“A date?” Lisa stared at the man, he was drop-dead gorgeous. He looked around 21-23 years old college guy, and he was dressed in an expensive white dress shirt, probably part of a tuxedo. Judging by his Lamborghini, she could guess he was a rich brat who was used to getting his way.
Why would he date her unless he had an ulterior motive? But then if he could help her wiggle out of this mess, then why not?He nodded,” yeah, just a date.”
“How Chivalrous,” she said dryly.
“Why do you want to help me out, and take me on a date? You don't even know me.” She asked, folding her arms and sitting cross-legged on the dark road.
“I would feel better if I drop you home rather than let you walk alone in the dark. I am feeling generous today, so I am helping you and since it's your birthday I am taking you on a date.” He explained. He couldn't tell her the real reason, of course. His wolf was pushing him to protect her.
“Is this something you normally do? Ask random girls for a date?” She quipped.
“Is it something you normally do? Crash your car ?” He raised an eyebrow, a smirk on his face.
“No, this was the first time,” she mumbled.
“Where were you going?”
“I… I had to meet a friend,” she lied.
“Now let's get over with the stranger part, I am Ruben De Montrose.”
“Alaisa Parker, but I prefer Lisa.” She replied.
“Alaisa,” Her name rolled off from his lips. “Come on, let's move, it's freezing here.”
He stood up and brushed his shirt, then offered her his hand. She took his hand and got up, ignoring the electric current which jolted her. They walked to his car and he opened the door, gesturing for her to get in. She stepped into the luxurious car. It was a Lamborghini Gallardo: low, wide and fast, fantastically angular in style, and no less menacing for the charcoal grey colour it had been painted with. Before its encounter with her old Nissan, it had had a pristine, sleek body. It was one of the latest, most aggressive and agile cars' money could buy. Exactly the car Lisa would get for herself, as soon as she won the lotto or score a large inheritance from a previously unknown rich dead uncle.
“Nice car,” she commented just to break the deafening silence.
“Thank you, I love this car, what's your address?” He asked. She narrated her trailer home address.
It was the wee hours of the morning when she reached the trailer park.
“You can stop here, I just live a block down from here.” She said.
“Then I'll walk you.” It wasn't an offer.
Lisa could tell from the tone in his voice that he wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer. She took a deep breath. “I can walk on my own, I don't need adult supervision,” she said exasperated.
He laughed,” how are you going to explain the missing car to Jacob ?”
Lisa looked down and shivered, Jacob would skin her alive. “I will think of something.” She mumbled weakly.
The putrid scent of fear assaulted his senses, whoever was this Jacob, she feared him. Ruben didn't like it one bit. His wolf was urging him to rip that Jacob, But his human half wanted nothing to do with this girl. He reached towards his dashboard and Lisa recoiled in her seat. The dashboard opened, revealing bundles of banknotes.
She stopped and looked at him incredulously. “Fuck! What are you? Some sort of Mafia ?”
“That's irrelevant,” he took out a fat bundle of cash.” This is twice the cost of that piece of junk which you were driving. Take it.” He waved the bundle towards her.
Lisa wasn't sure if she should take him seriously or not. “Who are you? Superman?”
He chuckled, and one corner of his mouth turned up in that amused smile he'd been wearing off and on all night. “I prefer Batman. I don't think I can pull off that atrocious red and blue leotard.”
She shook her head. “I think you've done enough for me at this point,” she said cautiously, he wouldn't be doing her a favour for free. He would want something in return, of course.
Ruben rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance. “Why is it that people never do the smart thing when it's right in front of them? Look, I'm just offering you money for the damage. You shouldn't have to put up with that creep on your birthday.”“Why are you so concerned with me?” She asked.“Honestly?” He ran his hand through his hair, “I don't know. I told you, I am feeling generous today. I thought I might be able to help you out. If you want to face the trouble, be my guest. But I guess that when your mom's boyfriend gets a grip of what you did to his car… Who do you think is going to end up as target?” He was suddenly feeling very grim and didn't like it.
