Chapter 22
Drake POV
As I process the conversation around me, I am concerned that the Golden Moon Pack has suffered three attacks and they still have no idea what has motivated the attacks. There had been no warning at our end that Golden Moon was on the radar of rogues.
This was an elite Pack used to protecting their own. Clearly, they had not needed support from their alliance to manage the attacks so far. But they did need to know why so they could shut down future attacks.
I was not surprised with Kate’s suspicions around the timing of our alliance discussions. Yet it still bothered me she would make those assumptions. In her place, I would likely make them myself, but it bothered me on some level I could not yet identify.

His father had decided it was time for Rafe to take more responsibility and start attending business meetings with me. I agreed it was time, but we had argued as to whether he should attend this meeting. We had only signed our alliance with Golden Moon Pack a couple months prior. Kate POV As I walked toward our large conference meeting room, I could hear some of the Alphas had already arrived. Walking into the room, I looked around taking in who was in attendance so far and nodding as I made my way into the room. I stopped to speak with a couple Alphas making small talk. Rafe POV I had managed to get out from under my uncle’s thumb for a few minutes as a call came in which he had to take. I hurried back down the stairs hoping to catch Kate and her friend. I know I had screwed up, but I was used to getting second chances. I was not going to accept no – not until she had gotten to know me a bit better. And then I was confident she would be mine. Looking at her, being around her, and hearing her speak today has just reinforced with me the mistake I made that night. I will not make that mistake again. Kate POVWith my Alpha blood I was able heal the claw marks quickly. They were a little red but nothing that wouldn’t be 100% healed by tomorrow morning.
