Leslie
I was returning home from the office. I was happy heading home early since today was one of those days I refrained from Azrael’s place and prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I suggested to him a few times to buy an AI with culinary skills, but Azrael remains the traditional person he is. I suggested a housekeeper, but most of them were elderly people and he would be stuck doing the keeping than kept.
I praised the excuses he gave because he enjoyed teasing me, after all, we are now on good terms. Also, he is unaware I am his fated pair, and I’d like to keep it that way.
The chances of finding a fated pair were less than a percent and for the few who did, it was difficult for them to be together due to age or marital status, but when they did; it was a love that lasted till death, and their children were usually born of far more excellent genes.
I was about to open the door of our house when it opened and a stranger, tall and clothed in black, opened the door. He stared at me, then smirked before he raised his cap and stared at Ben.
“You have a lovely home, Bennett, and a beautiful husband.” The man said before he walked past me as I stared at him before staring at Ben.
“What was that about?” I asked as I stepped in before I locked the door behind me.
“It’s nothing. You’re home early.” Ben said as he kissed my cheek.
“I can say the same about you.” I replied.
“My boss said I could take the rest of the day off. I made dinner.” Ben said as I smiled. “I hoped to surprise you, but you don’t seem surprised.”
“Not exactly, but you just raised your popularity meter by ten extra points.” I said as I walked into the house.
The living room stunk of cigarettes and that man’s perfume, but it didn’t bother me. What caught my attention was the brown folder that was crumbled roughly at the side.
I walked to pick up the folder and was about to open it when Ben snatched the folder from my hands and I stared at him, kicking the cans before I trailed him.
“Ben, what are you hiding from me?” I asked and Ben stopped before he slammed the folder on the table.
“Just drop it Leslie!”
“No! Not until you tell me what that folder is or who that man is or both. You’ve been acting strange since that man left.” I stated as Ben clicked his tongue.
“If you don’t tell me anything, Ben, I’ll imagine things Ben. Are you involved in anything illegal?”
“Enough!” Ben shouted as he raised his hand, intending to hit me.
I frowned at him as he sighed before he lowered his hand and I folded my arms. Ben’s eyes softened as he rubbed between his brows.
“Can we, can we just let this go and have dinner?” Ben asked as his eyes pleaded with me.
“Goodnight Ben. You can have the couch.” I said as I picked up my food and headed to the bedroom while Ben trailed behind me.
“Les-Leslie. Honey, please hear me-” I slammed the bedroom door behind me.
“Leslie please.” Ben said as he knocked on the door before I dropped my dinner and fell on the bed.
It took a little while for Ben to leave before I sighed and stared at the door.
“Ben, you idiot.” I whispered as I touched my cheek where Ben would have struck if he didn’t restrain himself.
“Is this supposed to be a manuscript or a grammatical error textbook for an English class?! If your author can’t do an efficient job, they should ask for help instead of increasing my workload and company production! We’re working adults here with families and personal affairs!” I shouted as I threw the edited piece at Ash.
“Also Jade!” Jade raised her head to me. “I’m sick and tired of cleaning after your mess… You’re expected to be neat and an example to a new employee like me, but you’ve been slacking off with Sven!” I scolded.
“Hey!” Jade exclaimed.
“You too, Jace!” He froze when I pointed at him. “We’re a book publishing company, improve your vocabulary with decent books, not vulgar, and perfected picture flipbooks that have nothing to do with your job most of the time!”
“Leslie.” I heard my name.
“What!” I shouted as I faced Reina, who had an amused look on her face before she placed her hand on her hip.
“You and I should take a break.” Reina insisted.
“I don’t want to.”
“I didn’t ask Leslie. I gave orders.” Reina’s eyes stared at me fiercely and, staring at her commanding eyes, took away my will to disobey her because I respected her wholeheartedly.
I followed Reina with a frown on my face before we went down to the editors’ lounge where she handed me a can drink from the vending machine, then we sat down.
“Trouble in paradise?” Reina asked as she opened the can of soda.
“Is it that obvious?” I asked and she laughed.
“Everyone knows. It’s rare for you to be upset and it’s also rarer for you not to start the day without talking about your partner. You usually call your partner whenever you arrive in the office and when you didn’t everyone knew something was up.” Reina said as I opened the can.
“I know, I know. I’m sorry.”
“No offense taken. It’s hard being the married one of a small team and, worst the only omega in the company.” Reina said as I stared at her in disbelief.
“Only omega? Come to think of it, I haven’t met anyone like me.” I said as I quietly sipped the drink.
“Yeah. Even though technology, people, and culture have changed, it’s rare to find omegas who enjoy jobs that have to keep them away from their families, especially with heat cycles. Most omegas enjoy jobs that require creativity or helping people directly, but yours doesn’t exactly do that.” Reina said as I sighed.
Reina pulled out a cigarette and offered it to me.
“I don’t smoke.” She shrugged before she lit it on.