Lisa sat in silence for a minute, staring at nothing ahead. “You're right. I screwed this up. Look, I just don't like owing people anything. And I seem to be accumulating quite the bill with you. You came out of nowhere and,” she shifted in her seat, “well you know what you did. I am very obliged to you, but how the hell am I supposed to pay you back for this stuff?” Suddenly, she was worried, Jacob would have taken out his anger on her mom. She needed to check on her.
Ruben could understand how she was feeling. He didn't like owing anything to people, either. “You can call us even after we have our date.”
She looked like she was about to argue, but an authoritative look from Ruben kept her silent. Even if the glare she threw at him was screaming that she didn't think it was an even trade-off.
“It's not as big a favour as you might think.” He added.
“Maybe not for you,” she said,' you rich brat!' she thought to herself.“I'm not in a position to turn you down.” Lisa was feeling trapped. But she knew better than to think that it would be feasible to go back and face Jacob. Cash would shut him up, at least for some time.
“I need to go,” she unbuckled her seat and turned to leave. He scented her panic and was concerned.
She grabbed the bundle from his hand.” Thanks, this will do? And I will pay you back. “
“I will pick you up at 8 pm today for our date. Don't think you can bailout.” He reminded her.
She sighed, she hoped that he was kidding, but he was dead serious.
“As if I have a choice,” she mumbled and got out of the car.
“Hey Alaisa,” he called out.
She turned to look at him quizzing.
“Happy Birthday,” he said, smiling, and she could vow that her heart has stopped beating for a second. That was the most dazzling smile she had ever seen, his eyes seemed to have glowed and changed colour, but that was probably her imagination.
Ruben stayed until she had disappeared into the row of trailers. He picked up his phone and called his beta.
“Where are you, Alpha Ruben? You left the party hours ago.” Keith said, from the other side.
“I will be returning soon. Meanwhile, send Fergy to the Summer park. I want him to keep an eye on someone.” He spoke into the phone.“Wow! Praise my luck,” Lisa mouthed, as she counted the banknotes. That eccentric man had given her twenty thousand dollars in cash! 'Who carries this much money around?' She thought. It was enough to pay Jacob and run away from this hellhole. She hid half the amount in her jacket and moved towards her trailer, hoping to slip in undetected. Always Evangelical, Miss Donald watched her as she opened her trailer door. Her glasses moved up her narrow nose as she surveyed Lisa. Her haggard appearance and the time screamed out “Returning from a sinful night “. “She is so cursing me to eternal damnation,” Lisa thought. Miss Donald shot her one last acid glance before the doors closed again. “I have been judged,” Lisa thought ruefully. She crept into her door and rapped her knuckles on the metal twice. Leaning against the wall to hold up, she heard the tell-tale footfalls approach. The door swung open to reveal a visibly worried Mary.
“I took language class in school, I like old dead languages.” She said, making him chuckle. “What else do you like?” He couldn't help being curious about his mate. He had asked her on a date to pacify his wolf, who getting antsy. He was still not sure if he would claim her just yet. “Track sport, books.....and….,” she was going to say to Steve but then stopped. She had been so busy thinking about the mysterious Ruben that she had forgotten all about Steve's betrayal. He had not called her, even though it was her birthday. She sighed and brushed away that thought. Tonight she wouldn't think about this though, tonight she was going to enjoy and let loose. She eyed Ruben slyly, maybe get rid of her V card as well. “Did Jacob trouble you?” Ruben asked suddenly, breaking her reverie. “No! The money was enough to shut him up, thank you for saving my life and my hide.” “I told you helping others is my thing,” he chuckled. She took a dee
The first thing that Lisa noticed was that Ruben's eyes turned a strange grey-green as he grabbed her hand. It was back to its normal self within a flash. She blinked, this was the second instance she noticed something strange with his eyes. Maybe it was a reflection of the neon lights? Maybe he had some medical condition which she was unaware of? She dismissed the thought. The second thing she noticed was that an electric current seemed to pass from him into her, where he was holding her wrist. The spark shot up her spine and flowed out to her nipples and down to her very core. She'd never felt anything like it and stood transfixed, staring into his eyes. He moved first and, taking her by the hand, led her to the dance floor. She felt as if she were in a daze, watching through a fog as he effortlessly moved through the crowd to the middle of the floor. There he turned to face her and, with his hands at her waist, pulled her close to his body. She felt drawn to his heat as sh
