Athena's POV
I was about to go into a deep slumber when I suddenly hear an ear-piercing, bloodcurdling scream from a distance. Along with its frightful screams in the dark, followed by the howling of the wolves from somewhere.
Shivering because of the eeriness of the night, I tried to reach for my pillow and wrap it all over my body so I might as well find some comfort. I turned my body to another side and was about to give Cloud an embrace when I had come to the realization that there was no one sleeping next to me.
Feeling dazed, I sat up and confirmed that he was, indeed, gone. Where the heck was he in the middle of the night? I wondered to myself. I pulled on a jacket and unzipped the tent. As I went out to search for Cloud, the cold and chilly breeze brushed through my skin that sends shivers down my spine.
I was strolling around when I accidentally slipped because I could not see through the darkness of the night. I almost
Athena's POVJust when I thought it was going to be the end of my once miserable life, a powerful voice echoed in my ears in the middle of the night. It was just a soft whisper, but enough to give me enough hope and strength. It was no other but Cloud.I watched as he carefully and steadily released the thick rope tightly wrapped around my body as I was groped into the branch of a tree. Then he gestured me to remain as silent and calm as I could until we could escape from the area of the incident. We were already running hand in hand, with no reason to look back, when the vivid image of Zidane, Lovi, and Chad's lifeless body, along with the missing heart on the facet of their chest, made my entire body shiver in fear and cowardness."Cloud, what the hell was going on?" As though I could no longer restrain the confusion that was starting to occupy my entire thoughts and consciousness, I asked as I muffled a sob.Clou
Athena's POV"ATHENA!! LOOK OUT!!" Megan suddenly screamed. Then suddenly, I just found the entire world spinning right before my very eyes. Then nothing.. But darkness.I tried to open my heavily drooping eyelids, as though I was forcefully knocked unconscious by some nauseous fragrance that has my world spinning around. After a few seconds, I finally recalled all the past occurrences before I had fallen asleep which instantly made me open my eyes and wander around.I was seated and tied up in a chair where you can see a fully painted ambiance in the room. White walls, white ceilings, and there was a window on the corner. It was filled with the chilliness coming from the air condition unit mounted to the wall, and there was a long table made with metal on each corner of the room with glass jars and lids on top of it. Judging from the overall appearance, it certainly looks like a laboratory that you
The Last Chapter "MOMMY!! Uncle Dimitri was so annoying!! I could not help but laugh whenever I hear my son complaining. "Sky! Don't go too far, alright?" Dimitri called out to my son. And my son Sky being so obedient, nodded and waved happily as he ran to play with his kite. "Hey, are you okay?" Dimitri asked me. I smiled and nodded. Eight years have passed.. Cloud, I'm not sure how I'm going to tell him about you. Sky expressed an interest in learning more about you as he grew older. I'm terrified and perplexed. Because the last time I told him about you, he was aware of how well things were going between us at the time. He knew there was no way we could be this far apart—because he knew you've been deeply in love with me since the day we met and that you'd waited so long just to be able to hold my hand respectfully in yours. He was well aware that I had fallen in love with your inconsequential effor
The evening wind, calmness, and tranquility wiped away all the chaos that had been filling my mind for the preceding few days. It felt as though I had been granted a second opportunity at life, a new beginning, akin to that of a newborn kid. I'd always wanted to feel that way for so long, and that night was a very captivating time for me to begin with. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, feeling the breeze brush against my skin as I relived all the horrific events that had occurred. My soul's peace was eventually lost in a couple of seconds. All the turmoil and pandemonium that seemed to escape for a time reappeared in an instant. Tears rush down my cheeks as I feel my body shudder as a dreadful understanding dawns on me. It feels as if every second of my existence has been squandered, and as if the sense of despair and worry has taken over the little strand of sanity that exists for me as it pours through my veins and fills my spirit to the core. "It can't be..
Athena's POV It was raining on a Saturday morning. I can hear raindrops falling on my bed's rooftop. I lazily yawned as I slid beneath my cover, eyes still closed. I reached out to feel my pillow, craving more sleep. I was so surprised when I got a grip of something that I yelled, flung my eyes open, and jumped off the bed. I was astonished to discover a man sleeping right next to me on my bed. I tried to recall what happened and the problem with the man invading my house, bedroom, and even lying on my bed! But no matter how hard I tried, I could not recognize him. Curious, I took a slow look at the man's face, which was partially concealed by the pillow he was embracing. MY PILLOW. I concentrated my attention on the other side of his face. Thick, black brows. A nice nose. Red, kissable lips. And deep, blue eyes. I was startled to find that the man who had been sleeping on my bed was suddenly wide awake. And before I knew it,
Unknown POV I stood there watching the couple walk out of the restaurant hand in hand. Just by looking at their faces, I can tell they're delighted. They continued to converse for a while longer before getting into their car and driving away. I started my engine and drove, a grim scowl written all over my face, anxious to catch up with them. We arrived at the apartment, and I can see from the car window how the couple gives each other sweet and lingering kisses. They both chuckled as the woman said something to the man. The woman gave the man a warm embrace, and the man hugged back. She then opened the car door and waved to the man as he drove away, before proceeding to the apartment door. She pushed the door open and groped for the light switch. Her apartment's first level was well-lit. She slammed the door shut behind her. I stayed there for an hour or so, not knowing how long I was there. I absolutely lost count of time simply by s
Athena's POV "You mentioned that I was the only person who never judged you. But you still let them judge and belittle me because you love them too much. Loving you was never easy, but I chose to love you in every way possible every day, regardless of the circumstances or obstacles. Nonetheless, you gave up far too soon and far too easily. You never gave me a chance to prove myself to them because I don't believe you trust me on this, which is excruciatingly painful. And the worst part is that I'm getting used to it because You. Let. Them. And, by the way, I still adore you. But, yes, I despise you." I read the text again, sighed deeply, scribbled a few final phrases, and eventually shut my laptop. I had been so focused on my clients recently that I almost had no time to finish writing my own book. Likewise, I had been a writer since I was a child. I was a loner who does not trust easily and has very few friends. My parents
Athena's POV The table setup was truly romantic. The roasted chicken is in the center, with both the vegetable salad and baked potatoes on the side. I reached into the minibar for a bottle of Crimson Chardonnay and strategically placed it on the table. This was my favorite wine for many years, and I hand-picked them when I went to France on a business trip paid for by the company I work for as an author. I am not a typical heavy drinker, but I believed I would need something to settle my nerves when the world is spinning out of control. I smiled as I inspected the table with satisfaction. Then I glanced at the wall clock and realized I still had 20 minutes till Cloud arrived up for our dinner. After a difficult and grueling day, I made the choice that there was still plenty of time to recharge and refresh. I began humming as I went upstairs to my bedroom and grabbed my towel, then entered the bathroom located in my bedroom. Because it was suc
