“And then?” Josh whispered.

“Nothing!” I sputtered. “Nothing happened.”

“What do you mean nothing happened?” Jenny sounded dumbfounded.

I covered my mouth when I yawned before answering.

After showing up at the bar again, walking me home, and basically camping on the porch, Christopher had disappeared sometime in the morning.

I’d spent most of the night staring at the ceiling, waiting for some sound from outside.

And had it happened? No!

Now I found myself feeling hopelessly tired and annoyed at myself for not calling the police.
