Raymond’s day could not be described as just “uncomfortable”. He initially thought that divorcing Scarlett would be a good and happy thing for him.

Nevertheless, not long after the news of their divorce spread, he received several calls from his close childhood friends and buddies.

All of them asked the same thing as soon as he picked up the phone. “Ray, did you really divorce Scarlett?”

This question would not make things difficult for Raymond at all. He was not going to hide that he and Scarlett had divorced. Besides, he could not have hidden it because of the show that happened in the morning.

Raymond answered honestly and coldly, “Yes.”

One of them gasped on the other end of the call. “My God, Scarlett the dumb woman has finally given up on you and not cling to you? Ray, for a moment, I don’t know if I should congratulate you or pity you. A woman like Scarlett is hard to find even if you openly look for one in our circle. You’re the only one in her heart, and she only has eyes for you! She’s just a little stupid, a bit easier to bully, slightly poor, and is a gold-digger to some degree. If you think carefully, it seems like there’s nothing bad about her.”

Raymond, who originally thought that he would be congratulated. “???”

‘What kind of friends are these?’

The key was that there was more than one such friend. After receiving three such calls in a row, Raymond’s face was as dark as a stormy sky.

Even so, this was not the only thing that gave him a terrible mood along with his divorce with Scarlett. Just as he finished dealing with the phone calls from his bad friends who were gloating over this and watching the show, Frank suddenly told him that Jean was here.

The divorce between him and Scarlett had become a big deal on the internet, hence he knew why Jean had come.

After knowing that Scarlett and Raymond were really divorced, Jean could not hide her joy on the way here. Despite that, she was not so happy when she saw the trending topics.

‘How did Mark Jones get involved with Scarlett?’

It was even said that Mark had had a crush on Scarlett for many years. Although he knew very well that it was impossible between them, he still hoped every day that she would jump out of the fire pit of the Shaw family. Now that she had jumped out of it, Mark was elated as someone who had crushed on her in the past and was now a good friend.

From just a few sentences, Jean made out many meanings.

The joy on her face was gone, and she rushed straight into Raymond’s office. “Ray, tell me the truth. Did Scarlett divorce you because she cheated on you?”

Though Raymond’s three years of marriage with Scarlett was nominal, no man would be willing to be cuckolded.

Raymond’s face instantly turned cold. “Mom, what are you talking about?”

Jean had just been smack-talked by Scarlett a few days ago. Now that she saw the internet saying that the Shaw family abused Scarlett and was a fire pit, and that her son was very likely cuckolded, she could not calm down even if she wanted to.

“Look for yourself! You just came out of the City Hall, then this woman’s pursuer came to pick her up! Who knows if they’ve been seeing each other for a long time! Our Shaw family can’t be bullied like this!”

Raymond had a meeting and was signing documents after he returned from the City Hall. He had expected that the news of his divorce with Scarlett would blow up on the internet, but he did not expect it to be so extreme.

When he saw the words “has had a crush on Scarlett for many years”, his heart seemed to have been pricked by something. For a second, he also doubted if Scarlett was suddenly so quick to divorce him because she was already seeing this man.

Having said that, it was only for a moment. As much as Raymond did not like Scarlett, he also knew that she was ordered to do this and that all day long by Jean in the Shaw Residence. There was no time for her to cheat on him at all.

“Mom, me and Scarlett have divorced, and it was a peaceful divorce; she doesn’t want anything. In the future, let’s just pretend that this person doesn’t exist at all. You should read less entertainment news.”

Needless to say, Jean was so furious not only because of this trending topic but also because she thought that Scarlett must have gained a lot from the Shaw family to be willing to divorce. Who knew, Raymond told her that Scarlett did not want anything.

Jean did not believe it. “She doesn’t want anything? Didn’t she stay with us for three years for money? Now that she’s willing to divorce you, how could she not want anything?”

Raymond did not want to deal with Jea anymore. He directly dialed the intercom to call Frank in. “Show the divorce agreement to my mom.”

Following that, he picked up the coat on his side and simply got up to leave.

Jean looked at his back and called out to him, “Hey, Ray, you’re not going home with me for dinner?”

“I have something to do.”

Raymond rarely went back to the Shaw family’s villa. For one, it was because Scarlett was there. Secondly, it was because the relationship between him and Jean was not as good as what the outside world saw.

Back at his apartment, Raymond finally had some silence.

Being busy for the whole day did not give him much time to think about his divorce with Scarlett. This morning, he had only gone to see what trick she was trying to play again.

He did not believe that she would divorce him. Just like what Alexander Smith said, Scarlett was a bit of a gold-digger, but she truly loved him.

She was extremely greedy. She was after the money and also wanted him, so how could she agree to a divorce so easily?

Therefore, Raymond went over without even bringing the divorce agreement that she had brought over that day. However, he did not expect her to hand him another identical agreement the first thing she saw him.

Honestly, Raymond was quite baffled at that time, and he did whatever Scarlett asked. By the time he came back to his senses, the divorce license was in his hand.

Oh, it was inside his pocket at the moment.

Raymond took out the divorce license from his pocket. It was still red but the words “Marriage License” had changed to “Divorce License”.

He somehow felt that it was striking to the eye. He lifted his hand and tossed it into the trash can not far away.

All of the sudden, the phone beside him rang. He turned to look but had no intention of answering it.

Nonetheless, the caller seemed to be enjoying it and called over and over again.

Raymond reached for his phone with a sullen face. His expression looked worse when he saw the caller ID. “What is it?”

It was Alexander who had called. He had just gloated over Raymond’s divorce in the afternoon, and he called again within two hours. Raymond could not think what else he would do apart from further mocking him.

“What’s the matter? Aren’t you going to have a bachelor party after your divorce?”

“Get lost.”

Raymond did not want to talk to Alexander. He cursed and planned to hang up, but Alexander suddenly added from the other end of the call, “By the way, I’m at Scarlett’s bachelorette party now. Your ex-wife is really generous. She’s paying for all of the drinks on the first floor at Night Party. A lot of your hard-earned money must’ve been used for this, right?”

He frowned and said, “She didn’t ask for a single penny.”

“...”

This time, it was Alexander’s turn to be surprised. Who in the whole of Juanton did not know how much of a gold-digger Scarlett was?

Back then, Jean fainted due to low blood pressure, and Scarlett happened to have run into her and sent her to the hospital. When Raymond asked Scarlett how she would like to be repaid, she asked for ten million dollars right away. Before Raymond could agree to it, she changed her mind and asked for a hundred million dollars.

At that time, someone took a short video and uploaded it to the internet. Raymond’s face darkened on the spot, but the woman was greedy and asked out of the blue, “I want you to marry me.”

A hundred million dollars was not enough to satisfy Scarlett anymore. She had set her eyes on Raymond’s worth.

Throughout the three years of their marriage, they were merely nominal husband and wife. Everyone in the circle laughed at Scarlett and thought that if they divorced, she would take a few hundred million dollars from Raymond.

However, what did Raymond just say? She did not ask for a single penny?
