CHAPTER NINE

It's no news that charlotte seizes the least opportunity to seduce me , that would have worked if only she wasn't my secretary. I loved women , but I had my limits and an ounce of self control, the least I could do is having an affair with my staff , it took cheer hard work and discipline to bring my company to the heights it has attained, after it was willed to me by my father, the company was almost in shackles when I became CEO.

Charlotte is an attractive,curvy lady , with all endowments in the right places , but she isu secretary and that is a strong barricade.

"Good morning,boss" she said smiling brightly

"Morning, charlotte" I replied almost immediately, without looking at her . Walking past her I got into my office. After minutes of settling down to work , I heard a knock on the door , it must be charlotte.

"Yes , what is it? "

"I'm sorry i have bad news boss"

"I don't have time for this , can you talk!"

"The emeralds just called to inform ,that they would be cancelling the meeting, I think they found someone else"

"Wait ?, What?, Why would they cancel?"

"They found some other potential investors I think"

" Shut up!, We are the best, something must be wrong somewhere "

"I'm sorry sir ,I ..."

"Get out !!" She hurriedly closed the door.

I turned down the heaps of books on my table in rage , stamping my fist on the table , I picked my coffee cup and flung it towards the door .

"Holy cow !, Seems the lion has been unleashed from his cage".

Christian.

"Sorry man, just starting my day on a rough note"

"It's only someone who doesn't know you , that might be surprised"

"What are you insinuating" I asked glaring at him

"If only looks could kill man , calm your loins , I'm your brother , I know you too well " he replied laughing.

Christian is the younger brother I never really had , my only biological sibling was Tracy, she was born eight years after I was. I met christian and his twin brother Andrew, when my biological father disowned me , they happened to be victims of same fate or misfortune if any better , they were picked up by sanctos , the man whom showed me the true bliss of fatherhood. He left us three with different shares , I was left with LLB group of companies and a part of Don sanctos mafia , christian with the gold refinery, Andrew was left with the Dons textile at mexico .

We loved one another as a family would , although Andrew was never comfortable around me , I tried my best not let our ties get severed even after the death of sanctos. We had a lot of problem growing up, although "big daddy" as we called sanctos never failed to resolve them. After he died , Andrews hatred for me grew as he found out I was given the larger part of sanctos investments, he always succeeded in masking the hatred any time he was around , but I saw through him.

"Well I just got rejected by a potential client, I mean why would they cancel on us at the dying minute "

" Oh , this things happen , you should relax bro , you work really hard , everyone around you knows that , LLB is where it is right now because of you , so I think they've got other reasons for cancelling " Christian said

"Who knows you could be this serious, well thanks but don't try to make me feel better chris" I complained

"Well then , get drunk, stay in doors and fast from women " he replied with a suppressed laughter

"This is not funny , if you have nothing to say , just shut up already, by the way I always appreciate silence" I scolded

"Calm down , I think we should go out for some drinks later after work , you need it"

"I can't , I'm expecting visitors later in the day , the least I could do is welcome them"

"Wow !, Is this about the half cast and her mother , you told me?"

"She is an African American, Negroe is better , calling someone an half cast isn't cool"

"Wait , is that the tiniest bit of concern I sense in your voice,Ace?" Chris asked sarcastically

"Oh shut up , you know I can't care about any women except tracy"

"Says who?"

"Don't start , remember you convinced me into sending that letter ,it's not like I was ever sure about it "

"That's the least you could do for Gomez in return after all he did for you "

"Well , I know right, I just hope I could put up with them ,till whatever time frame is needed to bring santiago down" I went cold , I didn't know that name still kept me spellbound after many years , I still felt shivers down my spine after saying it.

"Let's hope ,you find her interesting" christian teased , trying to change the topic, probably noticing my tension.

Looking at him , a look that could send daggers down his ribs in split seconds, he shifted happily in his chair , knowing he was striking nerves .

"I think you should go , you've over stayed "

"Not until , you promise to introduce me to your African refugees"

"They are no refugees , they happened to be people I'm owing a favor"

"Whatever you call them , so far I get to meet her , who knows what might happen next , I heard this Black girls are damn hot and could be quite fisty in bed" he said whispering, slightly smacking his lips.

Typical christian, he had his way with women, although he had a problem. He was extremely vulnerable, the last phase of heart break he went through nearly cost him his life . I had always tried to make him see that those hoes weren't worth it. He never went to bed with a lady he didn't feel anything for.

"You wouldn't dare " I retorted after hearing his sexual intentions towards Isabella.

