Dray

Dray

I am not sure how she did it, but our little mate was able to avoid us this last week.  She was even able to change the one and only class we had with her.  So neither of us was able to see her.  Silas does have two classes with her, and Killian also has a couple of classes with her, so we heard how she was doing from them.  We learned through Silas that her name is Tylia, but she goes by Ty.  I know she is around because I catch her scent often.  I am pretty sure I have seen her hair as well, but by the time I get to where I saw her, she is gone.  This whole week has been both aggravating and confusing.  I am not sure why she is avoiding us.  Killian says that she looks like she hasn’t slept in a few days, and he is not sure if she is eating.  I know that this has been hard on both Drake and me, so I can only imagine how hard it has been on her since she is the one that is fighting our bond,

“Are you boys ok?”  Mom asked.

I can see the concern in her eyes across the dinner table.  Valanya is over for dinner tonight.  She was supposed to bring her new roommate but is not feeling well.  Like the last time Valanya was here, I swear I get a whiff of Ty’s scent every so often, but I am not sure how this could be.  I look at Drake, and we make a decision to tell our family about finding our mate.  We mentioned that we had found her last week, but I don't think they took us seriously since we haven't brought her home to meet them.

“We found out mate this last week,”  I say.

“That’s great, but why has she not been over here to meet us?”  Mom asked.

“Well, she has been avoiding us since Monday.”  Drake answers.

"We are not sure why she is fighting our bond.  She has done everything to avoid us and keep herself hidden from us."  I add.

We explained what happened on Monday to them, and I could see the confusion on mom’s face.  Dad looks just as perplexed as we are.  He says that she has to have a reason for fighting the mate bond as she is, but he is unsure why that would be.

“So when are you going to bring this mysterious roommate over for us to meet?”  Dad asked.

“She was going to come tonight but she isn’t feeling well.  At least that is what she said.  I am starting to think she is trying to avoid coming here but I have no idea why.”  Valanya explains.

I am about to say something when dad’s phone starts ringing.  He picks it up and walks out of the room.  I can hear him yelling, and I can hell he is pissed.  It must have something to do with one of the restaurants or hotels.  He walks back in.

“What happened?”  Drake asked.

“Valanya’s apartment building was just broken into as was her apartment.  It was a bunch of human thugs.  No one is sure why or what they are looking for.”  Dad explains.

“Oh my god.” Valanya cries.

“What is it dear?”  Mom asked.

“My roommate is home alone.  I bet Ty is scared out of her mind.”  Valanya states.

My head and Drake whip up so fast it almost hurts.  She just said Ty is her roommate.  That is why I catch her scent on Valanya at times.  Valanya says she needs to go there and check on her.  We tell them that we will go, and dad agrees.  The two of us stand up and head towards the door.

“I can’t believe that our little mate is our sister’s roommate,”  I say.

“It makes sense as to why I would swear that I could smell her on Valanya sometimes,”  Drake states.

It does make sense to me as well.  Drake calls Silas, Killian, and Dazriel to meet us at the building.  Dazriel is the daughter of our late head warrior, and she is a beast.  We have been talking to dad about making her our second gamma.  No one messes with Dazriel.  They are already there when we pull up to the building.  We told them about finding our mate that day and what was going on.  Dazriel actually made friends with her.  From what she can tell, Ty doesn’t trust easily.  The officers let us through when we arrive.  Considering we are the future alphas, they let us through with ease.  We all climb into the elevator, and I push the button for the top floor.  Again they let us through when we arrive at Valanya’s apartment.  We tell them that we need to get something for our sister, and they leave.  Drake shuts the door, and we start searching for her.

“This is her room,”  Dazriel says.

I open the door, and her scent damn near knocks me on my ass.  She is not here; well, she is not visible.  I can tell by how strong her scent is that she is in this room somewhere.  I can smell her fear.  I look over at Drake, and I know he can smell it as well.  Those assholes had better not touch one hair on her head, or they will be dead.

