Prologue

Vance Pov

"VANCE I love you!" Steven shouted at me when I turned my back on him.

I stopped.

I restrained myself from looking back at him but not my tears.

I took a deep breath. I hope the pain I feel goes away.

I tried to keep my voice steady, "It doesn't matter," I blinked, "you can go now-"

"That matters to me!" he pulled on my arm.

I was weak so he easily leaned me against the wall. I bowed, hoping he wouldn’t see my tears.

"That matters to me Vance," he lifted my face.

Our eyes met. For the last time. I want to stare at his face, read his eyes and hear his voice more closely.

I felt the agony of his will as he took a deep breath.

“It’s important to me that you know I love you so much,” he said hoarsely and seriously.

I bite my lips.

Shit! I can't stop my tears from falling.

"Why Steven?"

You fool! You only hurting me more!

"So that I can have hope that you can wait for me..."

Tears welled up in my eyes.

I couldn't stop crying.

He is so bad!

I weakly slapped my fist on his chest. He accepted it.

I wanted to hug him the second time I did that.

He is unmoved. He gently wiped away my tears.

I close my eyes when I feel his hands on my cheek.

I was about to beg when I woke up and met his gaze.

He avoided looking at me and then closed his eyes.

"Don't leave..." I begged.

He hit the wall on the side of my head when he looked at me again.

His tears welled up that he had been holding back.  I feel the pain and agony in his breathing.

I feel like when I ask him that again, he will really stay by my side.

I shook and hugged him.

I shouldn't have asked him that.

Whether we want to stay together now, I know we can't. He had to leave.

I could feel him crying.

"I'll be back... Vance..."  He hugged me tightly, "Can you wait for me?"

I slapped his back.

Waiting?

Waiting is the word I don’t want to hear from him. Those people who say that often always come back for a long time.

I objected as he pulled away from my body.

Im not ready.

I hugged him tightly.

I'm just crying. Not speaking.

"Wait for me... Please... I'll be back..." he whispered.

He hugged me tightly again.  He let me cry first and then later he spoke.

"Vance, open your eyes and watch the sunrise."

I did what he said as he caressed my back.

I saw the sun slowly rise.  It was very beautiful but sad.

"The next sunrise I will come, promise ..." his hug tightened. "On that day we will never be separated. I don't need to leave by your side."

Gradually my heart calmed down and relied on what he said.

"Steven, I don't want to wait long!"

I might die of grief!

"Don't make me wait too long Steven!"

I cried after I remembered the last time we met.

"Steven, why are you keeping me waiting so long?"

I stared as the sunlight hit my face.

Pain hit me again. I can't breath.

It's been a few years since the sun was rising like today but Steven still hasn't come back.

Gradually my feet stepped across the expanse of terrain where I was. Until I no longer realized I was running fast.

I’m used to exhausting myself when I feel like I can’t breathe anymore.

I’m on the motocross track right now. It's okay for me to run here now because the caretaker says no one will use this place for now because it's temporarily closed. This motocross field is one of the property of the billionaire heir. I bite my lips when I climbed at one of the obstacles. The mountainous but have a flat surface on top. If I'm not mistaken they call it tabletop track.

I stopped when I noticed that the road I was running on was muddy.

I was so tired that I rested my hand on my thigh while catching my breath. I looked up at the sun, I was disgusted. I feel like the sun still following me to hurt me with Steven's memory.

I couldn't stop myself from shouting that sun!

"What else do you want?! How many more thousand sunrises should I witness before Steven comes in front of me?!" I shouted then seemed to smile like crazy.

Why do I blame that sun? Steven should have answered me why he took so long to come back.

I shouted, "Steven! Please come back to me now! Don't make me wait any longer! Where are you? How many thousand more sunrises will I have to wait for before I can be with you?!"

I cried. My voice echoed around.

I looked up at the sky. I might get an answer there.

There was a moment of silence before I heard the sound of the motor approaching where I was.

A few more moments.

I was startled by a motorcycle flying in the air.  The whole area seemed to be in slow-motion when the rider hung in the air.

I'm surprised. I do not know what to do.

The incident happened too fast.

I remained standing and staring at the rider. I saw how the rider got away from his motorcycle. The motor goes to the right and the rider on the left where i was standing.

The rider jumped and flew falling on me!

My chest throbbed as he fell on me.

I was scared but I wanted to save him. I thought that if I avoided him, his fall to the ground might get worse.

I will catch him! That’s right, that’s what I should do!

But it's not that easy. I met his body and when our bodies applied, I felt his force very strong.

My whole body shook. I lost control and he completely swept me away when we fell into the mud and rolled down to the ground.

I felt the pain of my body, I was dizzy and terrified.

The strength of my chest pounding. The man hugged me and would not let me go.

Why I feel like he is taking care of me? We stopped. I was on top of him. Hugged his chest.

Our eyes met when I looked at him. I couldn’t recognize his face because he was wearing goggles and a helmet. I was stunned when I saw the blood on his face.

I was thankful when I feel he is still breathing.

I turned away from him but he raised his arm and hugged me. He still has the strength not to let me go.

I don’t know why I felt butterflies fly in my stomach. This is how it feels when Steven is near me.

I raised my hand to identify who he was.

Suddenly we felt a loud explosion.

I can't believe his motorcycle exploded so hard. Impossible. How did that happen?

That explosion shook the earth and us very strongly.

I felt the impact and heat it brought and then I noticed the blood flowing from my head.

I kept getting weaker. I also felt the release of his hug from me.

My tears flowed.

Before I fainted I even heard the voices of people approaching us.

"Steven!"