"Well if she likes you , I wouldn't want to get involved in her personal affairs, living under my roof would be a enough trouble" I added immediately sensing I almost fell out of line earlier.

" Alright I would stop by as soon as I can , when she comes' christian said while typing on his phone ,he looked as though he was typing a work related message.

Getting up , "I'm requested at the office , this people don't seem to be capable of doing anything without me , see you later bro "

"Shut my door on your way out "

"If you would have bid me goodbye, I would know you were probability saying your last words " without waiting for me comeback he hurriedly left.

Leaving me to my train of thoughts , I knew I had to do something, this was the second company cancelling on us in three weeks .

Picking up the office intercom , I dialed charlotte,

"Hello sir "

" I need you here now"

CHARLOTTE'S POV

"I need you in my office now!" He ordered through the phone, that was what he did almost everytime. Ace is a perfect definition of a cold , heartless Asshole . Although he paid salaries in time and made sure there was no preferential treatment amongst his staff.

He used women like objects , and always had them at his beck and call, he was any woman's ideal man and dreams.

I met Ace at a Charity donation a year ago , he had seemed to be interested in me, spoting him in the crowd was no problem, his might Aura and good looks stood out . He was continuously looking towards my direction, and looking extremely sexy in his blue tuxedo suit that night , who was I to resist, seeing how reluctant he was in approaching me , I walked up where he sat with his high echelon friends, I asked him to the dance floor , he happily obliged. While dancing I invited him over to my house the following day for a couple of drinks. Who would think a man like Ace cared about anyone else let alone come to a charity gala.

When he came over the next day ,we shared drinks, played some games , spoke at length, although he never made the mistake of mentioning anything relating to his life or family , I didn't push it. After more drinks , he kissed me , it was magical, we made love that night , I had never felt that way with any man before, that night all I could comprehend was the tangled sheets , Ace and me against the world.

Waking up the following morning, Ace was gone. I searched everywhere for him , after a fruitless search,I received a text from a strange number, the text that kept me wanting more !"

" Hey charlotte, you're a sweet girl , sweet in every sense , body and soul . I'm sorry to have disappeared the way I did but that's what's best for you, don't bother looking for me . Bye."

I was heartbroken but I thought all he needed was a little push and persuasion. Determined to get the man I loved , I begun searching for anything I could find about him ,it wasn't hard finding out he was the rich , powerful CEO of LLB and he was one of sanctos three adopted sons . Nothing else was says about his original family .

After many failed attempts of trying to schedule a meeting with him, I found his companys advertisement for a secretary, seizing the opportunity to get closer to him , I applied , surprisingly I was hired.

I heard the previous secretary was hired abd fired within a week . I vowed to make quite an impression on him, I thought to myself. The company's MD lucas hired me with an advice"get ready to be fired anytime, just do your best".

I made sure I was the first person to resume the office the following day, he got inside about two hours later , sighting me he froze , he regained his composure almost immediately, he walked past me as though we had never met .

Feeling slighted, I walked up to his office , there and then I saw the rebirth of the man i slept with , he was never going to walk down that memory lane with me again, it was obvious.

" How dare you barge into my office without knocking, didn't you have the least idea of ethical principles before applying for this job" he said coldly .

Tears threatened at the corner of my eyes, " Ace,it's me charlotte, are you gonna sit there and pretend nothing happened, would you act as though you feel nothing"

"Firstly around this environment, it's Boss and not Ace , secondly us?, there is no us , I told you that day there was nothing attached, it was a fling we both enjoyed, no entitlements"

"Lastly,if I knew you were the new intern Lucas spoke about,I would never have let him hire you , but if you must keep this job , I'm your boss and nothing more!" He says sternly without any emotions.

It was shocking how he changed, I never knew I fell for an heartless beast , but what could I do , LLB was the highest paying companies in Canada, I resolved to fate , hoping that one day he would find out what I felt for him , I held on to only memories, but I knew that would never be enough.

The cracking of ACE'S door brought me back from my ocean of thoughts . Entering his office, I saw him standing his face to the wall and his broad back against me view , I wondered what the problem was .

"Yes boss , you sent for me "

"Two minutes ago , I sent for you two minutes ago , charlotte" he said in an extremely cold voice , quite dangerous.

"I'm sorry sir , I was trying to organize the drafts of our tomorrow's proposal, I'm so sorry it won't repeat itself again" I stuttered

"of course it can't relate itself again"

"call for a conference meeting in about an hour , I want everyone present"

"but sir..."

"do as I say".
