Life as a slave

Chapter 3

Life isn't fair.

At a point in this cruel world; death is worth pleading for. , having had her back on the closed bathroom door for a long time sobbing, starts to slowly slide to the floor as her legs weaken.

Her face has become pale and puffy due to her endless crying.

Is life really worth fighting for?,slowly before her eyes she had watched her life crumbling. No paths left for her to survive that she hasn't crossed.

Being mistreated by her mother and still enduring is not what everyone can do. She's helpless, she's nothing but an helpless-hopeless Omega.

A sound came from the turning of the key in tht lock and hearing that, she rose up instantly on her feet as she dabbed her tears filled eyes with the hem of her dress.

The door was flung open,"Get out...now!"

Without hesitating, she scurried out of the bathroom and as soon as she stepped out, a fresh air of freedom hit her face. And for that, she gave out a forced smile.

She attempted to make a move but froze at the spot when the voice came.

"L-Lucia!"

No doubt;she knew she's in it. Her step mother marched forward and came to stand before her, the room filled with deafening silence.

She didn't take her eyes from the floor even when she noticed her presence before her. Her hands were now fidgeting with her dress.

"Lucia!"her mother half yelled her name, anger rising deep in her.

"Mother..."Lucia shuttered, snapping her head up immediately to meet her gaze. This is a woman she's learnt her whole life never to annoy.

Her mother shut her eyes closed and muttered something under her breath enduringly amidst gritted teeth,"Next time, when I talk: you don't talk...is that clear?"

"When you talk, I don't talk,"Lucia repeated drawing on her words. And suddenly realising with a jolt she was staring at her, she quickly added,"...That's clear."

Giving her one last glance, her mother turned around and walked away.

Exhaling deeply, she gulped the lump in her throat.down

"I wish I had a better mother who won't hate her husband for leaving her." She thought sadly and went to the kitchen. Kitchen. A place she is expected to be. To work. To clean. To remain forever. Be hidden in the shadows of the kitchen.

"Hey, Lucia." A voice said from behind her, making her jerk in shock with a gasp escaping from her. Standing before her, was her step father who her mother had married after her father left her. He grinned widely as he eyed her.

"She yelled at you again?" He asked and her face hardened. She hated the way he pretended to care.

"I told you if you give me what I want, the beating and shouts will cease totally but you are being stubborn. And I must say, it is not going to help you." He said and she wrapped her arms around herself.

"Charles, I have chores to do. In case you don't have anything to help me with. Please, go back to my mother and help her. Not like I need your help anyway." she said, facing the place she was going to clean.

"Anyway, you should know that our Alpha is back." He said and that caught her attention.

"Really?" She mouthed and he snorted.

"How can a low life girl like you know?" He mused in mockery and her nose flared up in anger but she pinched her fingers deeper into her palms, stopping her from gritting at him. Knowing full well how Charles loves to play the victim when it comes to them.

"Definitely, not like he knows me or I am attached to him." She retorted, scrubbing the place harder than she intended. Charles scoffed and left. After she noticed, he left. She released a deep breath. Another pain in her ass. Her step father.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

The alarm rang loudly and Xander groaned as he tossed over to the other side of the bed.

It rang again and he forcefully brought his hands out of the muffled bedsheet. He hit it and the alarm fell with a thud. He grunted in annoyance as he forced his eyes open.

"Stupid." He muttered under his breath as he rose up. He went before the mirror and looked at how his hair was disheveled. He was about to the bathroom when a knock came on the door.

He scowled and threw his back to stop his face from contorting his annoyance.

"Who is there?" His husky voice asked.

"It's me, Xander. We are already preparing for your Welcoming party. Please, be downstairs soon." His mother informed him.

"Okay," was all he said before he went to the bathroom, leaving his mother at the door, not even bothering to open the door for her. After she noticed he was not opening the door, she left also.

Xander came out not long after and was now dressed in his usual denim jeans and deep blue colored shirt with a pair of shoes. He combed his hair and exhaled. Looking at himself in the mirror and taking in his posture, he morphed his face into seriousness. "Xander." His mother called out again in a sing-song tone and he made a little noise in his throat before stepping out. His mother took his features and smiled gracefully.

"Now let us go downstairs and welcome you."She said, tugging at his arm as she took him downstairs.

The crowd he met made him halt to a stop. He knew his father's pack was huge. He just didn't know that lots of people would be here.

"Are you okay?" His mother asked and he scanned through the crowd.

"Yes, I am." He said and his uncle locked eyes with him.

"Oh, oh, oh..." His uncle spoke into the microphone, gaining the pack's attention.

"Guess who is here?" He asked as he darted his eyes towards Xander who had his hands dipped in his pocket.

Everyone turned around and saw him. Gasps erupt as they take him in. His posture. His resemblance with the former Alpha.

"Welcome, Alpha Xander!"
