CHAPTER ONE

CHAPTER ONE

My eyes drooped slowly as I laid, sprawled across the bed. My hands were limp against the books that

were on my bed, making me more uneasy in my sleep.

Suddenly, the bang tore through my ears, causing me to jump up, my heart in my mouth. I stood up

almost angrily, my legs proving to be weak due to the long time I had slept.

Who could it even be? I opened the door to reveal my best girl who was the worst at this moment.

“Don’t tell me you slept on your books? God, why do I have a nerd for a best friend?” She questioned no

one in particular and I rolled my eyes at that.

“Jane!” I shouted to stop her from going on about me, slightly shocked. She looked at me, giving me a

dead pout, and continued almost immediately, causing me to groan.

“Anyways, please get dressed, today is Dave's birthday, we are both going, it's by 8 pm which leaves us-

“ She looked at her imaginary watch on her wrist.

“-with only an hour to get ready.” She said with a tone of finality.

“Oh, that,” I started and she frowned at my tone, knowing I was about to cancel. “I forgot, I am not sure

if I can-“

She cut me short, sitting on my book-filled bed. “-meet up, right? Oh, don’t worry, you will, now that I’m

here.” She said, rolling her eyes again, making me hope that it would get stuck there.

I glared at her and dragged the book she was sitting on from under her butt. I closed it and tossed it on

the bed, placing my hands on my waist.

“Okay fine, I am canceling today’s plans because of Dave and not you,” I said, sticking out my tongue, in

a childish manner.

“As if you could ever say no to me,” She cooed, typing away on her phone.

“You wish,” I said, slapping one of my books on her face to distract her and she gasped dramatically.

“You-“

I didn’t wait, I ran to the bathroom.

At 7:48 pm, we were done and thanks to Jane, I was staring back at my breathtaking reflection. My hair was tied up in a cute bob and the edges were beautiful. The light make-up was top-notch as she

enhanced my features making my face pop. I loved it.

“Isa, we are going to be late, if you keep on with that mirror self-worship.” She said laughing and picking

up her small bag.

"I'm already done, and I was just checking myself out, Miss,” I replied sarcastically.
