2| Dare to kiss

Amaira's POV

"Amy!"

"Amy!"

Someone shook me, breaking the trance of my thoughts and bringing me back to reality.

"Umm... Yeah!" I blinked twice to act normally. I don't want her to know that I was lost somewhere and why she was blabbering continuously otherwise she will kill me with her bare hands.

"I have been calling you for the past 5 minutes, but you are somewhere else. What's the matter with you girl?" My roommate, Chloe, nudged me.

"Sorry! I am all ears!" I gave her my most charming smile, which is enough for her to melt.

"Seriously Amaira, it is getting too much now! This cheesy smile of yours is not going to work this time. First, you took half a day off, and now you are lost in your world. There is undoubtedly something which is bothering you which you are not sharing with me!" She said out of anger.

"There isn't anything like that. You are overthinking things. I am fine" I gave her another phony smile.

But the truth is that I am not at all fine. I can't take the last night's dream from my head, no matter how hard I try. It is haunting me like a nightmare. I haven't shared this with anyone, not even with Chloe with whom I share nitty-gritty details of my life.

"I bet you are not fine and you are trying to hide something from me!" She came back.

I huffed and closed my eyes.

"It's fine if you don't want to share" she rubbed the back of my palm and I pursed my lips. She always understands me.

"Thank you, Chloe, but believe me there is nothing to worry about!" I reassured her.

"Hmm.... you might forget that we promised to share everything with each other but I won't forget my duty as a friend. I will ask you a few questions and you will have to answer them truthfully. Ok?" She asked with one of her eyebrows raised.

I kept staring at her without blinking. I am sure she is going to tell her lame jokes.

"You will either tell me what is bothering you or you will answer my simple question. The choice is yours" I don't think she gave me any choice here!

"Ok!" I tilted my head, asking her to go forward.

"So tell me how will you put an elephant in a refrigerator?" She raised her eyebrows.

Has she gone mad or what?

"I don't know!" I said blankly.

"Open the fridge and put the elephant in it. Simple! Isn't it?" She wiggled her eyebrows.

"You are crazy!" I chuckled.

"Ok, one more question!" She folded her legs and shifted towards me "how will you put a donkey in the refrigerator?"

"I will open the fridge and place the donkey in it!" I wasn't so sure about my answer but my brain was not ready to think anything else.

"No! You will first take out the elephant from the refrigerator and then put the donkey into it!" She explained.

"Oh God, Chloe you are too much!" I exclaimed.

"Ok, one more" she didn't give me time to protest and continued with her silly questions "If all the animals went to the lion’s birthday party and one animal went missing. Which one would it be?"

"I don't know" I bite my lips.

"Donkey, because it's still in the fridge, you donkey!" She chuckled and I let out a puff of irritation. Is she kidding me?

"Ok, now this one is last," she said gaining her breaths back "If there is a river full of crocodiles and you wanted to cross, how would you?"

"Umm, I think, I will take the help of a boat or something like that!"

"Oh no! You just swim and cross the river as all the animals including crocodiles are enjoying Lion's birthday party!" She laughed.

"Chloe!" I screamed and attacked her neck.

I am going to kill her!

Don't know from where she brings such lame jokes!

I ran to her and she collapsed on the couch as I reached out to squeeze the life out of her.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She yelled.

Taking a deep breath, I moved back. I spared her because she went out of her way to lighten up my mood. She adjusted her clothes, normalized her breaths, and checked the time.

"We have already wasted a lot of time. Now stand up and get ready for tonight!" She patted my shoulder while standing up on her own.

"Tonight?" My eyebrows knitted in confusion and my chin raised to meet her gaze.

"Yes!" She said excitedly and clapped twice like a kid.

"But where are we going?" I asked out of curiosity.

"To the club!" She informed me.

"Club?" She nodded her head frantically "Why?"

She didn't reply.

"You are going to meet your friends. Right?" I inquired and she nodded.

"I am not going anywhere" I declared, as I sat back down on the couch.

I never feel at ease around her friends. They are of different levels, not at least of my type. I never feels comfortable around them.

"I never said you had a choice in this" she lifted me up by my arm "Move your lazy ass from this couch and get up!" She sort of reprimanded me.

"Chloe!"

"I am not listening to any of your excuses!" She declared as she entered her room.

No!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can never win any argument with Chloe. She always does what she wants and forces me to do the same.
So as per her wish, I am sitting in the club with her friends who are busy in drinking and making fun of others. My ears are hurting from the volume of the music. Everyone here is preoccupied with their own world, dancing, drinking, and grinding with one another. As usual, girls are wearing so short dresses that there is nothing left to imagination.
I also got ready to come here because I thought it was the only way to get rid of the last night's dream which was not ready to leave my mind.
My thoughts were diverted when I heard the voice of hooting. I was so engrossed with my surroundings that I had no idea when these people started playing 'Truth and Dare' and the worst part is that I was also a part of this game and that too without my knowledge.
Everyone applauded when the bottle came to a halt at Kimberly.
"Truth or dare?" They asked.
"Truth" she came back.
"How many boys have you fucked up to this point?" One of the boys asked her.
This is what makes me uncomfortable. I don't like how they ask questions in the name of truth. They become overly personal. Moreover, according to them being a virgin at the age of 26 is shameful. And I am sure they are going to ask me questions related to that only as they know very well I am a kind of girl who stays away from all this.
"Five" Kimberly answered, bending down a little, exhibiting her cleavage "and sixth could be you" she added, biting her lower lip and winking at him.
I was the only one who thought it was very cheap because everyone else was cheering on her. The boy took the advantage of the golden opportunity and drew her to his lap in front of everyone. I averted my gaze.
Chloe sensed that I am not at ease with the things going around. She told me to relax and enjoy the moment before handing me a shot.
The bottle was spun once more. I gulped down one shot out of nervousness. I was just hoping that the bottle doesn't run out on me. Fortunately, it didn't stop on me this time.
I was gulping down a shot with each spin of the bottle. I have never consumed so much alcohol ever before in my life. My head began to and my vision went blurry. I could feel my cheeks turning baby pink. The drink is having an effect on me and I believe and I should stop having it. But I couldn't stop myself.
My eyes were ready to pop out of their sockets when the bottle stopped at me.
"Dare, dare!" I coughed out before they could ask me what I wanted to choose.
They all started laughing at my desperation. Out of embarrassment, my cheeks turned an even darker shade of red and I looked down.
"Ok! So there is a very simple dare for you!" One of the boys spoke up and I looked up to face him.
I couldn't see anything clearly as my vision had become blurry. My head was spinning.
"Take ten steps backward and kiss the first man you encounter!" He ordered.
His words stunned me and my jaw dropped down on its own.
How could I possibly kiss a stranger out of blue?
