Chapter 28 – Agent Zero

I went inside a grim-looking wooden house.

The smell of something burning welcomed me upon entering. I looked around. The house was empty aside from the painting lying on the floor. I walked towards the painting and stopped when I could see it clearly.

The Woman’s Tear. It was the painting’s title. It portrayed the face of a woman whose eyes were close but whose thin lips were curved in a knowing smile. Its left eye glistened with unshed tears. Beneath the woman’s face was the crude shape of a diamond. The letter XW was written in the right bottom corner of the painting like a signature. But if you understand it like I do, it was really the Roman number XIII written in a cursive manner.

Then I heard a gunshot and the scream of a woman. I turned around and saw Ninong Raphael. He was pointing a gun at me.
