Chapter four

Peggy POV

I don't know why my husband keeps insisting that we go through with this.

It's Halloween night for Pete's sake.

But then again utterly was my fault.

I should have waited till the next day before talking about children with him again.

I don't know what had gotten over me and had made me forget.

This is unlike me to have forgotten such a thing but then again, no one in town celebrated it.

The fact that no one celebrates Halloween here still didn't mean my fear of what we were doing had gone away.

Everyone here is strange and creepy.

As I and my husband continued with our business, I felt like it wasn't just the two of us anymore.

Something in me told me to look around and I did.

Immediately, I regretted looking.

"What is that?!" I yelled.

"What is what? Stop it Peggy. You know I don't like being pranked like that." Henry said.

"I'm being serious Henry! I'm not joking!" I screamed.

Henry turned his head to the direction of stared at.

You cannot belief how surprised I was to here my husband's next words.

"Peggy, what's wrong with you? There is nothing there." He said.

I screamed out loud and my husband flinched.

"There is a demon standing over there!" I yelled, too scared to even point at it.

It was dripping skin all over and it seemed to be melting to nowhere. It was just dripping without reducing.

It didn't even have a normal face at all. It's lips, or rather, what had seemed to be considered as lips, were sown tightly closed.

It's nose was that of a skeleton's but just covered with a thin layer of skin.

One of its eyes seemed to be popping out and the other seemed to be sinking in.

The demon stood there, tall and crooked. Having a freakish smile that looked like it was laughing, it just stood there staring at me.

I felt my entire body shiver at the sight of it.

Never had I met or even seen a demon in my entire life!

Worst of all is that my husband couldn't see it.

"Please don't harm me! Stay away from me!" I yelled out in great fear.

I was right about everything all along.

It wasn't such a great idea to do this on Halloween night.

Especially when we're trying to have a baby.

The strange figure moved a step closer and I panicked.

I bigger version of it made its way out of the mouth of the first and I couldn't take it anymore.

I struggled to free myself from my husband's group but he wasn't letting me go.

"Let go of me Henry! Please! Let go!" I screamed.

My husband paid no attention to me and continued going.

He must have thought he was the one making me scream.

But why did this demon have to appear to me and only me.

This is not what I had bargained for.

I only wanted a child of my own. I never planned to entertain demons in bed.

They kept coming closer and I panicked even more. The more they walked closer, the more in number they created.

I felt a shock all over my body and the last thing I remembered was the far of the demon as it drew nearer to me.

I opened my eyes and found myself naked on the bed. My body was covered with the bed sheet.

I made to leave the room and at the same time, tried to figure out what had happened to me but I remembered nothing at all.

I put on my night gown and went looking for my husband in the living room.

He wasn't there but I soon found him in the kitchen.

"Good morning my love." He greeted me.

"Good morning." I responded.

"So you're cooking breakfast today?" I asked him.

"Yes. You deserve it. Rested well enough?" He asked.

"That's the point Henry. I don't remember anything." I said to him.

I pulled one of he chairs in the kitchen closer to me and sat on it.

I rubbed my palm against my forehead and a sharp headache came to me as I did so.

"My head..." I said in a whisper.

My husband moved away from what he was doing and came closer to me.

He went on one knee and placed his right hand on my left shoulder.

I felt a bit better as he did so.

"Are you okay? I hope everything is fine." He asked.

"Yes, it's all good. It's just a little headache. Nothing to be worried about." I replied.

"Okay." He said and got up.

"But what happened last night? And why was I naked?" I asked him.

"You mean you don't remember anything?" He asked with a confused look on his face.

Henry POV

"Nothing at all?" I asked again just to be sure.

"Yes. I don't remember last night. All I know is that you returned home early." She said.

I sighed and then went back to the spot I stood to cook and resumed cooking.

"You were very tired and needed rest." I told her.

"But what does that have to do with me waking up naked? I always wear my nightgown before sleeping." She said.

"You cleaned up around the house and you were very fatigued. You actually wanted to take a bath but ended up falling asleep on bed instead." I lied.

"Oh... Okay. That must have been it. I just don't know why my memory wouldn't wake up with me." She said.

It's better my wife remembers nothing from last night.

She acted totally out of control and I wouldn't want to make it the topic of discussion this morning.

I don't want to live a life believing that my wife is crazy. Telling me during sex that she was seeing demons was just too much for me.

Of all the things she could have said to me to get out of sex, it just had to be about demons.

I knew she was shy about revealing her body. I also knew it was her first time but I never knew that she would make up such a thing.
