Chapter 6

Darin's POV

"Hello, Darin!" I flinch when I heard that voice. No, not again! I slowly turn my swivel around to see Arabella standing at my room door. I force myself to smile at her.

"Hello, Arabella! Please come in." After all, you have taken the pain to come to my house even if you I never invited you. I stop myself from blurting that out. She smiles brightly and comes into my room.

After that day when we went to have dinner at their place, my father told her that she could come to my penthouse where I live, alone, if she needs any help from me. So, here she is now, in my penthouse. I guess, she is here because she needs my help in something and not just want to pass time with me!

"Hey, what are you doing?" She asks with enthusiasm, something I am lacking right now.

"As you can see, I was trying to study. I have a seminar to present in less than three days from now." I inform her thinking that she will leave now. But guess I am damn wrong 'cause she goes to sit on my bed beside while looking around my room with curiosity. And I take that chance to stare at those deep enchanting chocolate brown eyes of hers, even if she is not looking at me right now. I can't help but think of that badass beauty who saved me that night. Arabella has the exact same eyes as hers but everything else she has is different from hers. Arabella has long brown hair whereas hers was jet black in color. Arabella's voice is light whereas hers was deep, intimidating. Wait, why am I even thinking about it? I don't think that I can see her ever again.

"Darin!" I blink when I hear Arabella's voice calling out to me. "Yes?" I ask stupidly.

"Where were you lost? I was asking if you can help me out." She says and I nod. I just hope that she will leave after I help her with whatever she wants.

"Great!" She exclaims with excitement.

"Okay, tell me. What is it?" I ask.

"So, if you remember, I have told that day that I am planning to pursue my graduation in zoology. And your mom told me that you are also a science student. So, I need your guidance for that since no one else here is from a science background." I slowly nod my head at her. Okay, I can help her with that.

"Fine, ask whatever doubts you may have regarding that." I tell her. She nods and we start our discussion on that.

After almost about half an hour, I release a long sigh. We have just finished our discussion and I have tried my best to make her understand about everything she asked me.

"So, do you think that I can do this?" She asks a bit hesitant. And I nod at her quickly.

"Ofcourse, you can. As you have told me that you have secured quite good grades in your high school and most importantly, you have a passion to help animals. So, I don't see a reason why not."

She told me that she has a passion to help and treat animals. So, I suggested her that she should go for veterinary science instead. I love animals too. But my passion to learn more about the microscopic world has lead me to become a microbiologist in future. And I don't regret this even a bit. This is all worth it!

"Alright, then. But I don't what dad will say. You know, he wanted me to become a business tycoon just like him." I sigh.

"Then, talk to him and try to make him understand that this is your dream. Maybe, he will understand."

"How did you convince your dad?" She asks me and I smile.

"I never did. I did not need to because he always understands and respects my decision. He knew that it was my dream so he agreed right away when I told him that I wanted to become a microbiologist." She is looking at me with an unknown look in her eyes which is hard to decipher.

"What?" I ask causing her to blink twice before smiling at me widely.

"You love your dad so much, don't you?"

"Is that even a question? Ofcourse, I do. He is my dad, and every child loves his or her mom and dad a lot. Don't you love your dad?"

"I love him a lot! He is the sole reason why I am here. He has supported me in every step of my life till now and would support me in future too." She says while looking straight in the blank space ahead as if in a daze.

"Then the problem is solved!" I exclaim. She comes out of whatever space she was in and looks at me, dumbfounded.

"Huh?" I chuckle while staring at her confused state. Cute! My subconscious exclaims.

I clear my throat. "Yeah, I mean, if he supports you too then what is the problem? You should talk to him and he will understand. Simple!" She looks down at the floor infront as if thinking about something. Then she stands up from the bed abruptly.

"I think I should leave now. I have already taken much of your time. And you have a seminar to prepare for, so I will leave now. Sorry, I disturbed you." She rushes. My eyebrows get knitted together on hearing her say that. Okay, I wanted her to leave earlier but now that we have started talking, I feel quite completely in her presence.

I stand up from my chair and stroll towards her. "No, don't say that. You did not disturb me at all. Infact, I kind of like your presence." I say while scratching my nape. "You know, what I mean. We have a lot in common. So, I guess we can be good friends?" I say more like ask. I don't have much friends, just one best friend from high school and besides that not even one friend in college. You can tell that I am an introvert by nature seeing as I don't have much friends in my life. I don't even to someone first by myself. And making friends is not my virtue, to say the least. But with her, I feel like we are really connecting. So, why not be friends with her?

"Uh...I don't think so."