"Mine!" growled his wolf. "Mate. Now!'" His wolf wanted to grab her and plunge into her body right away. "She's human," he reminded his wolf, "and they're awfully frail." So, he struggled to control his inner beast. Besides, he didn't want her to be afraid of him. He tried to take shallow breaths to calm his raging need. He inhaled her intoxicating smell, which went straight to his groin. Unbelievably, his cock got bigger and harder than it had ever been before. Lisa was pinned against the door while Ruben took her lips again in a mind-numbing kiss and felt his hand at the back of her dress, caressing her through the fabric. Before she realized his intent, he pulled her zipper down and peeled the dress down her breasts. Lisa stilled, coming to her senses. She pulled her head back, breaking the kiss, and was about to tell him to stop when he held one breast in his hand and closed his lips around the bud. Her intended protest died before she could find her voice. The feeling o
Ruben De Montrose just lay there watching her sleep. He had hoped that his wolf would be satisfied now. She had fallen asleep due to the exertion and the bite. She would be knocked out for hours. He couldn't leave her now. His wolf won't allow it. He wasn't vain, but he knew he was in excellent shape. He just hoped she liked what she saw. He certainly liked what he had laying beside him. She was a human and knew nothing about him. So, he would have to be patient and teach her his ways, and a few other things he would enjoy teaching her. The thought made his loins tighten up again.***************The entire house was at a standstill, the present emotional state of the pack leader reverberated in the compound, even his betas did everything possible to keep their distance. The alpha was not to be disturbed. This was more of an emergency than whatever else anyone had to bring up.No one knew the identity of the female the Alpha had brought with him, he had ta
Lisa breathed with relief as soon Ruben left the room. She just wanted to get out of that place and forget about everything, she cursed the day she met Ruben. Her heart tugged a little at the thought of leaving him. But she couldn't stay, he was mysterious and who knows, even dangerous. Determined, she caught her sandals in her hands and looked for her purse. She found it on another chair and noticed that she had several missed calls on her phone from her mom.She left a brief message for her mom, telling her she was fine and stayed back at a friend's place to study. She was on the way home and then decided to call a cab, but she had no idea where she was. Thankfully, she was smart and knew how to use technology. She searched Google Maps to find her current location. She was surprised to see that the house was on the edge of a forest in the middle of nowhere. However, she managed to call a cab company and asked him to arrive at the nearest place she could recognize near the r
“Why is this damm place so fucking huge! “ Ruben cribbed, as he ran down towards the entrance. How Lisa managed to get out of the estate without getting lost was incredible. “Blame your grandfather for that, pup! I had told him the design of this house was stupid. But did he listen? No! Kids these days.” Elizabeth stamped her cane and shook her head. Elizabeth was perhaps the oldest werewolf in North America. Maybe the oldest in the world as well. She was rumoured to be 1500 years old. When different dynasties ruled Europe, she was there. When the Empires fell, she was there. She had lived through the civil wars, the world wars and every major historical event. Ruben and Andrea rolled their eyes. “What are you doing here, Elizabeth? You should be in your room, resting,” Andrea said gently. “How can I rest in this commotion ?” She turned her attention to Ruben, “Did you meet someone yet? Ruling alphas aren't supposed to be single.” She said d
The ancient trees towered over her as Lisa walked through the faintly visible deer path, strangely she felt safe amid the hushed stillness of the primaeval and remote place. She could hear the faint rustling of small animals in the underbrush, frolicking and foraging for food. The place was teeming with life, but the one being she was looking for was noticeably absent. She hurried excitedly along the faint trail, hoping that she would find her elusive prey. The sparkling lake water beckoned through the breaks in the trees. She trudged through the sweet-smelling knee-high grass, not caring as it lashed at her bare legs.“He's not coming,” she thought forlornly, shoulders drooping with disappointment. Sighing, she slumped down and sat on the ground, pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around both legs as she rocked to and fro to comfort herself. The faint yapping sound reached her first, and then the howling of several wolves ripped through the