-She is hiding-Drake

-Where?  There is nowhere to hide-Me

Drake points to the large armoire in the corner of the room.  There is no possible way she is hiding behind that.  I remember moving that thing in here for my sister, and it weighed a shit ton, and I am a dragon.  It took Drake, Killian, and me to move that damn thing.  Then I remembered that there was a hollow section in the middle.  Ty is small enough to get in there; no one would ever know.  I walk towards it, and her scent becomes stronger.  She is definitely hiding in there.  The apartment is relatively untouched.  There are a few things broken and gone through, but all in all, the apartment is fine.  It looks like they were looking for someone, not something.  Drake links the others, letting them know where she is.  Silas and Killian step up to move it out.  Dazriel has to help since the damn thing is so fucking heavy.  As they move it out, I reach in and grab her arms.

“No, let me the fuck go,”  Ty yells.

She starts squirming, and then she starts throwing punches; damn, can she hit.  She got out of my grip and bolted for the door, but Silas stepped in front of her only to be brought down by what looked like a kick that an MMA fighter would use.  She is just about out of the room when Drake grabs her and pulls her to his chest.  This stops her dead in her tracks.  Well, she still tries to wiggle her way out of his grip, but he just tightens his hold.

“Little gem it is us.  We are here for you.”  Drake calmly says.

“Are you ok little jewel?”  I asked.

She mumbles something, but I can’t understand it since her face is buried in Drake’s chest.  She has at least calmed down and has stopped fighting us.  Dazriel explains what we are doing here, and she looks at me and then up at Drake.  I can tell she is terrified.  I walk over to her and run my finger along her cheek.  I feel the sparks shoot up my arm.  She leans into my touch.  She has dark circles under her gorgeous eyes.  Fighting our bond is taking a toll on her just like it is on us.  She steps away from us and starts packing a couple of suitcases as I grab her backpack.  Drake picks up the suitcases, and we start walking out of the room.

“What if they are waiting for me outside?”  She asks.

“Our warriors have them in custody and they are already in our cells.”  Drake answers.

Ty stumbles a little, and I pick her up, carrying her bridal style.  She lets out a gasp but doesn’t fight me.  She is asleep in my arms when we get to the car.  I drop a kiss on the top of her head as I breathe in her scent.  It helps calm me down.  Drake puts her bags in the trunk, and I hand her to him so that I can get in.  I smirk when I see him do the same thing I just did.  We were both pissed and on edge.  We weren't sure what we would find when we got there or how we would find her.  I drive us back to the house.  I get out, and Drake hands her back to me as Drake grabs her stuff from the trunk.  Mom opens the door, and we walk through to find Valanya standing there along with dad.

“Where was she?”  Valanya asked.

“She had wedged herself in that hallowed space in the armoire,”  I explained.

The two of us walk upstairs to our room.  Drake opens the door to our room as I walk ahead of him, placing Ty on our bed and covering her over.  I smile when I see her snuggle down into our bed, burning her face in my pillow.  We head back down, knowing that our parents and sister are going to want answers.  I knew our parents were giving us strange looks as I did this, but I didn’t care.  We had gone back down, and we were sitting in the living room.  I knew by the look on our parent’s faces that they knew Ty.  They did ask if she was our mate, and Drake told them yes, she was our mate.  This made dad smile.

“You know something about her don’t you?”  I asked.

“We will talk about this tomorrow.  She needs to hear this as well.”  He replied.

Drake and I climbed the stairs to our room.  I was relieved to see Ty still sleeping peacefully in the middle of our bed.  We stripped ourselves down to our boxers and slid in beside her.  Drake was on her left, and I was on her right.  I am sure she will freak out when she wakes up, but I don’t care.  I need to know she is safe.  I smile when she curls up into my chest as Drake drapes himself along her back with an arm across her waist.   She lets out a contented-sounding sigh, and I see a smile spread across Drake’s face.  I lay there thinking about what dad has to tell us tomorrow. I have a feeling that it is going to be a very interesting talk.

Aww, I love how they care for her already. Poor child orphaned and hunted. Hope she find safety with her mates and their family.
