"Alright, Luke. The first and very basic technique is to strike from above," Andrew said, holding a wooden sword in his hand. "As your starting position, your left foot should be here as your leading foot."

Looking down in his ready stance, he explained, "Your right foot is to the back. This way, your body weight is evenly distributed and your hips are facing towards the opponent."

He held tightly on the grip and demonstrated, "Your sword is pretty much at shoulder level. Like this."

"Then, you bring your sword forward this way. You step your right foot this way, out of the line of attack, and then bring down your blade, hitting your opponent!" Andrew turned to Luke with a confident grin and said, "It's very easy... What do you think?"

"Dada! Dada! Num, num mama!" The one-year-old was pointing to the door, wanting to go to his mommy.
