82. Failed Plan

"How is today, Dad?" Maria asked as soon as she entered her father's room. In his hand was a fruit parcel, she placed it on the table and sat down next to his father.

Petra smiled and looked at Maria. "Father is healthier than yesterday, thanks Maria," he said.

"There is no thank you between us, Father. We have to help each other," said Maria interspersed with laughter. "You want an orange? I'll peel it for you."

Petra just nodded, he watched his stepdaughter peeling the orange peel. Maria was very painstaking, she even washed it before handing it over to her father.

"Help me sit down Maria," said Petra.

Maria immediately raised the side of the hospital bed. She helped his father to sit leaning there.
