Chapter 9
***Logan’s POV***
We had spent the last hour and a half of the drive asking way more than 20 questions. It made me realize that she was not as shy or meek as she seemed at first. Auri was strong, independent and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. At least not with me. I loved it. I knew her wolf Kai and Cato were talking in the background but I was enjoying her, basking in the moonlight that was coming off of Auri.
We had finished a few harder questions when I heard her curse for the first time. It surprised me and sent me in panic mode. But when she asked to borrow my phone, I thought about warning her not to call any of her family. I was going to deal with them in the morning when we got back, through Alpha Leo. But I trusted her and didn’t say anything.

***Auri’s POV*** I had been upset that I woke up to an empty bed. The sheets, the pillows, the whole room smelled like Logan and I was in overdrive. I could barely breathe with how much I wanted him. I woke up to the sun streaming into the windows. Blinking and covering my eyes against the sun, I looked around the room. I heard Bryan’s warning but I didn’t move. I held Logan, my body covering his back and my arms wrapping around his neck. “It’s okay Logan, it’s okay.” I whispered into his ears, my eyes shut against the onslaught of emotions. “You took me away from there. Logan didn’t come out of his office for the rest of the day. Bryan and I made lunch which he tried to share with Logan. Only to be kicked out of the office immediately. I woke up in one of the guest beds next to Logan’s room. It felt awkward to sleep in his bed. Not knowing if he was going to come home in the middle of the night. Not knowing if he wanted me in his bed at all. So I had chosen to sleep in the guest bedroom next door. One thing Logan had not gotten me was pajamas. So I was wearing his shirt and boxers again. Opening the door to his room quietly, I looked in to see an empty bed. Kai whined for our mate but I was relieved. I still didn’t want to face him. “Cub?” I looked upon from the book I was reading. I had settled myself in my favorite window, curled up with one of the many books in Morgan’s library. Kai and I had been having a serious discussion about the main character being an idiot when Morgan had come in. “Maybe you should talk to him.” My eyes narrowed as I watched him walk over to me. After I had told Morgan what had happened, and my fears about the whole situation, he had dropped the subject. He knew I would be dealing with it in my own way and never one to pry. Which is why it made this all the more surprising. He sat down on the sill with me and took my hand from the book and held it. “They’ve been showing up every night at the entrance. Asking to speak with you.” Morgan squeezed my hand. I looked down at the book in my lap and chewed on my lip. Morgan put his hand under my chin and made me look up at him. At my request, he was keeping them out of the club.

***Logan’s POV*** When I had pulled up to the packhouse at 10 am it was quiet. I knew I fucked up yesterday. The moment I let the words slip out of my mouth. The moment I felt the utter despair through the mate bond, I knew I fucked up. I had kicked my desk in half, threw my chair at the bookshelf before ripping the door off its hinges. Bryan didn’t try to stop me. He just watched as I grabbed my jacket and left. I knew he heard what I had said and he was pissed at me as well. But I already felt like enough of an asshole, I didn’t need him to tell me that. I took the Jeep and drove. I just drove and ended up in one of the cities that bordered my territories.
