The earth stopped, as did my heart.

I staggered back, my vision blurred and the living room started to spin.

Before finding my mate, I’d hoped, prayed that any maiden would conceive my heir. Sapphire, along with several other she-wolves had graced my bed, but even before their tests came out negative, I’d known that only my mate could bear my child, and it became obvious to everyone, but that didn’t stop them from wanting to try.

Mates are given to us werewolves by the moon goddess to complete us. In the case where a male or female wolf rejects or fails to accept his/her mate, the moon goddess rarely blesses them with children if they settled with someone else, but there were rare occasions where they got lucky.

In my case however, I was cursed. It was impossible for any woman to carry my child aside my mate.
