CHAPTER FIVE

     I moved straight to my closet , stripped off my garments , changed into my shower robe , as I 

went under the shower to have a cold bath, I was going to grab a drink at the bar close to my 

house , i had never gone there except our freshman year,when we went for our departmental 

welcome party, I guess I needed somewhere to clear my head , I couldn't think of anywhere else, 

I wore my short peach gown and a black turtleneck top , I locked my door and headed straight to 

the bar , they usually close by 12pm , this was still 7 , entering the bar I noticed it was a bit 

scanty than usual , only about four tables were occupied, one with three men on suit ,seems as though there were discussing business, the other three were occupied by people whom I supposed would be couples .

I made my way to the boot at the back, as soon as I settled in, the waitress approached me,

"Please what can we offer you ma'am"

"A bottle of tequila would do"

"Okay ma" 

It was so unlike me to drink anything else apart from soft drinks , but with the recent happenings lately , I had to.

She returned with my bottle smiling gracefully , I sloted in my credit card and cleared the bill .

After taking six shots , I found out why most depressed and troubled person's resort to alcohol , It never solves your problem, but makes you ignorant of them and less bothered for the moment.

I felt so light , grumpy and dizzy , I managed to make my way from the restaurant, I pulled my shoe very close to my house , walking and almost stumbling over the stair case , I fumbled with my purse and finally found my key , I opened the door and crawled into my bed.

I opened my eye to the ray of lights beaming through my window, how long did I sleep?, Ouch! , I had a throbbing headache , I guess I had too much last night.

"Finally ,you're awake"

"Dave? , How did you ...?"

" You left your door open Bella , anything could have happened , I was dropping by after training yesterday , I decided to check up on you , I found the door open , I was so scared, I thought 

someone had invaded the house , only to find you sleeping with your shoes on, reeking of 

alcohol"

All the whole time he spoke , I had my eyes fixated on his lips , oh my !,I didn't know I was 

smiling ,it's utter bliss to find out someone apart from my mother and Jane cared so deeply 

about me

 ,Dave had always been a hot guy , why couldn't I bring myself to love him deeply , we've been 

best friends since forever and trust me he is a ladies man .

DAVE'S POV 

Yesterday night when I returned from the gym with Alex ,cross and Nicholas , I had asked them 

to drop me off at Isabella's place , I badly wanted to see her and demand an explanation to why 

she left my party just before it begun even without telling me, I was a bit angry , did she detest 

me that much ,I could remember begging her to come.

Her door was ajar , I was wondering , she never wanted people to know she was existing, she 

liked to live a secluded private life , I could remember a certain scenario in our freshman year , 

when she was asked to present her GSp assignment orally , she had the highest score , the 

lecturer was so pleased that he asked her to present to the whole class ,after which she would 

be rewarded 20 marks extra . I could remember Jane and I begging her to take it especially 

after missing out half part of the semester, her mum was down with hypertension and stage 1 

paralysis was starting to set in , she had to stay with her till she was better . She told Dr Phillip , 

the GSP lecturer that she wasn't going to present in front of everyone, except it was private presentation .

It seemed as though she's been hiding from something or someone all her life , whoever this or 

what was had great consequences and effects on her .

I stared at her pretty figure on the bed , she looked so frail and innocent ,I removed her sandals 

and covered her , I wanted to leave but I couldn't , I knew she had drank too much , she smelled of alcohol. What on earth could make her drink? , I called jane immediately,

"Hey , lover boy"

"Jane , isabella is drunk, I don't know what happened , I came to her apartment and found her 

doors open , she was sleeping drunk , everything seemed in place " I said not even noticing the 

worry in my own voice 

"Calm down , but she didn't mention any problem to me, I haven't even seen her since your party,I'm such an asshole "

"Just make sure she's safe okay?, When she wakes up try to make her tell you , as soon as I'm 

back from PH I'd come down"

"You're totally of no help right now ,ouch , bye "

She stirred , after adjusting her pillow and the blanket , I put out the light and made my way to  

her cushion.

I woke up , checking my phone , it was past 8 , I had a long day ahead , well I would skip the 

morning training, I went out of the house to get breakfast and hot soup , I definitely knew she 

was going to have an hangover.

When I returned she was slightly awake , all the emotions of yesterday came back fresh ,I 

wanted to scold her , ask her ....

"Dave , how did you..?"

I didn't let her complete her statement , " you left your door open Bella, anything could have 

happened, I was dropping by after training yesterday, I decided to check up on you, I found your 

door open , I thought someone had invaded the house , I was scared , only to come in and meet 

you sleeping and reeking of alcohol..."

She was looking at me smiling, this girl might be the end of me .

"You look cute when ranting " she said smiling childishly

"Isabella I'm serious, you shouldn't do this again, it's not safe "

"Yes Boss I won't ever , but right now , it seems world war II is going on in my head"

"It's expected , especially for someone with a low alcohol tolerance , who goes to drink without 

telling her friends what's bothering her "

" It's not what you think I promise"

" Here I got you soup , it will help reduce the ache "

"Thank you so much" she began eating hurriedly

"Okay so do you mind telling me what happened"

"Dave please let's not talk about it, it's nothing serious and next time I won't do something as 

risky again, and I really appreciate your concern "

"Hmm , alright , if you say so , why did you leave the party so early the other day ?"

"Oh I was going to apologize, I'm sorry , I received an urgent call from my mum " she didn't 

sound so convincing but I didn't push further.

"Alright then , how is she ?"

"She is good , the doctor said her heart rate is stabilizing"

"That's good news , call me if you need anything, I'd be heading out for my training"

"Okay do have a wonderful day"

I took two more steps and bent over the bed, her pulse had quickened, I kissed her forehead, 

"goodbye" and left.
