CHAPTER 3

I thanked her one more time and paced out of her room. I took the stairs to reach my students.

I was almost on the last step of the stairs, " Don't beat her. Don't, please uncle. " I heard loud voices from my students. They were shouting. It scared me. Was someone beating them? I ran toward them following there's voices. There was no one around them when I reached them. It relaxed me a bit.

" Is this your new trick to tease me? " I frowned.

" Miss, save her." Little Ammy ran at me and held my hand in her little hands. Her face was washed with tears. I was still holding some tissues. I cleaned her face with it.

" Hey! stop crying, Ammy. " I squatted down so I could face her. She was a ten years old cute girl. She never teased or mischief while studying. I followed her pointed finger.

It was a gigantic mirror window. The curtains were removed, showing the full view of the room.

A man in the black suit was straddling his legs over a woman's waist on the mattress. It startled me. My heart began to beat loudly in fear. His one hand was on her neck and with his second hand, he was slapping on the side of the bed brutally with his belt. Possibly to scare her. I couldn't comprehend exactly what was going on.

I grabbed Ammy and Rudra from the railing, " Stop crying. " I said.

I wiped tears from Rudra's little puffy cheeks. He was twelve years old, naughty kid.

" You are the big brother, right? " I asked him.

" Yes, Miss. " He said between his sobs.

" You need to take care of your younger sister. Stop crying and don't let your sister too. " I smiled, but my blood was boiling. How could a husband savagely threaten or beat his wife like this?

He wiped his eyes and walked toward his sister and swiped tears away from her cheeks. He held her hand. Both turned to smile at me.

" Now go and tell your mom what you saw. Ask her to call the police. " I said and stood up. Both ran toward the stairs.

" Barbaric... " I was annoyed. I picked up an iron' geometric box from the table in my hand. I threw it at the mirror. It must be eight feet away. It hit the mirror with a little thud but enough bang to attract his attention.

I waved my hand with a smile to tell them they have company.

The man instantly swivelled his head to see me. There was fury in his eyes. It scared me. I backed the steps. When I grabbed his attention. I came to know, He wasn't alone nor the husband of the lady.

'I don't know them. And he was definitely not her husband.'

It wasn't her husband. There was no compassion on his face. There was the only fury in his eyes. I stepped back again. He wasn't alone.

I shouldn't disturb them. Perhaps I should call the cops first, I thought.

A man in a dark blue formal suit stared at me. He was looking so calm as nothing wrong was happening around him. He directly glanced at me, I saw him smiling. I could see his sharp features, handsome like a magazine cover's model. Both hands were in his pocket. It seemed he came for a photo shoot. I stared back at him.

I saw some other silhouettes in the room. The curtains started to emerge together. Breaking his and my gaze. When the view was totally blocked. I quickly blinked and it took me two minutes to understand the situation. That the neighbour lady was in great trouble.

I spun and scooted down the stairs hurriedly.

" Lovey! " Anjali was shouting my name. I could feel her panic. She was looking so scared that she didn't come after me to see me. She rested her both hands on my forearms.

"Kids told me. I've called the police," she said with fear.

" It wasn't her husband. There are more than two people. We should lock our doors and windows. They've seen us staring at them, luckily only me." I said, catching my breath.

Her face blanched with the news. Meanwhile, I could listen to the police's Syrian.

I closed my eyes and heaved a deep breath, " Thank God. " I murmured.

" She'll be safe now. " Anjali said, putting her hand on her chest. I nodded immediately.

I was in doubt, the way he was beating her I wasn't sure, although I didn't see him beating her. They were indecent or some kind of monster.

We got a knock on the main door, " You called the police." I heard out from the main door.

Mrs Anjali glanced over the laptop, which was connected to Live CCTV. When she was sure. It was the police. She walked to the door.

" Wait. " I said and she halted.

" What is it? " She asked, turning to see me. Her face was blanched

" Those indecent people, they only saw me peeping in. They don't know about kids. So it would be better if we don't drag kids in this matter. " I suggested.

' I've younger brother the same age as Ammy. I would never put them in danger.'

" But we can't put you in danger." She replied in fidgeting

I glanced over at her shoulder at them, " They're looking scared. " I said and she looked at her kids. She nodded her head and opened the door.

" Yes, I called you. I saw some strangers in our neighbourhood. I mean, My kid's tutor watched them beating Mrs White. Can you please check on her? Is she safe? " Mrs Anjali said to the cops.

" It's our duty ma'am. " The officer said and walked toward the neighbourhood's door.

Mrs Seth and I were watching them standing from the threshold. They rang the bell and waited. They rang the bell again. When they didn't get a response they decided to break the door.

After a full twenty minutes, the Officer walked toward us, " We've detached some blood drops on the bedsheet. We found no one in the whole house. " The officer Continued.

I was feeling scared for the lady. My mind was roaming with his thoughts. The man who was in dark blue formal. Why would he do such a thing to a woman, although he wasn't the one? He was looking like a good respectable person who belonged to a decent high ranked family. Hadn't he sympathy? What kind of a person was he!

" You should go home, Love. I don't want you to leave late. It's not safe. " Mrs Anjali said.

       " Yes, you're right. " I said.

I glanced at my wrist. It was six o'clock in the evening. I sauntered over to the door. The kids waved at me. I waved back at them.

" Message me when you'll reach home. " She said worriedly.

" Okay, sure. " I nodded. I picked my handbag from the table and paced out of the door.
