Chapter 5 - Identities Changed

MAX'S POV

So I booked my flight to Vancouver, Canada. Because I don't want to bother Vesna especially since she's still being distant towards me. It was a complicated decision because I just arrived here yet I had to leave again. Arriving in Canada might have no difference to New York but I'll take the risk otherwise. I mentioned this decision to Liam right now during dinner though he seemed doubtful.

"You know, if you think that the front desk woman is telling you the truth then I think you shouldn't just barge in there showing up in Amaya's university and asking her to step down." At first, his suggestion didn't matter to me but it pissed me off that he said the same thing as Vesna.

"Liam, I have a lot on my mind right now and what you're saying is nonsense. So if you disagree with what I want then you can go back home with Vesna. I had enough of this sort of advice." I said as I took my luggage bag and started packing again.

"Okay then. But I'm gonna ask you one more thing, Will you be at ease when you get home? Or will you still be thinking about this competition? Because that's your personality problem. You'll be carrying it inside your head until you think it's done but guess what? It is a never-ending cycle." For now, I still can't find a way to understand his words but it'll sure stick around.

"Anyway, it'd be weird if you're just gonna go there and announce her to stop. I suggest you get enrolled there. Change your name and your other details so that you won't cause a crowd. You'll pretend to be someone else. A transferred student. You'll get to have friends there that will keep you distracted while waiting for her as well." Liam's idea made me turn my head in his direction and he just smiled.

"Friends? Are you serious? That would take advantage of my money?! I can't let that happen." I said while I impatiently took off my shirts from the closet and placed them in my bag.

"Max, not everyone is like that." He tried to reason with me again but I don't think I even have the time.

"Liam! I am already an adult! I'm a man! And there are a bunch of stupid people who don't even know what life is like. They're lazy and loud, messy and weird. These kinds of people take advantage of everything! May it be kindness or money?!" I exclaimed looking at Liam from time to time.

"Just like what you did to Vesna recently?" His words caught me off guard and made me stop everything I was doing. I sat on the side of the bed while Liam remained standing looking down at me. I don't know why but I feel like I keep on missing a lot of things yet I just can't get a hold of them.  I tend to assume that everyone is always against me and I couldn't understand why.

"What I am trying to say is that- You need that kind of environment. Relax sometimes. I'll work on your enrollment forms. I'll see you tomorrow, Marco Holland."

Marco, what now? Did he just make up my fake name for me?

AMAYA'S POV

"What name would you like for your new school Amaya? You decide. Cause tomorrow I am gonna work on your enrollment form which I hope will be able to pass on time because you've been too distracted and you won't answer me properly anymore."  I can hear Diego from the back of the car while kissing Flynn. I'm so happy that Diego has so much patience with me. If it were Noah, he might have dropped me out of the car already.

So I stopped and replied to him. This time in the right manner.

"Amy Wills, It's good, right? I still have my initials with me. Amaya Wescott as Amy Wills." I joked and Diego just raised his shoulders with a smile. Looks like I am not that bad with names.

"How about you Flynn?" Diego asked him looking from the rear mirror so I turned to him as well.

"I haven't thought about it though. I think I'll just go on with my real name. I am not that famous anyway. And I am planning to apply to work at some hospitals here so my real name is quite useful, especially with the IDs and licenses." Flynn formally replied to Diego like he always does while I have been casual all the time yet for some reason I felt bad for doing so after seeing Flynn like this. Should I start doing the same then?

"That's true. Alright then, it's settled and I am gonna pass this three days from now since I have to let Malia confirm this for you and they'll be able to send you a fake identification card or anything that matters here, Okay?" Diego continued being in charge of this trip while I enjoyed the moment not being the boss for once.

Finally, the car stopped and we looked at the building in front of us with the name, Holiday Inn & Suites. We then looked for a parking area so we could start getting settled and I wondered what the rooms could look like.

"Can't we check in to our partnered hotels?" I asked, unsure of the one in front of us. Is Malia trying to teach me how to budget money too?

