far.

I was so angry and confused, "What does Ace want from me? Why does he humiliate me this much?"

Ben was persistent, "Sam, is it true or not?"

"I'll explain later. Anyway, thank you for the flowers. It's beautiful but can you keep them for me? I'll get it later from you."

I rushed to the basketball court to find Ace. He wasn't playing or at the stands, so I headed to the changing room and found him there alone putting on a jersey.

I yelled at him, "Why are you doing this to me?!"

He removed his shirt and stepped closer to me with a smirk on his face asking, "How do I know? Need my help to find out?"

As he tried to touch my cheek, I pushed him away. Suddenly some girls walking by saw us and asked if everything was alright.

Ace replied jokingly, "Yeah! We're just talking about her sexuality! Hey girls! My friend here is a lesbian and single! Anyone interested in her?"

That made me even more mad so I tried to run out of the changing room before they could say anything else. They stopped me and asked if what he said was true.

Without hesitating for one second I shouted back,"Yes!! What of it? Are you single? Do you wanna date me?!" And then strode off towards Clara who had been waiting for me at the audience seat beside her.

Clara questioned my delay but I simply answered with a wave of hand,"Nothing".

Meanwhile The game had already begun with players coming in and waving at people while coaches kept their serious faces as they cheered their respective teams on. The timer started and the players began their game. It was a close match, with both teams scoring evenly. Then, everyone's attention shifted and their phones began to chime with notifications.

"Sam! Look at this!" Clara said, showing me a video of me shouting that I'm a lesbian.

"Sh*t!" I exclaimed, confused.

"Why did you say that?" she asked.

Everyone stared at me as if I'd said something wrong, so I quickly got up and headed towards the exit. As I passed by people, all I heard was,

'There she is! She's the girl in the clip.'

'I know she's gay because she always hangs out with girls.'

'Yeah, I've never seen her with a boy.'

'Explains why she wears boys' clothes!'

Panicking that everyone had seen this video on our University Board Page, tears welled up in my eyes as I walked faster to get away from it all.

Someone shouted my name and when I turned around, Senior Calix grabbed my hand and pulled me into an embrace. He kissed me before lifting his head while still holding me tight and shouted out to everyone, "HOW CAN SHE BE GAY IF SHE'S MY GIRLFRIEND!!"
