Kate POV
Getting in pretty late last night, I can’t help my curiosity surrounding the man named Drake. He was good looking, confident and there were some questions around what his dealings were with my father. I enjoyed a couple dreams about the mystery man, his hands on my body and us swaying to the music.
However, Saturday morning came to quickly. Dragging my butt when I did finally crawl out of bed, I make my training session for 9 am. I always spar and train with my Beta, Reid, and the Head Warrior / Head Trainer John. However, with John on vacation it would just be Reid and myself this morning.
Although I had been out late the night before, it did not take long to get into the swing of fighting
Drake’s POV I had made my way home on my motorbike and arrived home shortly after three in the morning. Blue Moon Pack was roughly an hour or so from Golden Moon Pack. Not too far but far enough to warrant doing business with them. I lived in the Pack house along with a lot of the single, unmated members. My room was on the third floor – as an Alpha I had a higher standing in the Pack; however, would never be assuming the role of the Alpha for the Blue Moon Pack. My room was spacious, with its own bathroom, sitting area, workspace, and separate bedroom. Grabbing a quick shower, my thoughts lingered on my meetings today and the end of my evening. Drying off, I walk naked to my bed, turning off the light as I go.I was exhausted yet meeting Kate had piqued my curiosity.&n
Kate POV As we wrapped up the day of training around 3 pm, I had to decide what I was going to do with my father. I did not want to keep dragging this up, but to consider moving Reid to Beta before me going to Alpha was wrong and unprecedented in most packs. As I pondered what to do, I grabbed my stuff up, starting to walk out the door of the training centre. I waved goodbye to some stragglers as I went out. The day was beautiful. I had almost missed it with the intensity of the training today. We had a couple groups do double training shifts on Saturdays as they had more time available for training at that time than they did through the work week. During the week many worked and could not dedicate as much
Kate POV I was exhausted. We had three rogue attacks in the past three weeks. We had minimal casualties thanks to our aggressive training regimen. However, we were also cautious. The number of rogues coming to break through our barriers were increasing. We had stopped them just as they crossed, a couple escaped our warriors by not crossing the border as they saw what was happening to the other rogue wolves. those we caught were destroyed. With the exception of one rogue per group – we kept them for interrogation. This had always been our strategy, to learn what we could from the captured rogue. It often included torture as they were quite committed to their missions. After three rogues were captured during various attacks, interrogated, and destroyed we were no further ahead in under
Kate POV “I beg your pardon?” asking my father in shock. We had talked about Drake, and he never indicated there was a discussion of an alliance. In fact, I assumed his connection was a minor annoyance. Never could I have anticipated this. “Reid, John – would you mind giving us some privacy? Kate and I have some things to discuss,” Alpha Jackson requested of both men. Standing and nodding both men looked at me before nodding to Alpha Jackson as they left the room. Standing I walked over to the window and looked out at the overcast skies. We did not typically get a lot of rain, but when we did it stayed for a few days. It made tracking a challenge as all the scents you would usuall
Drake POV I admit I had been surprised to hear from Alpha Jackson. It had been a few weeks with silence. I was starting to doubt my abilities to attract him to our alliance offer. I had a problem to fix – expanding the scope of our alliances and I was struggling to make traction with our priority Pack – Golden Moon. There were no rumours through the grapevine, so to speak, to give an indication why he would call now. He called a couple of days ago, and I was lying in bed pondering whether Kate would be attending the meeting. Feeling an arm snake across my chest, I look at Elise who is just waking in my bed. She is a blond-haired, blue-eyed beauty I had met a couple years before. We had recently started d
Kate POV “Rogues?” Drake asked. “Have you been able to determine if they are affiliated with any specific Pack?”. As Drake looked at both of us, I was perplexed, and my father was uncomfortable. How would anyone know what Pack exists in the rogue world? Nobody associated with them, that’s why they are considered rogues. Kate shook her head and started, “We have had three attacks over the past few weeks. Every time we have taken one captive, we have got nothing from them as to why they are here or what their end game is.”. Kate continues, “We have had some minor disturbances from no rogues as well – lost wolves from other Packs who have stumbled onto our borders. We have alliances with their Packs, so we returned them without hesitation. While this
Drake POV As I process the conversation around me, I am concerned that the Golden Moon Pack has suffered three attacks and they still have no idea what has motivated the attacks. There had been no warning at our end that Golden Moon was on the radar of rogues. This was an elite Pack used to protecting their own. Clearly, they had not needed support from their alliance to manage the attacks so far. But they did need to know why so they could shut down future attacks. I was not surprised with Kate’s suspicions around the timing of our alliance discussions. Yet it still bothered me she would make those assumptions. In her place, I would likely make them myself, but it bothered me on some level I could not yet identify. &
Kate POV As we finish with the fourth rogue attack, I scowl at the irony of another attack happening when Drake happens to be sitting in our conference room. I realize I may be over-reacting, but I could not help but believe it was a little suspicious all these “coincidences”. And what kind of Alpha would I be if I didn’t question the obvious. Drake had jumped into the fight. I am confident we would have won but his help was appreciated. The safety of everyone involved in the fight was more important than me making a big deal of him ignoring my directive to stay with Alpha Jackson. His wolf was a beautiful midnight black with slate-colored eyes. When the fight was over, I had noticed Shelby sniffing for
