X - Beau

1734

Thomas had been careful not to leave any marks on my face, marks that couldn't be explained. He wanted me to look perfect, so no one would suspect that he was the one taking their children, wives, husbands, friends. We were in Spain, I knew my friends were here but I couldn't let them know that. Not when they were sending in a man who did everything to help his people. So I convinced him to lie to them and I made sure no dream walker could access his or my dreams.

Arung had somehow earned Thomas's trust, so now he was my guard to make sure I stayed out of trouble and did as I was told. He got messages to Teach's crew for me. They were the only ones I trusted with my actual location. Yes I trusted the others but if they came for me right now, they would be killed.

Arung and I had been sent to scout for more victims, but having not eaten for years was making me weak and lethargic. I must have not been paying attention because Arung was shaking me. It took me a few minutes to focus and I saw that there was four of him, but the one touching me was the main one.

"Eat," He told me. "If I must lie for you, I want to make sure you live, Lady Beau."

I gave him a weak smile and gave him a hug.

Protect Arung when I am unable to. I thought before I shifted and tore into his clones. Once I ate thier hearts, Arung ate the rest of them. He was a strange Astrosphinx, not that he would ever tell anyone else that he was one, he would just let them think he was some other demon that could clone himself.

We had found many that would work for Thomas, but I didn't want them to get into this. I didn't want them to go through the pain of what I was going through.

"Arung how connected are you to your clones?" I asked, as we sat down under a tree.

"Once they are made, I can control them but we don't feel each others pain. Why?"

I then told him my idea about using his clones to shapeshift into the young children and he nodded.

"So you basically want me to pull my old pied piper stunt again?" He asked after awhile.

"I know it was punishment for the town of Hamelin, and a few others but this is the only way I can think of to protect them."

He gave me a smile before he held out his arm to me. He was right I did also need the extra blood to live. I bit into his wrist and drank some of his blood before I released him. I watched as clones of his formed as his blood touched the grass, watching as they turned into the kids we were supposed to be taking to Thomas. I still felt guilt, his clones were still their own person.

"I am sorry that I am asking this of you," I told them, before Arung handed me his pipe.

"We both are sorry for asking this of you," He told them. "I never wanted any of my clones to feel this type of pain but we must protect the innocents."

They all nodded and then I let my magic out, letting my shadows out as I began to play the pipe. You could hear shouts as people watched me. Arung helping them to thier homes by opening portals. I led the clones down the streets, as I cried black tears. I really hated this. Being a dog shifting Skinwalker was a curse, not a rarity.

On our return I was stabbed right in the heart by Thomas.
