Night Off

Hunnie,

I awoke to my cell phone's alarm going off, startling me and wolfy, whom was still resting his head and paw on my lap.

"Damnit! I forgot I had work today !" I couldn't just trust this wolf to be here alone, so I contemplated calling in sick.

'Can they find someone on time ? Should I say I am sick? Possibly just go in later?' I began thinking.

My, there goes my perfect attendance.

'Sigh'

"Hi this is Hunnie Inzotta calling out for April 29th's 4pm shift." I hated to call out only one hour before my shift starts, but that should give them enough time to find a replacement for tonight.

Although for a Friday night, I did expect the ER to be full all night and, I did expect to get shit on Sunday from the other nurses.

The whole time I was on the phone, the wolf stayed in the exact same spot.

I talked to him intriguingly, while running my fingers through his black silky fur. He raised his head to me and tried to lick my face again, but I moved my head away.

'This whole licking the face thing needs to stop!'

"Or are you hungry again?"  I asked him ignoring my thoughts.

When I went to go stand up, he got up with me and started to whimper again.

"What is it boy?" I said looking down at him.

Maybe he really is hungry. Gosh, this is going to be hard work, keeping him hidden...and quiet!

Walking over to my dresser, I grabbed the box that held my energy bars. I unwrapped two and placed it down on the carpet near the window. This way I have enough time to cook something up quickly.

'Noodles! Everyone loves ramen noodles!' Nodding to myself in agreement. I had no idea where the thought came from, but we do have noodles in the pantry.

Walking into the kitchen I see the twins at it again. Arguing and criticizing each other's cooking.

They each were making a stuffed chicken breast.

"Mmmm"

I slid passed them, not wanting to waste any more time and went to the cabinets.

I decided on making 5 bags of ramen noodles so me and Wolfy could both eat. Just from the thought, my stomach started to form it's own butterflies. 'Why the hell would I get butterflies from that?'

I let my mind ponder to its' self. I wasn't cooking for my man, I was cooking for an animal. Silly me.

'Ba-Bang..Bang!'

"What the hell" I accidentally said out loud, causing the twins to look over the counter at me.

I smiled and shrugged it off,  pretending I didn't have a gigantic wolf in my room who was probably destroying it. I started to sweat nervously as I heard another thump, but this time a lot louder. I slowly walked over to my door after setting a pot of water to boil.

When I opened the door and slammed it shut behind me, I seen Wolfy shaking his fur near the window.

Uhh, wait a second. 'Did he just come from outside my window ?' A light clicked in my head as I looked down at muddy paw prints on the windowsill.

I looked down at him and he was now licking his privates clean. He must've went out and pissed I'm guessing.

Oh gosh, I totally forgot that he might have to use the bathroom at times!

Taking care of a wolf might be a lot harder than I thought!

Wolfy walked over to me with his eyes glued to my face. He tried again to lick me, but I distracted him by running my fingers behind his ears.

"What a good Wolfy" I said in a baby voice as he pushed his head into my fingertips.

Ive never felt these feelings before.

"Hey Hunnie your water is almost boiling over!" yelled one of the girls through my bedroom door.

"Okay, be right there." I said retreating to my door.

'At least he is very quiet and doesn't pounce everywhere or bark at my door!'  I was so confused as to why he didn't act like a normal wolf even the slightest bit.

Is this how wolves behaved? So nonchalantly?

                                 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bringing the hot pot of ramen and a bowl for myself to my room, I used a fork to carry some noodles into my own bowl and left the rest for wolfy. I wanted to make sure he eats, so he doesn't eat me of course...

When I entered the room he was up against my door and I could barely even open it. "Go..go...go!" I whispered shoving my door as hard as I could.

He must've smelled the noodles!

I entered the room holding the pot above my shoulders and my bowl sitting right on it. I walked to the towel placing it down and he came over instantly. Shoving me over with his huge body.

"Oh wow!  I hope it's ok to feed you this" I said to him as he inhaled every swirly noodle into his mouth and choking.

I definitely couldn't afford to care for a sick wolf this time around. I had no idea what I was doing.

I couldn't help but to feel satisfied, like I was doing a good deed though. I patted his thighs as he ate his food, but quickly stopped in my actions, as predatory animals didn't like to be bothered while they ate.

He snapped his neck up to me when I took my hands off of him. Then he extended his right hind leg out.

'What a weird wolf, he doesn't show much aggression.' I pondered to myself.

I sat on my bed eating the noodles and playing around through my phone. I seen that lenah had texted me before she went into her class, but it was already too late to reply now.

She attends a human college along with Witchy's academy, like me! Except, I went to college right after high school graduation and not straight to Witchy World's fancy academy.

Watching Wolfy gag and choke on the stringy noodles, I couldn't help but to feel bad. The poor thing must be starving out there.

"Oh shit water!" I said hearing him cough-gag again.

Slowly opening my room door, I peeped to the left and the right to see if the coast was clear, before darting to the cabinets in search for another giant pot.

The one from breakfast time must still be in the woods somewhere, so I hurriedly filled a medium sized pot with water and crept to my room. I heard some of the girls from upstairs making their way down the stairs.

"Hunnie is that you ?!"

Called someone to my right, coming from the living room.

"Hi, it's me. " I stated nervously, as I held this big pot of water infront of me. It was one of the professors that taught at the academy. She's also in charge of our new ascending teens. Professor Plumith.

"Aren't we thirsty?" She laughs eyeing the pot of water I held that was filled to the rim.

"Always working on spells, aren't cha?" Her face broke out into a wide and proud smile.

I just nodded my head in agreement, not looking to raise any suspicion.

"I need you to assist the coven tomorrow, for the new ascending teens. Can you do that?" She asks, knowing damn well I'd do anything for this judgmental coven.

"Yes I'll be glad to help" I replied back quickly.

"Great, and if you work tomorrow please take it off. It'll be at 6pm. I need you too explain all of our coven rules to the new witches in great detail."

Professor Plumith leaves the kitchen and enters into the living room, to only begin instructing more witches around as they walked down stairs.

How dare she ask me to take MY profession off for an ascension that never even COMPLETED mine?

Even though I am off tomorrow, I was still feeling offended by the coven. Feeling a bit of jealousy and regret too...

I entered my room with my head hung low, forgetting why I even had this pot of water to begin with. Until I saw Wolfy sitting ever so obediently in his corner. Wagging his tail and dancing in place.

He always seemed so cheerful to see me, even if he was a bit scary looking, he was the only one bringing me some sort of happiness or energy that moved my chakras.

Lowering the pot of water in front of him, I then sat on my bed and let the awkward tears fall down. I really didn't want to attend any ascension.

I already knew all the snotty bitches that have judged me in the past will be there. I don't see them often, because we hang out with different crowds and live in different fraternities, if you call it. Still to this day, the wizards and witches of the coven can be a bit cruel to me.

"Oh Hunnie, If you wanna be a Light Witch you must be one with light only"

"You mustn't be from a dark clan either!"

"Hunnie can't be in this coven ever, because she practiced Dark magic before!"

"It's the witch who burned the old coven down!"

"Hey Hunnie, don't blow anything up here or we'll report you to the Holy Council."

Or my favorite one of all time,

"If you keep using Dark magic it'll consume you and leave you ugly!"

In my coven, you are either afraid of me, or envy me, but that doesn't stop them from making me feel alone.