"Malia says to lay low so we have to stay in a less expensive residence so that if ever your classmates or friends need to come to your house then there's nothing to worry about hiding your identity. Besides, our things are in there already. We can't back out now." Diego continued as he stepped out of the car and so did Flynn. I was about to follow them but before I did. I took my glasses and wore them just in case people would recognize me.

When Diego saw me. He suggested that I take off my glasses and believed in him that no one would know me. So I tried and as we arrived at the front desk, they just looked at me and greeted me like a normal person. No standing up and bowing nor acting hyped up to entertain us and bring us to our room or any other special treatments. Yet, I'm the one who got excited. As we were on our way to our rooms riding an elevator there were other people inside with us. Even a staff member came in with a trolley that gave us a tight space. And the other residents are cool with it. No complaints at all. I am astonished by how normal people do in their daily lives. My first time was on that public-seat plane. I can hear everyone talking and talking non-stop until they fall asleep. It was also odd when others were able to sleep with the noise around. I am so ignorant of how a usual life should be and I'm happy to feel bits of it.

Our rooms are just beside each other so that if ever we have any kind of emergency then it'll be easier to knock on the other person's door. Especially copulating emergencies. Each of us took the time that was left for the day to rest. This time, no disturbances. No matter what my dream is, I won't knock on Flynn's door.

Instead, I end up just watching N*****x on my laptop since I can't sleep in a place that I am not familiar with or without alcohol to make me drowsy, other than sleeping with a man beside me of course. I can't just keep stating how addicted I am to sexual intercourse. Since I started living normally now, I should think like a normal person too. Starting with my movie choice.

Three days later, I ended up not having proper sleep at all because of watching a N*****x Series till I fell asleep at dawn. It was an unhealthy way to be welcomed by Canada though at least I was able to sleep this time just not in a normal way. Since Diego and Flynn found out what I am doing. They are now starting to sleep in my room since there is a spare bed and a long sofa that someone can sleep on. By doing that, I was able to sleep early because I was comfortable with the people around me.

"It's good to see you sleeping properly now." As I woke up with Flynn beside me.

"Thanks." He kissed my forehead and smiled at me.

"Today's gonna be a great day for Amy Wills. So let's get you ready okay? Diego went to Capilano University first so, I'll be driving you there today." Flynn said staying beside me on my bed for a moment and just enjoying watching his face that was close to mine.

"Oohh my first day of school with the one and only Flynn Harris." I teased then sat on the bed.

"Hahaha Stop goofing around and go take a bath." He then stood up from the bed and moved to the closet to look for my clothes.

"Aren't you taking me inside?" I teased him again while I was holding my laugh waiting for his reaction.

"Amayaaaa.."

I then laughed as I went inside the bathroom. Bathing was not that hard for me until today. It took me a while to stay there thinking about my old college life. People avoid me either because of my status or my mom. They feel like hanging out with me is a threat to their lives. My mom doesn't want anything to distract me. When a guy came near me, offered his body to satisfy me, and just paid him in return. That was the first time someone talked to me and disrespected me. So I accepted his offer. Yes, the moment that my virginity was taken was with some stranger in college that I even haven't gotten the name of. Because after he received the one hundred thousand dollars? He left New York and who knows where now. Thinking about it made me cry in the shower curling down on the wall. Suddenly, I heard heavy knocks on my bathroom door. I couldn't open it. My legs just won't stand up and my tears just keep on falling. Later on, the door opened and Flynn's anxious face greeted me. He turned off the shower and placed a robe on me. I can see that he was concerned about me. But am I wrong to feel doubts sometimes?

MAX'S POV

I have already been here at this university for a week, dealing with two people named Miles Taylor and Kade Lee while waiting for Amaya Wescott. Yet, my real purpose here has finally been issued to arrive today and has been the talk of the whole school. Classes haven't started yet so I just kept waiting at the entrance door for her. I was hoping to meet her first before the rest of these people.

