[Arissa’s POV]
I don’t know how long I slept, but the sound of canon fire startled me awake. Jumping up, I grabbed Ivan, who was also alert, and rolled out of the bed just as a large fire ball crashed through the window of the bedroom.
Blocking my eyes, I waited for the area to become calm before getting to my feet and stepping forward so I could look out through the large hole that now sat where the window had been.
Down below, the grounds were alive with guards and warriors, wolves and humans alike, rushing towards a line of hunters who were positioning their weapons for another attack.
[Arissa’s POV]I kept my body ready as Gillian let a growl escape him. From the look he was giving me, I knew that he hadn’t expected me to hold my own against his strongest guard and his beta. Smirking, I gave him a wink as he began to move towards me."Seems you’ve become more of a pest." He huffed, ignoring Ivan’s father, who was trying to stop him. "I’ll have to teach you a lesson.""Don’t forget to keep her alive!" Ivan&r
[Ivan’s POV] I sat staring straight ahead at the five bodies that slumped on the floor in front of me. A week had passed since these bastards decided to attack my territory, and today was the day of their trial. Due to keeping things fair and just, I couldn’t hand out punishments without a verdict from my most trusted confidantes. Thanks to that, Arissa had been whining and ignoring me for most of the week. Letting out a sigh of relief, I listened as each of their crimes were read aloud for all to hear. Despite this being a trial, everyone present was already aware of what they had done, and we had managed to get two confessions from Elder Theodore and Carina. Though they had helped, they weren’t aware of the hunters that were involved. Since they were innocent of those charges, if found guilty, their tongues would be removed and they would be demoted to nothing more than slaves that worked in the fields. This was a grace that I was giving them and if I heard one word of either ste
"Come back, cutie!"The blatant flirtation echoed throughout the hall I was beginning to make my way down. Followed by it was my maid Elise’s quick escape from the chamber where Arissa was supposed to be getting ready for the night’s main event.Quickening my pace, I managed to reach Elise before she could disappear down another hall. Her face, which was usually quite pale, was flushed, and her eyes were dark with worry. What in the world had Arissa managed to do this time?"M-master…" Elisa stammered, fixing her large eyes on me. "I… the mistress, she...""Slow down." I sighed, trying to hide my amusement at just how scared Arissa had left this poor maid. "What exactly happened?""She…""I can answer that."Turning, I let my eyes fall on the woman in question as she slowly and seductively made her way towards where we stood. Despite knowing that her coronation ceremony to become my Luna was happening in less than thirty minutes, she only wore a white corset that accentuated her hourg

[Arissa's POV] Heat pressed against my skin and the scent of desire filled my nose. The night that I dreaded had finally come, and the need to give in to instinct stirred. Lifting my arm, I examined the cuff that dug into my flesh. They made it tight enough to make sure I didn't break free. Cursing, I tried to ignore the throb of desire that rushed through me. I needed to escape before he came. Otherwise, I feared everything would be over.
[Arissa's POV] I began to pull the quickly weakening man behind me as arrows continued to fly towards us. How hunters managed to get into these woods was beyond me, but from the strong attack, I knew there were many hiding in the shadows. "Let me go." Gillian rasped, digging his feet into the ground. "I have to fight." "Are you stupid?" With Gillian's current condition, he would most certainly die if he attempted to take the hunters on. "Stop being stubborn and come on!"
[Arissa's POV]I sat on my knees in the middle of the large throne room, staring up into the cold, black eyes of my stepfather. His face held no signs of emotion, and his lips were pressed tightly together.Somehow, he already knew of Gillian's fate and had been ready to throw me to the dungeon the minute I returned."I'm sorry," I whimpered, unable to stay quiet. "I tried to save him."I knew that nothing I said would save me, but I had to try.
[Ivan's POV] I didn't quite know what to think about what I was seeing. From what I could remember, Arissa was a meek and demure girl. How was it possible she was now this cold and malnourished creature I was seeing? "I thought she was put to death for Gillian's death." I murmured, keeping my gaze fixed on Arissa. She seemed oblivious to the crowd that was screaming and cheering for her. Her blank gaze never wavered from where the beast she would be fighting would come from.