“Wanna talk about it? I have all the time in the world, plus Azrael isn’t exactly someone to get healthy relationship advice from or talk about with.” Reina said before she laughed like she had told a hilarious joke.
We were silent as I drank the can halfway before I dropped it beside me.
“My husband, Ben… He’s keeping secrets from me.” Reina stared at me.
“Do you think he’s cheating on…”
“No! Ben isn’t like that and if he did, I’m sure he’d tell me. I will be mad if it happened once, but I’ll forgive him.”
“You’re too pure.” Reina said as she leaned back. “So, what secret?”
I narrated the ordeal of last night, and this morning to her as she focused on my words. I was happy that she didn’t judge, no nasty comment nor snarky talk, just concern and a smile.
“To be honest, I’m a little envious of you.” Reina said as she put the lit out. “Your husband seems like the kind of man who communicates with you and that’s something hard to find in generation delta. You’ve been married for…”
“Five years.” I replied.
“Isn’t that enough reason to trust him? We all have secrets Lez even couples deeply in love won’t give a hundred percent honesty to their partner not because they don’t love or trust them because deep inside us, we’re human and we don’t want to be vulnerable and lose our comfort zone in the eyes of someone important to us. Don’t let your desire and anxiety rule your relationship, it never lasts, not worth it.” Reina said as she stood up.
“You can take the day off Leslie, fix your temper and house before you bite my workspace again.” Reina said as I flushed in embarrassment at my earlier actions before she chuckled and left.
I said nothing as I watched her leave before I raised my head.
Reina is right, I shouldn’t be a hypocrite when I haven’t told Ben yet about Azrael.
The door opened, and I looked up from where I knelt with an apology cake in my hand. It was a little embarrassing doing this, but the AI simulation suggested that this was the most creative way to make up with my husband.
“Leslie, what are you?” Ben closed the door with a stunned look.
“I-I’m sorry about overreacting yesterday.” I apologized as I took a few steps and handed him the cake.
Ben accepted it and smiled, but he was stunned when I kissed his lips before I wrapped my arms around his neck. “Don’t drop the cake.” I whispered.
“I won’t.” Ben’s voice deepened before I kissed him again.
I deepened the kiss as our tongues wrapped around each other as we both moaned.
My knees trembled as I felt slick producing at my hole and pre-cum staining Ben’s pants. I pulled away with a very thin long line of mouth juices connecting our tongues before it broke and disappeared.
I panted with my whole body flushed and Ben’s face painted with the same sinful desire on his face. I was going for his belt when he grabbed my arm with one hand.
“Wait. I want to do this, but not before I tell you why I was acting strange, Leslie.” Ben said as he dragged me inside before he placed the cake on the table.
He ran back towards the door and brought his briefcase before he pulled out a folder and handed it to me.
“I wanted it to be a surprise, but I know you’re not so fond of surprises.” Ben said as I stared at the folder.
“Are you sure I should open it?” I asked, and Ben nodded before I opened it.
It wasn’t much. There were a few bank statements and a contract that had stamps from both Ben and his previous employer. I looked through before I realized what it was and smiled.
“I’ve paid the debts sweetie. I know you love your job, so I can’t tell you to quit, especially since you’re the editor of your favourite author and you have dreams, but I want you to take it easy and relax. Do your job because you love it.” Ben said as he smiled before I hugged him.
“Congratulations honey!” I shouted as I hugged him before he laughed and wrapped his hand around my waist.
I was still in a good mood before I felt Ben squeeze my ass, and I whimpered before I slapped my hand around my mouth.
“I didn’t think you’d be bold to wear my shirt over your nudity.” Ben said as he nibbled on my ears, making me moan softly.
He pulled on the string of the apron as he kissed my neck before he pulled off the apron and saw I was wearing on his shirt. It took little for Ben to lift me princess style.
“What about dinner?” I asked as he headed to the bedroom.
“Food can wait, but dinner is served.” Ben replied as I squealed on the way to the room.