"Hey, Marco? Aren't you coming to the classroom yet?" Miles finally asked as he's been standing beside me the whole time since he arrived. I don't exactly know what's his deal but I just let him be, it's not like he's making trouble. Though unlike me, whenever other university students pass through him he happens to know a lot of them which makes them greet him while I remained invisible.

"I'll be waiting for the new student here," I said without thinking of how they might translate it inside their minds as Kade just arrived with a burger in his hand.

"Oh, that won't work. Trust me, I've tried that plenty of times with the newly transferred female students here but they won't even budge. Girls are as hard as a shit man! I suggest you avoid them instead." Kade said before taking a bite of his burger.

"Kade, Marco's not like you. You are a nerd and no one likes to listen about science stuff or whatever things you like. And you have anger issues so let's just leave Marco alone. Good luck man!" While Miles put his arm around Kade's shoulder as they left. I don't know what's gotten into me but I am somehow learning to get comfortable around these guys.

"Hey, Kade! Another thing why girls won't like you is that you are not attractive." I chuckled teasing Kade who tried his best to turn his head in my direction while Miles was holding him so tight.

"I know," Kade replied with a disappointed face. As they continued walking, I could still hear Miles talking to Kade about his appearance.

"See? Even Marco agrees with me. It's time to burst out those muscles man! Join my team!"

"Are you serious? I can't even catch a ball! Much worse shooting it."

I appreciated these two's presence at this University with me. Because every time I get too serious thinking about what's going on back in California, Miles would suddenly come up to me and let me hear his stupid jokes. Later on, it suddenly got funny. It's funny because it's awkward. Kade, on the other hand, is usually daydreaming about Freya Hayes. We tease him a lot and yet, he doesn't care because we still hang out with him. Is this how normal people handle harsh comments though? With a laugh or a rebond insult? But not getting physical? How is this place so bully-free? If I want to stand out, then should I become the bully here?

The bell rang yet there were still no signs of Amaya. Or maybe she meant to be late so people won't recognize her. I had no choice but to go back to my class. I can't risk getting punished by a college professor who doesn't know that I earn a hundred times more than they do. But suddenly, the discussion was disturbed when the professor looked at the back to where the exit door was. So everyone turned their heads as well.

"Yes? Can I help you with something?" The professor asked.

"Umm... The headmistress said this is going to be my class?"

         It was her. Amaya Wescott.

The professor waved his hand to let her come in front of the class which she did. Such an obedient woman for someone being punished for her reckless behavior.

"Introduce yourself." The professor said and stood aside.

"Hi, Umm... I'm Am- Amy Wills and I am gonna be with this class from now on."

For a businesswoman, she's too tense being in front of college students or was she acting?

"You're so pretty!" Kade suddenly shouted as I bowed my head in embarrassment and fear that Amaya might recognize me because Kade sat after Miles who sat beside me. Everyone laughed at Kade.

"Thank you," Amaya politely answered.

Freya Hayes then raised her hand to let Amaya notice her and offered the seat beside her.

"Well, would you look at that? Two angels sitting beside each other. It is indeed a good way to start the second year of college." Miles has his way of complimenting the girls too.

But I was not flabbergasted by the looks of Amaya. I despise every smile she makes. When suddenly, she looked in my direction smiling, and waved. I was confused and looked disgusted by how friendly she acted. She murmured something in her mouth. Which made me look at my seatmate.

"Thank you," Miles replied, trying to hold back his excited voice. Then he knocked Kade's elbow on the desk expressing his excitement and informing Kade about it.

"You heard that man? She said 'We'll talk later' That means we're gonna introduce each other formally." His whispers were so bad that I got a feeling that the professor could hear him.

         Until...

"Mr. Taylor, why don't you answer my question to impress our new student here." The professor did notice. Yet, here we go again. Three days straight for this week.

"Umm... About that-" Miles stood up with his hand behind his head looking nervously at the professor.

I looked back to Amaya trying to understand what was written on the board.

And I thought to myself... Glad to finally see you, Amaya Wescott, or should I say Amy Wills.

AMAYA'S POV

Please be kind to me, Capilano University. I just had my second chance to enjoy college.
