Chapter 2

Avatia's POV

As soon as I got home, Kendal, my only cousin who just happens to be gay enveloped me in his usual bear hug. On any other day, I'd be happy to see him, but not after that horrible encounter at work. I just wish I never helped in the first place. "My baby girl doesn't look so happy, tell me, what's wrong?"

I knew he was going to read my body language and tell what was going on, but that's just how Kendal is, so full of emotions. He was good at reading people. "I'm fine Ken, I'll just go up stairs and freshen up. Where is my mom by the way?"

"First of all, its Kenny, Ken and Kendal sound so boyish." He said and I rolled my eyes, he wasn't sane at all. I mean his name is Kendal but he was bent on changing it to Kenny cause to him, it sounded girly. "Are you done rolling those beautiful eyes of yours? "

I just nodded, not in the mood for all his drama.

"Secondly, you're not going up without telling the best cousin you have what's wrong. And lastly, mom went to get some groceries. "

"You're the only cousin I have that's why you are the best." I reminded him. I knew he wouldn't let me go unless I told him what happened, so I did. I told him everything.

"Oh my goodness, how can someone be so rude, worst still, to someone so innocent and beautiful like you. Don't bother my princess, I'm gonna kick his ass when I see him. That's if his ass looks ugly though." Kenny consoled me once I was done. I laughed at his cocky joke. He always had a way to make me happy. "How about I go with you to work tomorrow, that way, I'll punch him hard. You said he always comes, right? "

I nodded again. That's what Grace told me. I stood up to go have a long nice shower but left only after Kenny kissed my forehead.

The next day, I woke up with a positive feeling, prepared and went down for my breakfast. Kenny was helping mom. "G'morning mom, Kenny. "

"How was your night, sweetheart?" Mom asked as she set a plate of pancakes in front of me.

"Sweet. This smells delicious." I complimented moms frying. Well, I didn't know much about cooking as much as mom and Kenny did.

Kenny came and sat next to me whispering in my ear how it tasted good because of him. Mom heard because she playfully smacked his head with a spatula, causing me to chuckle.

After breakfast, I headed for work. Once I got in, Draya immediately pulled me to the washroom like she'd been waiting for me. "Woahhh... Slow down tigress." I said gasping for air. Draya looked like she'd seen a ghost. "What happened?"

"Remember you practically 'insulted' Mr. Vaughn yesterday? " She asked. When I gave her a blank look, she sighed and made her point clear. "Well that's what he claims and now, there's a big big problem."

First he insults me, then he lies, and now I'm in trouble? Who is this guy? Who does he think he is? "And this problem is?" I asked, quite curious.

"There's a 1% chance that you still have the job. Adam wants to see you." She answered in a sympathetic voice.

No. This can't be happening. I barely got this job with a good pay and now I'm loosing it. No God. Mom's gonna be disappointed. I was loosing it. I thought waking up with a positive feeling was good luck. Turns out it isn't for me today. The tears started rolling and I couldn't stop it. Draya pulled me into a BFF hug whispering soft words to me as I kept crying.

"We're not sure, you may still have it. Let's not jump into conclusions yet, okay?" She consoled but we both knew it was pointless. I pulled out and walked to Adam's office. The office was pretty large and comfortable. Once I knocked and heard him give orders for me to come in, I walked in and took a seat on one of the comfortable chairs. I kept staring at my palms as I drew flowers on it. Something I always did when I was nervous.

"I can't believe what you did yesterday Avatia. Mr. Vaughn is dangerous. No one steps on his toes and worst still, adds something to his coffee." He said once I sat and I knew it was hurting him to talk to me like that. "He claims you insulted him and that's not good."

Was all this really because of coffee? Normal coffee? Then it hit me. My eyes widened when realization hit me. Now I know why his voice was so familiar. He was the guy from the Lamborghini that almost ran me over. I did insult him three days ago when I stuck my tongue out to him. He's probably paying me back. Oh no, my tongue never puts me in trouble, why now? Why did it have to be him. I never thought I'll see him again.

I looked up at Adam and hit the nail right on the head. "Do I still have the job?"

His looks said it all. I didn't. Oh great. So great. I stood up and looked at the fatherly figure staring back at me with regret. "Thanks for accepting me work here Adam. I'm grateful. I'll just pack my stuff and head out."

I was at the door when his next words made me realize I wasn't the only one who felt bad. "I'm sorry Avatia, he made me do this. I'd help you if I can but there's not much I can do____" I didn't want to hear him finish so I ran out into Draya's waiting arms and cried. Cried for the unfair treatment I was receiving. He's the one who almost killed me and now I'm the bad guy?

After a few minutes of crying, I packed my stuff which wasn't much and decided to walk a bit before hailing a cab. Walking always made me feel a little better and I could use this opportunity to think of what I will tell mom.

A few minutes later, I saw a black Ferrari heading towards my direction. Nice car, I thought to my self. But who knows if the person inside is much of a trouble maker like Mr. Black. The car pulled to a stop right in front of me and the person who came out, well, who else was it going to be if not him. He probably wants to rob his victory on my face. I just ignored him and kept walking. I didn't expect it but he actually followed me. "What do you want from me?" I snapped, not turning to look at him.

He walked past me and stood, blocking me from walking any further. "Nothing. I have everything already." He said making it very clear how proud he was. I ignored him again and continued walking. He didn't have to tell me I'm not high class like him.

"Well then I don't have to waste my time on you. Now get your proud face out of my sight." I didn't even know where and when I mustered the courage to talk to him like that. I wasn't the one to speak rudely to people but this guy was something else. "I don't even know why you're following me after making me loose my job so just go."

"For a 'princess' like you, you really don't have to work at a café. I just did you a favour. Don't I deserve a thank you?" He asked raising his eyebrows. Well, he emphasized on the 'princess' like he knew me personally and I must admit, it sounded beautiful but he was insane. He wanted a 'thank you' for making me loose my job? Was he serious? I just rolled my eyes and continued walking, praying I saw a cab as soon as possible. "You know, that's what makes you more beautiful than you already are, when you roll your eyes. That blue shade turns gray for 2 seconds."

That caused me to stop. My breath hitched. How'd he know that. Only the closest people in my life knew that and it usually took months for them to notice it.

Who is this man? He almost ran me over, cussed, made me loose my job and then told me I was beautiful in a span of just three days?

I might not know who he is, but he looks like trouble. Handsome trouble.
