Chapter 5
I looked around the town for a vampire with a car. I did not know how to tell who was a vampire, and who was not. I remember the lady wearing a worn down dress. Assuming that all humans wear that, all I needed to do was find someone in nice clothes. I looked at all the apartments as I walked. They were 2-4 stories high. Some were run down, while others looked nice. As I got to the end of what seemed to be the main street, I saw it. He was standing next to his car. His skin shined like a tourmaline gem. A lime green, shiny, but not sparkly. The light seemed to hit his skin like stained glass. I found one! I was not sure if he was a noble or a dhampir, but I needed to get to the capital. I needed to find Anthony so he could explain to me why he did this. The things the lady told me popped in my head. Humans as food. Was this why my past was not worth it, because I was a human? It had only been a few hours since me and Helium had left blood village, and I was already bored. Helium was a really good driver. We passed a lot of trees, pretty ones that I could not help but to look at, yet Helium kept his eyes on the road. I wondered if it was because he had drove this road before, and was used to the sight of the gorgeous trees, or if he just did not care. It had been two days since we had stopped in Hustle Town. We only had 2 more days before we reached the capital. Helium and I haven't really talked since we left the town. I do not know if he could tell I wasn't in the mood for talking or what, but he kept quiet. We had made a couple of stops since Hustle Town, but I did not get out of the car to see what the places looked like. Helium only stopped to get something to eat each day. I was starting to realize when Helium drank 24 ounces of blood, he would stay full a whole day. I did the math in my head. 24 equaled a day, so double that would be 48 ounces for 2 days. If I go off this, and double that then to stay full 4 days, I would need to drink 96 ounces. To stay a full week.... I'd have to kill a human, 192 ounces. That was all the blood in an adult blood. The elevator moved at a seemingly slow rate. It seemed like it stopped at every floor. Humans and vampires were getting on and off what seemed to be every 2 or 4 floors. I don't know how long it normally takes to get to the 100th floor, but it took me about 30 minutes. I stood in the corner trying not to talk to anyone. There were a few people who seemed to know who I was though. They would turn around and say hi, or ask me how I have been. I kept my answer short. When they would ask where I had been, I would say I tried going to the ocean but got home sick and came back mid-trip. No one seemed to miss me, but a few were worried about why I hadn't been there. I even heard one of the vampires saying they thought the prince had drunk my blood and killed me. It seemed like it was normal not to talk about where people went if they were missing. As I turned the door knob, I thought to myself 'I probably should have knocked first...'. The door opened slowly as I heard;"Who is it!" The voice sounded frustrated. Like the world was on his shoulder. He wasn't really mad, but he defiantly sounded bothered. I was about to close the door back but he had already looked up at me. He was sitting at a desk. A window in the background made sunlight shin down on him. His skin was just like a stained glass amber gem like mine, but green. He was very handsome. His golden blonde hair, straight but fluffy. His eyes a dark green like center parcs. He looked more like 26, 27 now that I was up close. He wore a blue suit. The suit was nice. He had a green button down shirt under the jacket. He had a golden watch on his wrist. On his desk was a pill of papers, a computer, a lamp, and a net space in-between for him to do his work. He dropped his pen, and stood up quickly and quietly.

I was born in a town called Merchandising Town, population 4,298. It was a town like Hustle Town. There were a lot of shops, and people selling products to survive. My mom was one of the women who let vampires drink her blood for money. She would get around 40 dollars a night, but most of it went on paying off my dad's gambling debts. My dad was addicted to gambling, and a good for nothing. My mom fell for him at a food stand when he gave an older lady free fruit. He was, at one point and time, a good man. Mother always took care of him, which is why he quit his job at the fruit stand. He would only make around 10 dollars a day. Compared to her 40 dollars a night, he figured he didn't need to work. As time passed, he began spending late nights out with friends. Him and his friends would gamble on things like cards, or how good the harvest for both humans and food would be, or even on how many servants would be bough

I spent my next 2 years getting to know the prince's likes and dislikes, his rules that I must obey, and he didn't let me go alone on errands. I wasn't shy around him anymore either. He turned out to be nicer than he looked. He wouldn't say things with emotion in his voice, but his eyes said otherwise. I grew to be okay with my new situation as the days passed. When I woke up the next day, Maria showed me how I would spend my days. When I first woke up, I was to check on him, and see if he needed anything. Next, I would take a shower. He had soaps that he wanted me to use everyday twice a day. It smelt of lemons. He had a tub, and a shower you could sit in. I preferred a shower. It felt good to have the water hit me. As the elevator left the 106st floor, I wondered what the queen was like. I did not know much about how the world worked, but I did know that we lived in a monarchy.