“I’m sorry for how I acted yesterday. It was rude and inappropriate.” I apologized with my head lowered to my team members.“It’s alright. Once in a while, we need you to put us in our place.” Sven said as my brows softened.“I was damn tired of you being too nice or the management and authors would eat you alive.” Jade said as everyone laughed.Reina placed her hand on my shoulder and I stood upright before she smiled at me and raised a chart in her hand.“It’s great to have you back Leslie.” Reina said before I smiled brightly.“Likewise.”The mood in the office was far lighter than the normal that I was familiar with, but I was glad. There was no hard feeling or resentment against me, especially since my team was used to getting complaints from the other staff.“I’m heading out.” I said after I helped Ash process a request for his author since I only had one author t
I held two tickets to an event to an amusement event and sighed when I remembered the words of Uncle Bob.“Leslie!” Bob shouted from the door of our office loudly.“Am I in trouble?” I whispered to Jace, who looked at Bob and shrugged.“He seems excited.” Jace whispered before I heard my name over a megaphone this time.“Leslie Campbell!” Uncle Bob shouted as I stood up. “Outside! Now!” He screamed as everyone covered their ears before his secretary snatched the megaphone and glared at Bob.“Sir, I would appreciate it if you acted appropriately.” Sawyer, his calm and cold secretary, said as Bob smiled and tapped his shoulders.“Sorry love. Leslie now.” Uncle Bob said as I followed suit immediately with Sawyer maintaining a distance that gave us enough privacy.“Is there anything I can do for you, sir?” Before Uncle Bob placed his hand inside his suit, I asked, and he ha
AzraelI was mad, and I was mad for a good reason.“Hoy kid.” I said, as Leslie smiled awkwardly.“I just remembered that I have this thing to do for Reina at the office. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Leslie said, while avoiding my gaze before he left.Strange.“Omega, I need…” He replied by shutting the door with a text message a few minutes later.Another excuse. This went on many times. When we meet, he had something to do; if we had to be around each other, he avoided my gaze and maintained space with his eyes stealing gazes occasionally when he assumes, I’m unaware.I grabbed the cup and chugged the drink before placing it on the table and pouring myself another one.“It’s one of those days.” Mike said as he exhaled smoke. “What crawled out of your pants?”“What’s that supposed to mean? Mitsuki isn’t someone to be in a
LeslieI focused on editing an author under my team’s management work when I heard a loud ruckus. I was startled at the noise and peeked to understand what was happening.“I have great news, everyone. To celebrate our new employee and making another successful book by author R. K Rowling under our editor Jade Lee; the management has rewarded us with a team picnic with all the authors we handle.” Reina said like she had just won the lottery and it shocked me how everyone banged their table in excitement.“Hey Sven, what’s so special about a picnic?” I whispered, as Sven moved closer.“Any picnic hosted by the company always has prize money. Depending on the game, the prize varies. Team B won one grand for category editor-author leg race. Reina won a new car from an eating contest.” He replied as I stared at him in shock.“Is the management really okay?” I asked, and he nodded.“You
They said it was going to be our team, authors and one invite; an approximate of thirty people, but here we were in a perfect and large private outdoor space with a few board members and their dates. The editors I've assisted introduced me to the other authors. They were super friendly, shocked that an omega like me was the one who improved their work, but friendly in summary as we exchanged names and business cards.I haven’t spoken to Ben since he left and I was going to block him if he tried to call to make any excuse other than where and how he’d get to me. Azrael also wasn’t here, but everybody expected the same from him.“Are you enjoying yourself our little Leslie?” Uncle Bob asked as I stared at the jovial mood at the party. It was colourful and everyone you could never imagine in anything casual was very casual.“Yes, I am. Thank you for honouring our team with this reward.”“Thank you for making us number one. I was hoping you’d be here with your partner. I wanted to see the
I introduced Ben to the rest of the team and they were loving him, but the bonding had to be placed on hold because the event was about to start. The first game was a sack race and though the reward was a plushie, it was fun to see everyone give their all, including uncle Bob. Pictures were taken, winners declared, and the cheers only got louder when it was a dramatic athlete.“The three-legged category will soon begin.” The announcer said as Ben locked our fingers.“We should see if we can sign up for that.” Ben suggested before Azrael appeared.“Sorry to ruin your honeymoon with your husband, but I need the shrimp to take part; we are a team.” Azrael informed Ben from behind us as he wrapped his arm around his neck.Ben clearly didn’t like it, but the moment I held his hand, he smiled before he patted my hair“I’ll be cheering from the side-lines. Remember, don’t overwork yoursel
The company was unusually busy from the moment I dropped in the afternoon after concluding with the final drafting with Azrael. The mood was awkward, but I was glad he kept a very professional mood even though he wouldn’t stop staring at me and the marks on my neck I tried hard to hide when I resumed work.“Ah Campbell, is your work ready?” Reina asked, and I nodded. The meeting held last week was to surprise the public with a mass publication from our top authors. Many people were worried about a backlash with people selectively buying just from two or three of our authors, but analysis and data would favour where and countries the author has a large fanbase.I supported the motion because I was more confident about the ending series Azrael and I put so much effort into making. I was excited because I wanted everyone to see that there were now emotions to his writings like in the past and a new expression we would e
AzraelBadum, badum; thump, thump; thump.I can’t forget the sound of our heartbeat and every time he is near; it gets louder. Almost like me whenever I’m near the only person I love. These conflicts I didn’t need it and I certainly didn’t need to see that omega the same way I saw a woman.I shouldn’t think deeply, but there’s been one question that has been bothering me since the first time we had a situation similar to that time. Why do I have an uncontrollable urge to possess him? The urge to be his alpha?I was afraid that I was slowly depending on Leslie, especially since he had integrated into being a part of my life like a fucking habit. He was an airhead, clueless and naïve like me, when I had taken my first determined leap to society.Leslie may be honest, but he was also mysterious, avoiding topics about his childhood and the few times he did, it was his
